NiGHTS Journey of Dreams Music: Crystal Castle (Vs Bomamba)(2nd Version) 

I always had trouble being this boss. Now I don't have a problem, but I would literally beat the boss without moving and always get C's and D's.

That's a good question. Based on research I did, I couldn't find much helpful. I tried searching the NiGHTS wiki and villains wiki on this villain, but neither of them explain the origin of her name. So I tried looking at the words individually. "Bo" at first, seemed to refer to another term for "boo", a common taunt used to scare people. Or it could be referring to the first name "Bo" meaning "to reside". On the other hand, "mamba" refers to a bunch of fasting moving snakes (which initially makes no sense, as Bomamba here has cats). However, it's possible that this refers to Bomamba having snake-like characteristics such as her skin and eyes. I found this on the villains wiki; "Bomamba was a replacement of a beta Snake-like character." This could mean that the writers/developers meant to change her name but simply forgot to, and/or they ran out of time to think of an alternate name for our witch. The second part of her name could also allude to the Brazilian ballroom dance of "samba", but this theme seems more like a waltz than a samba. Judging by all of this, I've come to the conclusion that Bomamba means "residing snake". I hope this helps.

@@tmntfangirl6898 the cats are basically just a head and a tail. They’re pretty snakelike themselves. And they’re also definitely pretty infuriatingly fast in the second battle.

Well, the "mamba" part of the name is likely a reference to a type of snake with the same name. Namely, they are known for their deadly venom.
