Basically Walt Disney himself was suffering from terrible nightmares and the only way he could finally sleep peacefully again was to use the nightmares as inspiration for creating Mickey and his friends, undying here represents Walt’s fear that his nightmares will never end. Once he succeeded, he brought his inspirations to life and created the Disney we know.
