They would have been prosecuted also but they are not the regular police, they're just special constables. The Ghana policeman should also be investigated, he said give me your number so that we will be communicating' (romancing), the lady refused since it's not for any security purpose.
Communicatng doesn't mean romancing. It means communicating. He can communicate with her on her safety or call him when she senses trouble so he can give her necessary assistance. It could be a lot of things we have not thought about
@AcesInfoTube bra.... oh nobody be perfect even if Ghana police ask you for number which crime did he commit? Did he force her? Even if he has romantic intentions he is human abs he has his right and for u to know it never against his cooperate regulations. So please give us a break
I'm an officer and as an officer you not allowed to accept any gift when you're in uniform, and it is prohibited to ask someone to offer you something when you're on duty. What they did was totally wrong.
Stop acting like you are brand new. Nigerian police are the most corrupt in the world. They stop you randomly on the street for no reason for bribes. It's disgusting.
A security officer demanding money from strangers entering your country or residence is never a good work ethic. The police service is a public office, and it is not legal for public officers to charge unapproved fees or demand money illegally in the implementation of their duties, regardless of their working conditions. Sheldon is totally right
True talk my brother the under dogs are only suffering that's what's leads them all to this corruption is sad family friends everyone there and salaries are too low the state very sad Africa am from gambia from
Looool😂 it's NOT a step in any direction because NOTHING has changed. Today thousands of 🇳🇬 motorists will have been stopped at roadblock by police officers collecting bribes, with the full knowledge of their superiors. These encounters do not go viral & the police officers continue to be promoted. This demotion of these 2 officers is just for show. Nigerian police are still absolutely shameless!
The problem is that this probably been going on for awhile.. but this time they messed with the wrong tourist that is also a RU-vidr.. I thinks it the only reason why the Nigerian police force is taking action just because they are being exposed.. to save face they had to hold the 2 security guys accountable.
How many of us have recorded this kind of incident and nothing happened, this dismissal only happened because it was recorded by a foreigner. In fact, sacking a police officer for collecting bribes in Nigeria is unheard of.
I understand you letting them go, maybe taking their badges but taking their clothes off was a bit below the belt. Let’s be honest, they ask for money all day. As you walk through naija, is there a day that you have seen a police man not asking for money? It’s unfortunate that these have been caught on camera and they’re being used as scapegoats. However, correction of corruption starts somewhere, and unfortunately it started with them. I pray they find work to support themselves and their family in these difficult times.
Scanty's position on this issue and this video depict how Ghanaians and Africans as a whole have normalized corruption. Sadly, this is the mindset of many people in our beloved country, and until we change our attitude and mindset, we will continue complaining but see no progress in years to come. Our corrupt politicians are a reflection of our society. If we see nothing wrong with such embarrassing behavior from our public officers, we will definitely replicate these behaviors in higher positions. It always starts small. No one living abroad will be sad seeing these dismissed officers. There are repercussions to everything we do. If you know, your family depends on and you will have nothing when sacked, then abide by the code of conduct of the office you occupy. Otherwise, set up your private business and do what's you want and allow your employees to behave likewise. We are where we today because of this "fa ma nyame attitude" and glorifying wrongful conduct.
The day Nigeria Police stopped our bus for minutes to interview only me with unnecessary questions to the extent of wanting to search my bag just because I have a visa stamp in my passport and they know I am capable of tipping them, I felt the frustration. Meanwhile I was even looking for money for school. People should learn to be professional on duty. If your salary is not sufficient, get another stream of income. Let's stop this nonsense in Africa
I have seen hundreds of episodes of the travels of this woman, since she began her first trip starting in India some years ago. She has travelled extensively through Asia, Europe, South America, Central America, North America, Southern Africa and now Western Africa. It has happened only in some African countries where we see at checkpoints that officers are trying to flirt with her, and are asking her for her number. The episode where the two Nigerian officers are involved, has been the only one like that, shown in any of her videos.
She did not just put out the police video, she posted the full video of her journey from Benin Republic to Nigeria to Cameroon and some other West African countries, that's what her channel is about. She is a tour Vlogger Maybe someone else did a merge of the two videos.
I doubt if Itchy Boots would've complained, she's not like that She has over two million subscribers the whole world is watching her and according to the comments I read on her videos that includes thousands of people throughout Africa
@@Amessdingo It's not an innocent travellers fault that these people aren't paid well. We go there because we love the country.....we shouldn't have to face corrupt officials because of it.
