I just love this video! As an African-American it inspires me to learn more about my ancestral heritage. These name have so much rich history and meaning--love it! Thank you for sharing your Nigerian culture.
I was actually going to name my daughter Oluwatamilore but at the last minute we decided to go with Oluwadarasimi. Loved the video. I just love our Nigeria culture it's so rich xx
your mother explaining the meaning behind your brother's names is a major wow factor because God honored her in them! She has a prophet and a minister look at God
Whist I'm not pregnant any more, I feel like it wasn't that long ago that the discussion of names was a hot topic in this household. I've joined in on this mummy tag with my lovely mum. But we did our own version, sharing our top 10 'Yoruba' baby names. I hope this list gives you some inspiration for your little one... Enjoy x
Toluwanimi, I am God's own. I love the name because I feel it gives the child a sort of confidence to know he's never alone. like God has got your back always, because you're his own. My child is definitely going to have that name 💚💚
I'm Kehinde and absolutely love my name. Thanks for preserving our culture by making your twins bear the names. Most Yoruba families in the diaspora fail to continue the legacy.
I'm noticing this and finding it very worrying, even the generation that didn't teach us Yoruba gave us Yoruba names, so now we have generations who won't be able to speak Yoruba nor bear Yoruba names.
Ahh. So nice to see Mum. I saw her once on the train but was too shy to say hi. If you were Ghanaian your kids will be called the following: Olivia - Penyin or Attaah Noah - Kakra or Atta Caleb - Tawiah
Thank you for making this video! My father is Nigerian and he never wanted to be apart of our lives. I have a Nigerian name and so do all of my siblings (my middle name is Nneka) and I’d like to give my child one! Thank you so much!
Thanks a lot for uploading this educative , informative and interesting video . First time on your channel and I really 💕 loved it and is very very entertaining and interesting to see & have your mum helping you out with this video . She is 100% 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 right Yoruba names are very meaningful and everything has a lot to do with God in Yoruba names . ( Omo Yoruba ni mi, ) .
Loved this, different from other Ines I've watched. It was so funny mum correcting you for butchering one of the names. I'd love to see you do a series with mum. She oozes wisdom, I'd love to hear her take on marriage, taking care of the home, God centred life........or whatever God places in your heart.
I loved this so much! Yoruba names are so rich - one reason I insist on pronouncing my daughters’ names. I always thought Idogbe was after Alaba and both unisex names oruko amutorun
Alaba and Idogbe are not the same please. Alaba, either male or female is the second child born after the twins while, the one born immdeiately after the twins is Idowu and it is unisex too. Idogbe is the 5th child which is born after Alaba but it is rearly used because by now, 4 children are already on ground and it is most likely there won't be any Idogbe but in situations where there is a 5th born, parents nowadays prefers to name the child liberaly because they feel Idogbe is old fashion.
Trying to find a beautiful Yoruba name for our Nigerian-American daughter but oh Lord I dont like any of them or think they are girly or pretty. I'm very sad
