Hi Tim. Saw this video prt 1 & 2 a while ago but still enjoy it AGAIN !! The long truck/trailer you saw in Belgium is the LZV (Long Heavy Vehicle) which is 25,25 meter. I discover where the idea came from as I went to Sweden where a Swedish friend (journalist) had to make a story on a transport company. And there he had an important question for the director ........... What is going on with some transportations I saw lately .?? The thing is that he saw that the hanger was not a Swedish type but like the trailers we use in Europe country like Germany, Holland etc. The difference was the bigger wheels and the lengt is 13,5 meter which make these combinations in Sweden illegal, over 24 meter normal, now up to 1,5 meter longer. So I witness this scoop and took the photos for my Truckstar Magazine and for my friens Trailer magazine. This way the knowledge grow on these LZV in Holland and after a while (years ??) they became a normal combination in Holland. Second. An ex colleague from Truckstar provide all that stuff you see at Joost and petrol stations to all most all stations. He is well know by Truckers. His name is Frans van der Hul. Perhaps a name for you to remember, He always have a BUG stand at Assen ........ (Named TRUCKS) Have a good time and will follow. Oscar Hoogendoorn.

Don’t quite understand why Tim drives all the way down to Dover, when he could choose Felixstowe and get a good night’s sleep on his way to Rotterdam. He would save about 250 miles driving in each direction - is that not 10+ hours road time saved, even if the ferry costs a bit more?

Reminded me of when I was a kid in the 70's going with my dad on long distance trips, we always seemed to start at 3am (ish), youre right about the rubbish, welcome to the dustbin of europe, and I NEVER thought i'd say it, but, there are not enough police on the roads! I drove from 1990 to 1998 in Holland france and Germany over night ferry from sheerness to Vlissingen then delivery to army and RAF bases of audio visual equipment to the bases it was clean then and the motorway services amazing the food was out of this world three course meals I drove to Switzerland in a 7.5 ton truck with Bernie from Rutherford labs , we had a fantastic four days delivery to laboratory in Cerne Love the roads and so clean

Tim it was really great to see you out and about doing what you love and including others along the way, even if you get woken from your sleep. I think you need to swot up on your knowledge of Euro travel as a trucker and learn to concentrate on the driving instead of the truck. Yes, I enjoyed the vlogs, thank you!

I used to run airfreight from Heathrow to Ostend or Schiphol at weekends. I used to love getting off the ferry or train the other side. It's so so much better and you get looked after better as a driver. I used to find the other airfreight drivers from the rival Dutch companies really nice and always helpful over there. I hope you get more jobs over there so that we can see your content. BUT remember, get your paperwork sorted, that's one thing I learnt from Day 1. 🙂🙃🙂

Well done on your Dutch run Tim. I'm a Dutch hgv driver myself. FYI if you cross the channel on a ferry or train you should put your tacho on ferry mode ! I would hate it if you get done for it.

Fantastic trip but weren't you nervous with coming through Calais just in case you got any stowaways? My late Dad came through Calais in the dark and had bricks chucked at his cab from the side of the road. Maybe they hoped he'd stop but he didn't, even though he lost a mirror in the fracas. He reported it as soon as he could while still in france.

Why is everything so much nicer out here - I can think of one thing they dont have much of.