this has been going on for decades, when one use to go home to Nigeria when one was little with mum, they be stopping traffic every 100m shaking you down for money to continue journey or they hold you and behave like they will search vehicle, glad they are being recorded now, every office need come with CCTV cam to rid corruption So they do this in Ghana too? In Naija some of them carry rifles
I'm from a different African country. I visited Ghana 3 times and that kind of corruption is everywhere. First, a very heavily pregnant Post office cashier intended to keep some of my change from buying postcards. So I didn't touch the change she'd given me. She looked at me I looked at her back, no words exchanged. When she put the correct change i took it and left. She'd forgotten that the previous week she'd served me and short changed me. I hadn't checked the change then as I had trusted her but she wasn't going to get away with it this tjme😂. When someone hit my sister's car in the back, we went to the police station to report the accident. They would not do anything until she gave them "something ". She'd been there longer so she knew how things work. I was livid. She gave them something then the one who was supposed to take the report said, "madam but there's 5 of us here", meaning what she'd given was insufficient. Tnirdly, everytime my brother-in-law went to the bank, the teller demanded money😮😮😮like a fool he succumbed each time. So it's not just secury services personnel only involved in such behaviour. I was glad when their term ended and went back home, I wouldn't visit them again but I had already vowed I'd not come back not because of that but the weather was just too too too hot😂
I am so impressed at the fight against corruption in Nigeria at the moment. Africa is a beautiful continent with so much to offer tourists and travellers but sadly there is always an element that will abuse their power. Governments are acting promptly to stop this now and the change in my home country is dramatic. Keep it up Nigeria.
Same goes to Ghana immigration and the health staff at Kotoka international airport. Have been coming to Ghana since 2019. Every time” what did you bring me” or “Boss give me something small”. Maybe I should also record! 🤣🤣🤣🇬🇭🇬🇭. Still love my country though.
Please record i beg🙏. If you don't the authorities will not know what is going on and those workers will not stop just because you say so. As i talk they're there begging trust me
@@melissayeboah1210 oh trust me! I believe you on that statement on the ongoing begging. It doesn’t make Ghana Immigration or the Health service look good at all! :( should be arriving soon at Kotoka. Will see what happens. lol
Sheldon, Nigeria dismiss officers from time to time for one corrupt practice or another. And they always televise the dismissals. They trying to sanitize the police
@@delali-mandelayd7242 he should feel pity for the lady being extorted for money.. not the criminals.. how will this stop of every time it happens we let them go
@@ME_futball when a police officer stops you in the middle of nowhere ask tells you to give them money that’s extortion, that’s the corruption right there
KSS, please do you know when NABPTEX results will be released? That's the final exams for technical schools/institutes in Ghana. They wrote before BECE and WASSCE, but they have yet to release the results. Their website also seems to be hacked. Your voice on this might help us to get an update from them.
"ItchyBoots" is arguably the finest travel channel on RU-vid, her adventures and quality of production are second to none, and all results are her work alone. Corporate Media would be unable to produce anything to compare with her work.
The lady isn't the one who merged the video...the watermark on the video isn't her handle 7:55 She's just documenting her journey around the world on a bike...something she's been doing for like 4years this
I’m taxi driver here in UK and as a driver safeguarding rules went against me when I started driving school kids and bought a bar of chocolate to the school kids I nearly lost my taxi driving licence So every profession you are not allowed to take money or exchange your service for for favour so they should have think twice before asking her for money.
The tourists was not the one who made this merge of Ghana vs Nigeria police. I’ve been watching her videos for a year now. If she knew they would get in trouble she wouldn’t have posted it with their faces in there. She’s a cool person
this was a positive thing for the image not only of Nigeria but also of all of Africa, because Europeans consider African countries very corrupt, this is a small demonstration that things are changing. well done
I mean no insult by saying this. But unfortunately scanty age and life experience is why he is talking like that. In a few years time he will rewatch this video and say he was wrong
LOL - they were sacked only because it made it to RU-vid. Don’t be surprised if they are rehired, because most people get government jobs because of who you know not based on qualifications. The top officials are even worse and collect portions of the extortion monies.
If you are a police officer and you are on duty it is wrong to ask for money but if u are not on duty u are allowed to do what ever u want to do but make sure you dont do private things in uniform because people can misinterpret it
Itchy Boots has travelled the world and it seems only in Nigeria her fans, including myself, have been concerned for her safety. The policeman who asked for money said it quite menacingly but Noraly handled it well. She is a global treasure.
Great analysis as always guys. So many issues here: 1. It is ethically wrong for the police men to ask for money. However, if you assess the conditions under which some these men and women work, you would really pity them and realize that justice has not been served. These men have to buy their uniforms, fuel and repair their patrol vehicles, sometimes repair their guns and buy their ammunition. It’s really a bigger conversation on the condition of service of the Nigerian police men and women. Some even have to make returns to their superiors. It’s common knowledge that the money they get on the streets goes to their superiors in the office. Not to talk of their living conditions. 2. Having listed their working and living conditions above, these men are likely to be disgruntled, and rightly so. It’s not unheard of for sacked police men in Nigeria to form robbery gangs. Some have been caught in the past. So this becomes a danger to the society. 3. The Nigerian police and police all over the world behave like a fraternity. Acting on @itchyboots experience should have been done in such a way to protect other travellers and bikers who are documenting their experience. Knowing that their colleague has been sacked based on these videos, I expect the other members of the police to sit up but I also won’t be surprised if their animosity towards innocent travellers is escalated by this event. In the end, the public is no better for it. 4. Finally I love itchyboots and what she is doing inspires me profoundly. As one living outside Nigeria, I’m proud of the everyday Nigerian people I see in her videos who are generally helpful and also the beautiful parts of my country I have not seen. This is a cause worthy of emulation and I’m inspired to ride across my country at some point. However, if she came to Nigeria to tell us our police are corrupt, then it’s an exercise in futility. We know much more than she can reveal in the entire video series. I believe that Expositions such as these ones showing “corrupt police” should be reported discretely through the proper channels for her sake and especially for the sake of the average Nigerian/traveller who may receive the blowback effect. Finally, I feel sad for these men. My kit and kin went on the streets to protest police brutality and lives were lost. So i know it’s easy to say they deserved their sacking and whatever comes after. But the truth is these men are victims of the bigger corruption we face in Nigeria. It is possible that those who passed judgement on them are even bigger beneficiaries of the corrupt system. No justice has been served here, just another family denied their means of the daily scraps of bread that was keeping them going. They were fired to save face but if truly they cared, they would have taken them for re-orientation, trainings, even suspension.
