Did my 18th as my first module in my apprentaship as it was run as rolling course so depended when you started as to what module was running. Basically the course was a mix of 1/2/3rd year apprentices and you started at whatever point they were at.

My friend did similar installs for warehouses and stores. They rented out equipment but not 100% shows up working. Always missing a few bits. Or didn't fully test before leaving, requiring more visits. Those glitches eat into the profits of fixed bids so they just had to cushion bids for inevitable "unexpecteds". They always won the jobs they underbid lol.

The Petzl Vertex helmets are a good replacement. They come with chin straps and you can also add visors, ear defenders and head torches as per need for each job. I wear mine all the time for work and you barely notice you are wearing one!

He’s finally back.. 1:03 never heard of that either. I’m at the end of an apprenticeship myself and didn’t do the 18th edition until the 3rd year. Might depend on who the training provider is.

I do 7 days straight of nights tom...i know how it feels.. though I stop naughty people escaping. I do think bus lanes should be timed, so off peak, they are normal running lanes and aid mass transit during rush hour. Norwich has a couple of these as do other places.

We had an apprentice who was sent on a 17th edition course on his first week and he failed,reported back saying he did not know what they were talking about.

They’ve restructured it a lot recently - they get health & safety along with the 18th out the way to begin with so they can focus on the rest of it. Think as well it depends when people start whether they chuck it at the start of the course or the end due to amendments etc. The other class when I was at college had to do their 18th twice because they sat the 1st amendment and a couple of months later the 2nd amendment came out 🤣

Genuinely surprised the buffer trucks in europe / Scandinavia have not made it to the uk. Would make jumping up and down doing cameras and lights easier. Im not sure they are usually the same company, just another contractor.

Another interesting episode Thomas. Can I make a few observations? When you are putting in your TM cones and signs, have your vehicle fending off in between oncoming vehicles and the site while you and the guys put the kit out walking backwards looking at your van so if you do get the muppet driving towards you, you can dive out of the way rather than getting wiped out. Also, when you put your cones out, double the steps between cones to give you more distance and they get more time to move over, theres not enough distance on the sites shown on the video. I have the JSP Evo Vistashield full face at just over 500g, which compared to your Onyx2 at just under 800g is a helluva lot lighter, and the ear defenders clip on nicely to it, so not as sexy beast in the looks department but kinder on your neck.

I’ve seen one or two comments and I think they need a dressing by someone. These cameras are not to catch you out they serve various functions if it’s near the M25 these can be used for traffic management because if they can’t live out from numberplates that go through then work out what cars are going in different directions they can actually feed it back to motorway control and allow them to adjust speed limits and things like that to make the motorway work efficiently. These cameras are also good for simply checking your car is allowed to be on the road because of the driver of that car is disqualified perhaps they shouldn’t go on the motorway because there is a legitimate reason.

Don't want to sound like a old fuck, but the way they do apprenticeships now is shit, use to be you got took on by a firm 4 year apprenticeship 9 months on site 3 months at college each year ,and i worked for a firm that was M+E, so the pipefitters and sparks went through the same process learning the trade.

I used to love watching you when you were an electrician but now not so much. I can't believe you are now installing all these enforcement cameras.
