I’m in the market for a 1-8. Currently running a Steiner p4xi which I love but I need extra reach. Debating on snagging the atacr you’ve got there. A lot of coin to drop on glass but very worth it. Nice setup you’ve got. I’ve got basically the same upper but all black
Excellent video on an outstanding setup! I also have an Atacr 1-8x/Badger C1/RMR combo. An iRay RH25 is on the "to-do" list, but it's behind some other stuff (PVS-14 & LAM).
Another advantage of running an lpvo than a 2.5-10 or 4-16 or whatver, is that it allows you to run your piggy back dot a little more low profile so that your chin weld isn’t as bad. With the higher turrets you’ve gotta run a spacer which brings that optic up even higher
@@Recce_randy it also can act as a backup for your red dot if you choose to run the 12 o clock as your primary in cqb instances where you want to be more heads up. Having that 1x on the lpvo is a nice fail safe. You don’t have that luxury with a 2-10. I did some measurements, and I think you’ll only want to run a piggy back if you can run a 1.54 mount. The height it puts the dot at is just about as high as you’ll want to go. If you run a 2-10 with slightly raised turrets, you’ll put your red dot center line at 12 o clock with a spacer at about the same height as you would with a red dot and lpvo with capped turrets in a 1.70 height mount. I would never consider running an lpvo at that height if I was running a 12 o clock dot. This makes me think that if you’re running a 2-10 or more, you’ll want an offset. Lpvo and you’ll want 12 o clock as I think it’s slightly superior. Typing this out might actually make me put the breaks on what I’m about to do and that’s switch to a 12 o clock mount. Or switch to an lpvo again so I can run a 12 o clock, but I hate lpvo for long range
When you do the thermal video the main thing i want to see is the thermal through the magnification range at different distances. I have an ATACR/Badger/P2 combo and helmet mounted night vision. The clip on is my last major piece of the puzzle.
Sounds good I can go more in depth in the video but it’s an Wilcox mount for a trijicon skeetir thermal I used the factory iray pictail which I ground to fit
It seems like in New Mexico where I live, the ATACR. And the Gen 2 and 3 Razors are what the comp guys are running. I'm not a competitor. I shot competition in the Marines. But nothing like you guys are doing. I just like to see what these guys and gals are running. I had a Gen 3 1-10. Wasn't a fan. I think 1-6 and 1-8 is the sweet spot. I had a guy get mad at me. He had a full on Noveske rifle with a Gen 3. His rifle was way sub MOA. Like .38 at 100 with his handloads. But I kept up with him on targets with a Sionics rifle with chrome lined barrel. And a 1-8 Plx-c. He was kinda perplexed. He had waaayyy more money invested. 🤷🏼♂️ Plx-c has caused me to not have to think as much. I've become good at using the rudimentary estimation built into their reticles. I didn't realize that Noveske ran full on Stormy Daniels on their gas port diameters. Cause competitors seem to champion them a lot.
All about what you train with right. My initial thoughts on the 1-10 are pretty good if you have it on a stock with adjustable cheek height if not it’s a bit annoying to find the eyebox at 10x perfectly repeatable
@@Recce_randy Yes sir. It's not the fact that the Gen 3 is hard to get behind or any of that. I run a B5 Bravo on most of my stuff. I had no problem. It's the fact that when I recieved my first Plx-c...I no longer liked the Gen 3. 🤷🏼♂️ It's a thing with me. I sold it to a friend. It's his thing.
My Spuhr mount is 1.5” with Atacre 1-8 and my ADM mount and the Wilcox are supposedly 1.5” for the RH25 and they’re not even close to aligning. Seems like my scope mount needs to be around 1.7” what am I missing?
What front cover do you have on your Acro? Tried the tango down and those small screws just continued to just back out. This looks like a much better option
How is the 100 Concepts rear cap, does it legit stow out of the way with the Shock Collar? That's been my one complaint about the Tenebraex, it WILL foul things up.
I’ve had less issues with it than the tenebraex I’d say it’s pretty out of the way only time I notice it was when I try and change magnification by grabbing the entire ocular assembly
Currently debating between the nx8 and atacr now that they have the same reticle options. Is that clarity and light transmission really worth the squeeze for the cost, weight and size tradeoff?
What size is your rear scope cap and shock collar. When i ordered mine they were way too small for the atacr even though that was the recommended size.
gotcha the reason I ask is because I've attempted to put it on the front ring and the rear part of the T2 hits the turret. Didnt think of dialing for the rear turret, which I do at matches for certain stages and hold the difference for targets at different distances. I moved the scope back through the rings then that creates less space for the scope cap and I cant flip it up cause the T2 is in the way.@@Recce_randy
I haven’t really used it that way to me the helmet mounting aspect was something I was never really interested in my opinion it’s still pretty far behind night vision for moving
Depends on what you’re trying to do this works well for thermal for me but if I was going that mag range I’d pick up a 4-16 atacr or wait for the mk5 with the pr2
Keep it coming buddy. You have cool shit. Word of advice. Never have kids, lol I have 4. I’m 37. So I can’t be as financially sloppy as i would like to be.
Poortex 1-10 doesn’t even come close to ATACR 1-8. It’s very very underwhelming actually. To be fair though the industry as a whole just isn’t there w/ the 1-10’s yet the 1-8’s are far superior total packages some 1-10’s have a good feature or two but not the whole package like a good number 1-8’s and the PA PLxC and the ATACR lead the way ((there are a few outliers but you get the point)).
My initial range day with the 1-10 was pretty good I’d say as long as your not at max mag it’s super comparable to their 1-6 however the 10x is a very tight eye box but with a prs stock it was manageable
If you like the PLXc you owe it to yourself to check out the March 1-10 “shorty” dual focal plane LPVO.. Not only is it the same approximate size and weight as the PLXc, but the reticle is a “dual focal plane” setup where the illuminated center dot is on the 2nd focal plane with the rest of the reticle on the first.. Add to that the fact that it also has manual parallax adjustment, top tier glass, and the Gen 2 version now allows for the use of commonly available 34mm mounts… It’s fucking INCREDIBLE. And EVERYONE is sleeping on it.
