Night of The Headless Horseman (1999) 

Remember freaking out to this movie as a kid. Just rented it off the video store because I didn't know where to get the Disney version which I read about in a book.

I can't believe how technology has advanced so much since 1999. Back then I was just getting into stuff like Maya and 3D Studio Max. I'm still doing Maya as a hobby today.

I remember buying the this on vhs in costco, didn't know what to expect but just the story of sleepy hollow. But man this version feels dark. The music still sticks to my head to this day

Here's something interesting. This TV version and VHS version are different. The VHS copies are roughly 10 minutes longer than the TV airing and some scenes are edited differently and even some lines of dialogue and sound effects that are different.(Possibly as a way to not make this special "too scary" for kids) Here's differences in the VHS vs TV airing. 16:57 In VHS version, instead of a flash of the horseman's severed head the head is actually shown landing and rolling on the ground 18:02 VHS, the lights temporarily goes out after the lightning strike. But the TV version makes more since since electricity wasn't a thing in the early 19th century 19:50 This scene if a few minutes longer in the VHS version. Brom Bones sneaks up to the schoolhouse window and shoots a couple slings at Ichabod and convinces bad CG kid to joke about the headless horseman wanting Ichabod's head. Then the scene continues the way Brom walks up to the schoolhouse 31:24 Ichabod and Catrina's dance sequence is a minute and 15 seconds longer in the VHS version 37:00-37:30 There's a more chilling/haunting music score when Ichabod starts his ride in the VHS version 38:40 Disembodied echoes of voices calling Ichabod's name is only in the VHS version, hence why Ichabod makes the statement about the echoes gunpowder's hooves even the haunting music is changed 40:05 This entire chase sequence is has things mixed around in the TV version with different sound effects is used than the VHS. The biggest change is the end. The VHS shows the flaming jack o lantern collide with Ichabod's head and the horesman's laugh instead of this weird freeze frame 42:42 the final difference is in this version is instead of a fishbowl warped effect on Ichabod's face , the VHS version shows the same model of Ichabod's head with a different darker color scheme and glowing eyes.

Perfect timing for this, cheers friend! Weird that this version appears censored though.

This version and Tim Burton's version are the only ones I like. Both I think are better than the book.

I remember my mum renting this on VHS, she let me watch it alone during the afternoon but she closed the curtains so the room was dark...I remember this film actually terrifying me, there was just something about it. I was probably about 5 or 6 maybe. Good times 😂 I'd definitely watch a remake of this with better graphics, its so well done.
