I loved everything about SOR4 also including the art style like I said in the video. But for sure their were a lot who didn't like the art style, it was one of the reasons they added the "ambience layer effect" in the settings to add more shading to the art compared to the original reveal trailer as people were not feeling it. But let's not get it twisted this is no Streets of Rage 4, people are saying this looks like a flash game something they also said about SOR4 after the initial reveal trailer. I was just mentioning it in the video to make the point, this art style shouldn't be compared to SOR4 offhandedly like that as it does a disservice to the SOR4 art style.
@@1invisibleB ah ok so the criticism came before the release of SOR4. 💯 Agree this game not at all like SOR4. As you were talking about the art style before jumping into the game, i thought it couldn't be that bad, I'd still buy any beat em up. But now after seeing it, I'm hesitant 🙃
@@michaels9595 Regarding SOR4 yep some didn't like the art style before the release but to be honest you can still do a Google search and find those same comments after the release & changes they made as adding shading can only do so much. The reason you don't hear it as much now is because SOR4 was sooooo good as a final product that it silenced most of the critics of the art. They don't want to die on that hill when you have one of the best beat' em ups in the last 20 years lol. I have a massive soft spot for beat' em ups also (90's gamer 😅) that's why I wanted to cover this. Unfortunately this game isn't it for reasons stated in video, at least the price is not bad, wait a little bit more & I bet it will be a even cheaper so can try without much investment. @@TechMetalRules Agree 100% pixel art stood the test of time better than most art styles from the PS2 gen & before imo. If you enjoyed the video plz don't forget to like & subscribe 👊
