This flick is a typical '60s teen exploito, but it has some good location shots of Chicago and an exceptional cast, including Richard Dreyfuss, Patty "The Bad Seed" McCormack, and Norman "Mr. Roper" Fell as you'll see here. [Cast also includes Isabel "Louise Jefferson" Sanford and Dick "2nd Darren" Sargent!] The first band at the nightclub is the Gordian Knot, performing "Ophelia's Dream." The second band is uncredited; I have no idea if they were a real group or just actors.

Wow, Richard Dreyfuss pre-stardom! Also, the teen girl dancing at the club is played by Patricia McCormack of "The Bad Seed" fame. She was Oscar-nominated for her performance as an 8-year-old murderer in "Seed," which came out when she was 11. "The Young Runaways" was released in 1968, when 23. That's Norman Fell, who later played Stanley Roper on "Three's Company," as her father. It's funny, he reunited wtih McCormack in the 1979-80 spinoff "The Ropers," in which they played neighbors.

The band in plaid is THE GORDIAN KNOT who released only 1 album: TONES. There's a contemporary band by that name but I'm obviously referring to the one from the 60's. Lead singer Jim Weatherly wrote Gladys Knight's MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO GEORGIA. The band toured with the USO to Vietnam alongside Nancy Sinatra. For those interested in more information the best way to find them is to google Mesmirization Gordian Knot which will take you to the mesmirization blogspot on the band.

Brian Wilson It's a wonderful song -- Ophelia's Dream -- but it is only available in these scenes from the movie. The song is haunting.

I was 17 when I saw this on it's first release. My hippie friends and I laughed at how out of touch it was with the way things really were. Typical Hollywood trying to make a movie for "the kids" and as usual, getting it all wrong.

@amy butchas--I saw this at the theater also when I was young and thought it was the most risque movie I had ever seen!!! Compared to today, it is really quite tame! I haven't been able to find it since. So glad it was posted. I liked Patty's bf until he turned out to be an abuser...yeah I know, I really know how to pick 'em right? LOL!

McCormack went by Patty at the time but has been going by Patricia for several years now.

Typical Hollywood attempt to be "relevant" at a time of huge social changes, but still looking and sounding very artificial. When "Easy Rider" was released a year later, shot on location and a lot more gritty and nasty, that changed how things were going to look for years to come.

@hebneh Yeah but it had some good scenes too . I remember that one where the young girl ( spoiler alert) who was launching a career as a call girl wound up having to be identified by the parents and the comments made by the Father towards the Mother. Just awkward and horrible and the look on the Coroner’s face having to hear it but it still was well done

Where can you see MORE of this movie" You mention " it has some good location shots of Chicago" but unfortunately there is only a single one-second shot (Piper's Alley?) in this excerpt.
