Samsungs can do this since s7. Also, you could manually adjust white balance, temperature.. also shoot raw. But I guess they didn't do proper marketing.

@kevinkee it took the iphone 11 pro years to have night mode (intel apple were sure its good enough) and the pixel 3a XL is a last years model with 1 camera lens against the latest 3 camera lenses device. we need to wait the pixel 4 for a comparison and see google latest device's full potential

@@Chstrjd They did use a single lens for three iterations of their device so I would hardly call that a lie. Apple has made many statements that they have reversed their positions on over the years. I remember when they declared that consumers didn't want big iPhones and that they wouldn't make them then after losing money to phablets and large phones reversed positions. The number and size of sensors can contribute to quality but it's not he only factor as Google has shown.

These Night mode's has nothing to do with multiple lenses.. all it does it take long exposures correcting tiny blurs due to handshake with software and brighten the whole thing up & does a hell lot of noise reduction with again.. software..

Nathan Alagappan Mate can you take a minute to appreciate that any smartphone can turn night into day if you have a Tripod and don’t move. It’s called a long exposure. Do it now on your phone! Download a free camera app that allows you to control shutter speed and do 10 second shot. The break through of these night modes this year was the ability to do it hand held. Something she didn’t do, which makes me think she doesn’t really understand photography.. But then neither do most people who buy a $1500 camera phone lol

@@robert7622 both of these phone has neither pro mode altogether, so it may be close in terms of dynamic range. However, the stability of the image is what we want to found about, and apple deep fusion might help to to further increase the gap. Wonder how pixel 4 can do to fight that.

@@robert7622 Long exposure brings in grain along with light. The longer the shutter stays open, the grainier the image will be. And a 10 second shot would be grainy as hell. If it were as simple as keeping the shutter open longer, night modes in phones wouldn't exist, would they? It takes a lot of post-processing to take images like these!

@@sisir360 Nope, you have a fundamental miss understanding of long exposure photography. Long exposures only downfall is your camera and subject need to be dead still. Night modes were invented to work when the camera and subject is moving so the image inst blurred.

I liked both tbh. Sometimes I liked the iPhone because it was very natural and was bright. But other times I liked the Pixel (like in portraits or buildings) because it gave a darker, colder picture, which makes it look like night (if it’s too bright it won’t look ‘cool’) and brings out the lights in places such as buildings.

The thumbnail photo from the Pixel was NOT taken with Night Sight enabled. When you look at a night sight photo in the gallery, it will say "Night Sight" in the top right with the moon symbol. Notice how at 1:09 it says Night Sight on the display, and at 6:19 it doesn't. This particular case wasn't a fair comparison.

The 699 iPhone has the same night mode and cameras as the $1100 one minus the telephoto which you won’t be using at night anyways. The pixel is great though, but there’s also a reason why it’s $400 and the pros are 1000. One of those reasons is a 4K60 selfie camera, and 3 cameras on the back capable of 4K 60

The only real difference I saw was iPhone had a little more detail and the pixel tends to increase the brightness on the pics. But all you need to do is lower the exposure levels before you take a shot and it will look like the iPhone.

I heard that they developped their algorithm for night mode such that it uses the ultra wide for stabilizing the multiple exposure shots. And since the 11/11 Pro are the only iPhones that have the ultra wide camera, they can't just transfer that feature over to older devices which don't have that lens. They'd have to at least create a different night mode algorithm for older cameras. But I could be wrong :x

Night sight arrived on Pixel 3 and was made available to humble Pixel 3a, previous gen Pixel 2 and Pixel 1. Can't Apple provide Night Mode to last few generations of iPhones (at least up to iPhone X, if not iPhone 8s and 7s). What's the point of touting prowess of A-series chips if they cant update previous iPhones with night mode while Pixel can on 8X5 Qualcomm chips? May be then not many people will upgrade to newest iPhones? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ And oh! How does night mode compares to pixel's on Selfie camera?

Looks like the iPhone 11 has a longer exposure time, so it can pick up more light than the Pixel 3a XL

And Pixel 4 can extend up to 15 seconds on normal night mode and 1min and 30 sec on Astrophotography mode , it will obliterate the competition lol

Aj Reyes Astronomy exposures are different than your average exposure for a normal picture. If you used the astronomy exposure to take an average picture it would be insanely bright.
