The nostalgia this song brings up is borderline painful. I can almost smell the trees on the block I grew up on, I can still feel the optimism that was in the air during the 80s. I miss it so much.
My childhoood in the 80's was so magical, and my teenage years in the 90's were so much fun, after you know when in 2001 it's been, well, let's say different... but i'm definitely grateful for those decades :)
@@Ciclopea2 I'd streach it.and say that after the stock market and housing crash in 07-09 things were great! 911 sucked ass too but the 00s were still pretty good
@@Matanumi imo changes in society just don't happen overnight, at least in my experience 9/11 marked a before and after, things were good for a few years after that, but you could tell things were NEVER gonna be the same, and here we are, pointing out the obvious.
Class of ‘89 here. We didn’t know how good we had it at the time. We had it all, especially freedom, in a way that can not be understood by kids today.
I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor in tribute to the age of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.

Maybe your neighbor is the dude from boogie nights that dirk digger, Todd Parker and Reed Rothschild went too rob his coke. He's gotta be listening too awesome 80s mixtape #5 on cassette of course 😅
I'm not afraid of dying, just getting old. Why can't we be born old and go backwards. I miss my youth. I'm 53 and disabled. What I would give to be 18 again!
I'm with you, Lisa. I miss my youth as well. The 80's were spectacular when I was a teenager. The 90's were fantastic seeing my daughter grow up and spending so much time with her. Now that she's married, I can honestly say that there's a deep void in my heart. It's great to relive those days in my mind through this type of music. Cheers darling.
@@Jerseymatt1865 you think we couldn’t watch this before the internet? It was played on MTV, the radio, records. Things were actually creative pre internet. It’s killed music. Yeah there is a few good bands but they never last anymore. All the bands that are around were around pre Napster. The only thing financially viable is solo artists
I'm 55 and yeah the 80s were the best. born late 60s grew up in 70s come of age in 80s. All the best music and great times. We've seen alot. If I could only go back to those days. Take care
The 80’s were THE best. MTV, Saturday morning cartoons, actually going OUTSIDE and socializing with your friends, sleepovers,Friday night family night at Pizza Hut, Arcades, etc. I’m so glad I was able to enjoy that decade.
My life right now may be pitiful, but I was blessed to have grown up in the 80's. This song brings me joy and sadness because time cannot be rewound and these were indeed great times.
My friend I graduated in '85 ...these were epic songs and times, but just think Van Halen was massive, The Cars were so smooth, Run DMC was breaking barriers, and we had just been blessed with The Sugar Hill Gang, Midnight Star, and Michael was tearing it up!!!!.... My life is nearing it's end, and though some would bitch and complain, I lived through the best of times in recent history...find peace, God has it for all of us...❤
Great post Belle, yes it was a Awesome Decade to have lived through. Be sure to get a Brown Scapular for yourself. The Blessed Virgin wants everyone to be in Heaven. Give yourself this undeniable sacred gift from Jesus's mother. No one who does in this clothe will suffer damnation. That's Awesome. Not saying you are a bad person, just want you to have this gift from Heaven. It can only help, not hurt. Look it up and read about it, not long. But the gift is eternal.👍.
@@belleerion6549Hey fellow GenXer I graduated in 86 and my life is at the cusp of rebirth as I prep for a my 2nd and true purpose in life. I hope you are well and live another 50yrs.
The 80s were the greatest. Hell I'm 55 now. Friday nights after football games I'd come home shower and watch Miami Vice I had recorded on vcr. Those were the days.
