Hi. It is not necessary. I wanted to achieve the effect of brushed wood.If you like it, leave it like that, but it should be dry and covered with wood oil or varnish.

What can I use for the blackening effect, is it a certain kind of oil or just paint?

Yes, these bulbs are not very powerful. It's safe. Use a low-power bulb.

This bulb does not get very hot. It is safe, but in the end I replaced it without the string

@@magicwoodjewelry i don't have wood oil 😭 so I'll do varnish but not sure about how it will actually look afterwards. The shine of varnish....on wood.... I guess it will ruin the whole wild effect. Me double minded 🤔 Wish I could show you my piece 😆

looks good, but I'm concerned about the metal wire at the switch where the cables are attached very badly. At 7:52 - 8:04 you can see the exposed inner cables left and right side of the switch which means, there's no working strain/cable relief. Just a matter of time until the live conductor is exposed and the florist's wire may get live as well.