Please don't blame the lady. They are meant to uphold the law. Colour of the skin doesn't matter and this is what sets africa back because you think they shouldn't be exposed. The Nigerian Police institution needs a new reform with educating their officers what is right and not right. Regular training on a yearly basis would help as well and better monthly pay to tackle this begging on a daily basis. Western police would never ask you for money because they know what would come of it if it was caught and reported. Let's get Africa to this level of self respect from our law officers so foreigners like this lady put Africa on the map for positive reasons and feel free to travel anywhere in Africa.
As a public servant you shouldn’t have a conflict of interest. It’s a punishable crime . You don’t receive gifts even. Reason why there is a lot of robbery and misconduct and embezzlement in Africa. Thieves in political offices and job positions. They should fine them for the disgrace caused to the Nigerian police force.
That clip is from ITCHY BOOT , a tourist RU-vidr, I'm surprised people are now seeing the video. It's not her fault, she never put this part of the video out. It was a small section of her full video. Someone actually decided to cut that part. Scanty shouldn't blame her... What the police did wasn't right... The punishment was harsh tho
@@DavidLubisia254 I saw it and I feel ashamed now. She basically changed it to that after the story started trending. I guess she isn't that innocent after all
I live in the Netherlands, it was disgraceful watching it on TV ,they were laughing and making fun of Nigeria Police ,Africans and money, don't blame the lady, she riddle motor bike from the Netherlands to Africa you want her go without camera? Very shameful 😊
These things happens there too but not like in Nigeria. I once went for cleaning in a school over there with my supervisor, after we are done my supervisor has to hand in a bottle of liqueur before our invoice and cleaning form was signed.
She is a vlogger - her cameras are for documenting her travels and also her safety. The officers have themselves to blame. Don't ask for bribes, camera or not. But bigger blame is on the leaders/officials at the top. They're just as bad or even worse.
Noraly kept it light and cheerful but we were all relieved when the officer dropped the menacing demanding for money. It was very disappointing to see when normal citizens had all been so very friendly and helpful.
The police can ask for money but not in uniform or whiles at post. Money or gifts could cloud their judgments and influence their decision making in their line of duty. I believe the main reason why they were stripped off their uniforms was they failed to do proper security checks on the traveller and asked for money instead. Anyway, the lady is a RU-vidr though, her channel name is Itchy Boots. She travels across the world on a bike and records her experiences . She wasn’t behind the comparison between the Ghana and the Nigerian border control though. Those videos were just merged by a tiktoker, not the lady.
@@sircurlis9830 Their people will survive... or did they tell you the family has no money to feed? They should have thought about that before joining police and asking for bribe.
It's not about White privilege....its about the image of the country (Nigeria)... Millions of people are watching that RU-vid channel... They had to do something about that situation.
Make scanty relax the woman did nothing wrong she’s actually a travel vlogger that’s what her channel is about she’s travels around the world n she’s didn’t merge those vids together, it be bloggers wey do am
Yeah you are right, Itchy Boots haven't done anything wrong. Most ppl only find out about her due to that video but she's been doing her videos all this while. Her camera have been confiscated before. She's done nothing wrong.
I agree with Sheldon. I worked in a hospital where you can't receive cash from a patient/client as an appreciation. You are free to accept (an item as a gift) but not CASH cause you will be queried.
I saw these clowns pulling that crap on Itchy Boots on the day she uploaded it. I have to say how impressed I am at the speedy response of Police brass in attending to this and with decisive action.
This is sad, the real problem which is the politicians who take money from foreign investors that courses the country to lose big opportunities are still in their offices. These people who are stripping their fellow off the work are the ones who have taken bigger bribes yet they want scapegoat someone
Look, I used to work for a waste disposal company driving a garbage truck. You dare not even collect a tip or gift from a resident or a company depending on your route. If it gets reported, your job is gone.
Even the Ghanaian policeman asking for her number should be questioned! Under no circumstances should any uniformed security agent ask for a person private number.
