Night Loon Calls 

Awesome video! I knew that loons are built for the water to the truest extent, but I've never seen one walk on land before to know just how truly far back their legs are and how they walk. That's one heck of a waddle. Phenomenal video, thanks for posting! =)

Okay, so this is my first time in MN visiting my bf, I wake up and run to him 'There's this creepy sound!' Yea and now I find out its just a bird, fabulous. lol

At 1:27, that's defiantly an elk call. They have the longest screech, howling sound. And it picks up in pitch many times during their call. Loons would haves been nice to hear though...

Ok - kind of terrifying. I camped on a little island in the middle of a pond in NH and the loons were calling for the first part of the night. It's a great accessory to ghost stories!

It's like scream

These screams are actually Elk calls. Loons have more of a soothing "wail"

We've found one water bird down by the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, right where the Crow's Nest is.

Where can you find these peaceful birds?

I know male and female loons have different calls, but I can never remember...which one sounds like a screaming lady and which one sounds like a high-pitched giggle?

That almost sounds like an elk. Or someone trying to kill someone. Spooooooooky!!!! As you can tell, I am nowhere near where these birds are from.

I thought I'd let you know that in this video the loon call which is being made is a distress call so please don't stay there and scare them like that or they will exhaust themselves by doing a dance knows as the "Penguin Dance" and will if not left alone die from tiring themselves out. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I just love loons like you do and don't want them to die trying to protect themselves and their family. 1:35 it sounds like a scream

This sounds human. Like, everyone says "This sounds like someone being murdered", and it's TRUE. It's really eerie how a bird can sound almost exactly like a human. What's funny is, this is the only video I've seen where the loons sound this eerily similar to humans. I've seen some people say the sounds might be elks, but judging by how the call sounds when it starts, it definitely sounds like a loon. It's interesting.

In the book pet sematary Jud tells Louis that any sounds he hears on the way to the cemetery are just loons. Now I know what he was talking about.