@@ragapibarino well I will say that that error producef the top two greatest rock and roll band of all time... The Beatles and led Zeppelin. However music as a whole and still going to say the 80s has got you guys 🙂🇺🇸
What? Are you serious 😅@Dwightfairfield. 80's so much better! You say that because you dont knew them... 90's = dance, techno, internet, social network, etc, in short the beginning of the end and all shit

I graduated from a catholic all girls high school in 1984 me and my friends used to sing this in the halls between classes. I'll never forget this song.
when drug lords and mafias and corruption and extacy and cocain ruled the streets and ruined lives ? ( *NO* ) I'VE NEVER BEEN INTO A DARN PARTY PUB SUUUUUUUURE the music we're awesome. And will 4ever be awesome. ALL THOUGH on the other hand. THERE WE'RE drugs related that *R U I N E D L I V E S* My point is. from 60s to 80s and 90s sucked ass more than ever will be. *SURE* there is places in the world that still goes by those books and ruins lives *..........* BUT ! It's not as much because off what people did to take down those drug lords. You don't want to end upp as a nobody dead extacy overdose addict in an alley do you Dave Mckee ? Or maybe a heroin coke addict ? Point here is. FROM 60s to END OF 90s SUCKED!!! only that was great was the music. Now we got cure for cancer. and so much more. and god knows what will bring in the future. maybe cure for epilepsy. oh wait, we have. but it costs 20 grand euro's to get it out ( *IF* possible ). who. WHO !! in the world has the money for that kind'a surgery just to remove something that can make you a vegetable someday
Oh my god. Memories of me burning the midnight oil for my exams in the 80s and this song came up on the radio.... Calmed my nerves and soothed my soul. What a song. Thank you Night Ranger. ❤
Class of 85 here. This song brings such a range of emotions to me. Happiness because times were much more simple and life was good. Then a sense of sadness and broken heart because I had to make a hard decision and let my forever girl go. I had been pouring my life into her and I was still her fallback second choice. In the end, I won and found my forever girl now of 34 years. The good lord knows what is best for us. The 80s were the best time in life to be a teenager. Hands down.
@@barryhessel6078to simplify it, at the time I was kind of her best friend and her fall back boyfriend when something fell through with another relationship. I couldn't keep pouring myself into her. I ended finding my current wife and she tried talking me out of marrying my current wife. She knows now what she missed out on. We still keep in close contact as friends but that in itself is very dangerous. Sad but happy situation. I believe God knows best for us 😊
This song came out the summer I graduated from HS. I went to a private school, so the video really hit close to home. How I miss those days. The 80's were a wonderful time.
In the 80's I would lie in bed, listening to my Sony Walkman thinking how great the future was going to be, now, it IS the future, and all I want is to go back to 1982!
I grew up listening to this song in grade 12 and the song "Sister Christian" was really like the next stage of life for me as I grew up in a small southern Saskatchewan rural farming town of 2500. Went off to Kelsey in Saskatoon and did two years of automotive mechanics and then to Calgary where I worked as a machinist and parts person at Canadian Tire. After that, I went to university and got my B.Ed degree and then my Master degree in Education, followed by a my permanent certification as a teacher. This song always brings back so many high school memories since back in 1986 I was just a stupid teenager growing up in the middle of no-where and now today I am an Elementary / High School teacher with a Masters in ESL I came a long long ways since high school so Sister Christian by Night Ranger has really special meaning to myself.... I do really miss my high school classmates b/c everyone that we attended kindergarten with moved through the public school system as single cohesive group for 13 years. That means all +50 of us stayed together from kindergarten all through school till the end of grade 12 where after high school in 1986, everyone went their separate ways.
Class of '87 here... all this great music we grew up with throughout high school never fades. I've lost a few classmates, family, and friends over the years... but the music and memories keeps them all alive within my mind. 👍👍👍
1986 here. Music was great . Incredible times they were special. I've lost lots of my friends too. Lost em way too early. Here I am somehow and they live along with me in the music and memories. Take care
No, me in 1983 sorry... And from past i dont understand why this sentence is everywhere. What's the point? I hope that in 2024 I will understand better, but I think I will still find it a bit stupid...
Nothing better than the 80’s, I tell ya. Rampant homophobia, and racism, the AIDS epidemic, the Cold War, the space shuttle Challenger disaster, the Wall Street crash, the Iran-Iraq war, police corruption, and the war on drugs. Damn I miss the 80s..
