You pronounced Wacken correct. I lived there Wacken is a small Village in North Germany in the middle of nowhere. I lived there as the Metal festival evolved. Villagers where first upset and afraid of it bc we had hordes of Heavy metal fans, our Village was basicly invaded and overrun by the Metal Hordes. But now its fully adopted and Villagers are proud of it^^
Wacken is absolutely pronounced "Va-ken". Its in Germany, and the V & W sounds are reversed. Its funny, because you here Marco say, to contrast having a new singer (Floor) we'll play something from the Vaults... he pronounces it Waults, because he's European. Its in this concert.
You were sort of right, it did start slower. lol You did get the pronunciation of Wacken correct. That's Emppu (Em-pooh) Vuorinen on guitar, he and Tuomas are the only founding members left today. Floor has said that this song is one of the more challenging songs for her to sing. From the Tarja era , on the Century Child album in 2002. She got more tattoos in the years after this concert. Keep an eye out when you get to songs from 2015 and later.

I love that your going through all of the Wacken concert. Genuinely one of the greatest shows of the century so far. I do hope you continue with Nightwish beyond it though. There are a few, like The Greatest Show on Earth and The Islander both Live at Tempere that are legendary in their own right.

It's beautiful, isn't it how they surprise us with each song and how different each one is from the previous or the next one. All songs you have reacted so far were composed prior to the Floor era, none the less she really contributed, with her stage presence and voice, to give them a new life

FUN FACT: English is a subset of the West Germanic language group that also includes Scots Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, Frisian, Low and High German, and Dutch languages. I love this song. One of my favorites. It's always been up there pretty high among my favorites, due to the second half of it, after the key change, as well as Marko's parts (his voice is amazing), and her soft opening, with that smile at the end of it. Floor has said that this song is one of the most difficult for her to sing. She's belting in her mixed voice the entire second half of it, pretty high in her range. Looking forward to seeing what you listen to next. I know you have a list, so I don't need to suggest anything. Thanks for sharing with us (and no! I actually had not noticed that horseshoe tattoo before lol). I highly recommend adding the Wacken 2013 performance of Nemo to the list, if it isn't on there, but maybe closer towards the end, as it might be best as a retrospective of sorts, due to the audience sign. That one, for some reason, tears me up usually in the second half of it, and I have no idea why, exactly.
As others have said, slower, quieter Nightwish songs include Sleeping Sun (one of my favourites) and The Islander. I'd also add "Our Decades in the Sun" and "How's the Heart" to that (the fairly recent performances on stage have been a much more acoustical with just Floor and Troy for most of the song).
This one is in my top 5 (6?) too. You know, when you're done with Wacken (you're pronouncing it right, "Vaa-Ken") Vens-days, you have a PERFECT transition coming to Wembley Wednesdays! 😀

She was mentioned awhile back by Floor in an interview so I look her up. It was not disappointing. Now I fantasize a Nightwish/BTB joint concert. I could die happy at that point.
I always looked at this and Romanticide as a pair... ying and yang. this is the wishful, hopeful side of love... the beginning, whereas Romanticide is the hurtful, angry, end of love.
Tarja will always be my favorite but no doubt Floor brought the band to the masses and made NIGHTWISH what it is today. She's the Queen of NIGHTWISH but Tarja will always be my Godess.

I see a lot of comments of nw-fans struggling to pick a favorite song. For me thats easily Everdream (with Floor and Marco of course) each and every time. But i still get it - if you'd ask me for #2 i'd answer differently on a daily basis (most likely Alpenglow, Storytime oder Dark Chest of Wonders).
You said it pretty much spot on. The thing that has made YT viewers laugh is that people tends to call it "Whacken Open Air",and that puts imagery in peoples heads!🤣 1:42 Im guilty of having plenty of them in regards to Floor over the years 🤭(Wholesome ones,i promise!) Especially from this era,where shes not overly tatted up. Not that im looking down on her today for that reason,its just a visual preference thing,tatts has become soo common theese days,that i prefer to see women without them,or too many of them/large ones. 4:29 Thats Emppu (i think the Finns pronounce it more like "Emm-pooh!") The natural joker of the band,especially now that Jukka aka The Pirate is no longer drumming for them. Thoose 2 used to be the joksters within the band at first,he always smiles and laughs,and loves to prank the other members,especially Floor. She is a good sport about it,and tends to fire back at him lol. (Oh,yeah i forgot about that tiny horseshoe tatt,its so tiny that i really never minded it or even paied attention to it lol) That used to be her only tatt for the longest,before she had several and really large ones. Everyone unaware of Ever Dream tends to think its a slow love song,but then they build it up on you,and it really never seems to stop escalating. I know it fooled me first time listening to it myself,thats what i love about it,its like a crossover between 2 songs,1 slow and 1 fast.
Nightwish really captured lightning in a bottle with this lineup - everybody is in top form, and working together flawlessly. Jukka is an absolute (and precise) beast on the drums, Marko harmonizes incredibly well with Floor, and they all seem delighted to be there. I think you'll really like the song "Élan" ... it's more melodic and less thrashy than their heavy metal numbers.

Concur - I highly recommend the 2015 Tampere (Finland) concert versions for both, the best live versions IMO (and the only live version of The Islander, as far as I know)...