Me too. I'd say the best years of my life, but life has thrown some pretty cool things at me lately, so it seems more about who you are than what era it is...still, 80s music brings me back to a happy (and fun :)) time
KangaRooney and yet nobody gave a damn! Life was simple! Still the best times of the lives of most people who lived through it! If you concentrated on all that garbage then you missed a great decade!
If there is one song that reminds me of my high school days in the early 1980s, this song is it. Thank you to all my buds, classmates and teachers. I miss so many from then. RIP Marcos, my brother from another mother. -Rick (Lehigh Valley, PA)
High School ...82 ~86 one of my first concerts! Huge bands with no outrageous price gouging. I literally worked to go to concerts. US festival 83 California. So many amazing bands and people ✌
I am 48. This song was at the top of the charts when I was going into middle school. I remember cars driving down the street, windows down blaring this song along with others popular during that time (there was alot of ICONIC songs from era). The 80's were a beautiful time. I bought this tape with my own money. I had a walkman, and I would ride my bike and sing this song riding to meet up with my friends at the arcade. Then we would meet up in "Dead Mans Woods" to smoke, cigarettes and weed. We'd pass the walkman around or put 2 heads in the headset (always good with the girl you liked) and jam while getting stoned. My first vehicle I bought with cash, a 71' Chevy truck short bed. Power steering would stick some times but it would haul ass. First song I played in my truck through many events and it was played at my wedding in 1998. I miss music like this. Im not one of those old folks that bags on todays music. This song along with others from that era are timeless.
@J LA my cousin was 89’. He had a bad ass record collection and lived it. Man he hated tapes. He kinda jumped into CD’s later. Damn that was still a while back
This song brings tears to my eyes in a good nostalgic way. We had the best music in the 80s. We had MTV before it got watered down. I remember wanting to meet Martha Quinn… We thought we were invincible!!!
Man I'm 54 yrs old and this really brings back memories,of me and my friends going to the movies and meeting girls...or just hanging out and thinking about what we were going to be!! Miss that.
Back in the 80s there was hope and optimism and it was a great time to be alive......now there is doom and gloom and the end is coming that is what progress gets us:(
Boogie Nights...that's all I gotta say....that film has forever changed this song for me,for those that's seen the film no explanation is necessary...and for those that has never seen it,what are you waiting for?
They played at a club I bartered at in the 90s. They were SO good. They also hung out after and didnt even pick up groupies. They were just cool "dont tell me U love me..."
This was the song that I thought of my girlfriend every time it played. In 1984 we were married and I still get emotional from hearing it! It takes me back to the days and nights we were dating! Kelly is A-1 vocalist and drummer!!!
The 80s was a magical time, I'm so happy that there are videos documenting this time and younger generations can hear and see what I enjoyed. Be happy and strive to achieve your goals. Noone will do it for you or help you. You have to do things for yourself. DON'T rely on others! Work hard and focus to achieve all of your goals. Live your life, pay your bills, save your money! Always be happy, celebrate the music and enjoy all of the holidays.
@@gunsnrosesdefinition7672 Yeah man, noticed how most 90s - Today's band are more common on the algorithm and media but 80s bands and music in general are pretty left out especially the smaller ones.
June is graduation season & this song always comes to mind when I see young graduates & their adult lives beginning!! Also, makes one strongly reflect on their own!!🎓 🎶
74 year old female who still adores this track - and wonderful memories of the 80's ........ also can't get enough of Don't Tell Me You Love Me. Awesome band ❤
If I had a do-over in life...I would love to start over in the 80’s...no worries,..just a good time...Listening to these songs makes me very sad....If I could only change a few things...I would be in a better place.
I never liked school dances much and stopped going to them, and to high school in general. Before college, I didn't do much with the girls that I met in school. I didn't like the whole fishbowl effect, where everybody is watching and talking about everything you do. I sought out my female companionship beyond the Platonic in places outside of school. But I think it would be much more difficult to do that now. Although, if I knew then what I know now, I could have had more fun during my time in high school, fishbowl or not.
@yo I was about 17 in 1980. I had fun too, but I was also had to deal during that decade dealing with my drug addition, a failing marriage, housing instability and falling grades in college. Once I got into recovery and got my pwn apartment, things got better, but I still lived in a really, really scary and violent slum for a couple of years until I moved tho the less scary slum where I still live.
We do know. I'm intensely envious of your generation. What a time the 70's-90's must have been to really experience. You guys had one of the best periods in human history to be alive and enjoy. Growing up in the early 2000's to present day, what a bleak future we have. Cherish your great memories.
I'm going to see them in concert next Friday. I had never heard of them before so I had to check out their music. I'm glad I did. I love this song. I think I'm really have fun. ❤❤❤
I love this song! The guitar solo in this song is absolutely amazing and chilling These guys were so talented! So glad I grew up in the 80's with the best music ever! Thank goodness for iheart and RU-vid where I always have access to 80's music.
Thank God I was born in the 60s, grew up during the 70s, got married during the 80s, Laughed, Loved, and Lived LARGE during them all ..... 3 decades of music that never will be repeated
I'd be honored if some fans of 80s power ballads would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger, AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins, and PURPLE RAIN by Prince on my YT channel in tribute to the legends. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and keep on rocking.
Born in '69, grew up in the 70s and graduated in 1988. I can still hear Kasey Kasem announcing Sister Christian by Night Ranger on hot Sunday afternoon by the pool 🇺🇸🙌🏻
Those were the days brother. 55 now whered all the fuckin time go. Seems like yesterday. The best of times. Gettin old sucks. Wish I could do it all again...knowing what I do now.
Ditto Most of the songs in my son's Spotify account are from before he was born. He'll watch old RU-vid videos of concerts and tell me how lucky I was to grow up with all that great music!
I just turned 60. I lived my 20s through the 80s. Your words speak mine exactly! From 71 through 91 my life was defined by FUN!!! How lucky I was living those amazing times! Such amazing music! We were all kinda libertarian liberal/conservative mixed just having good times! What happened??? Suddenly there's lefties forcing everything all catawampus today... & suddenly I'm a 60year old white supremacist toxic male nazi... Huhhhhhhhh??? WHATTTTTTTT??? Oh well - whatever - I'm still having fun listening to music like this so I'll enjoy smiling while the all the victim youngsters throw temper tantrums at each other today. Yep - you & I were lucky beyond our ever knowing it having lived our 20s in the 80s!!! Peace! -J.
I was 14 in middle school when this song came out. Still love this song. Never knew the drummer Kelly Keagy sang the song until years later. He’s a great vocalist.
The true time machine. Music. The screaming guitar riffs of the 80's. The hair bands that instilled the lives forever of those lucky enough to be a part of that moment in time.
The 80's was and still are the BEST!!!! SO GLAD LIVED IN THOSE YEARS!! WE HAD THE BEST OF EVERYTHING NO OTHER DECADE CAN EVEN COME CLOSE!! WE HAD FAMILY TIMES, GREAT FRIENDS AND MOST OF ALL RESPECT!!!
How did we have family times? Mom was under intense pressure to work outside the home, followed by coming home to do housework because it was still regarded as housework. That meant she was too tired to do family things.
My sister is 5 years older and basically raised me and taught me everything I learned. Our mom was emotionally/mentally absent so she stepped up. She put her life on hold to make sure I was ok until I left home. But we both have trauma from growing up, and I think she resents me for keeping her from missing out on opportunities due to looking out for me. It’s sad we have no relationship now, but I hope she knows how grateful I am.
I have always loved this song, but it never hit me as hard as it did until I gave birth to our Daughter. She's 20 now, and as life is as it is...like those before her, she grew up to fast. ❤
