I am a Floor funder for her channel, we get to sometimes have chats with her. One thing that worried me for her getting so much personal recognition with her covers and solo stuff lately that she would consider leaving. Her union with Nightwish is perfection to my ears. During a recent chat session some stated please never leave Nightwish. Without even the slightest of hesitations she said "Oh God no!" I love that answer. Another great reaction and congrats on the 1,000 subs.
I remember in an interview and asked if she's worried to be replaced for another time, she strongly replied that they can try but she's not going anywhere. I cried ;p
I agree with you all the way - Floor is a pro and a team player doing everything needed to perform the greatest version of the song - never overdoing it. The perfect storyteller. Her job, being the front and getting the audience's attention - she does this so perfect, and still leaving plenty of room to the others to shine - and actually, if you look at Emppu now - he is much more having fun on stage with Floor - their small intimate, appreciative and teasing moments, are priceless. They are all in sync as one "unit" - and that is Floor's personality that have made this come through. Just look how she enjoys it every time one of the others are in the spotlight "brothers in arms" she calls the band. *** Just to show you that you also likes ballads: Sleeping Sun, Tampere 2015 and Dead Boy's Poem, Buenos Aires 2018 Both are pure magic Or perhaps: Kiss while your lips are still red, Wembley 2015 - - - Marko lead, Floor backing and Troy on E-bow!!!
These three songs are amazing. Floor just doesn't feel the need to hog all the attention to herself during concerts. That makes her stage presence even more of a force of nature and genuine. Can't wait until Friday/Saturday.
Love all these suggestions. In the recent Virtual Concert Night 2 as Floor runs in to start Ghost Love Score, Emppu made a classy flourishing (floorishing. perhaps) bow to her after playing his opening. He certainly was paying respect.
I totally understand. Tarja was the singer when I discovered the band, and she's terrific. And I still enjoy the original versions of the songs that got me into the band, but Floor made me love Nightwish.
Highly recommend you check out the opener for this 2013 Wacken set, "Dark Chest of Wonders" - it's a great, high-energy opener that is about how you might expect Nightwish to open a show.
No matter how many times I listen to "Ever Dream"... I find it so fresh and original! It's like I am hearing it for the first time! Floor has even stated that " Ever Dream" is the hardest some to sing because of the way it's written and she has to sing so high the whole song...if that makes sense? Other's that I really like are "Elan"... just because it's like a song sung in a Pub and everyone is having a great time! Some others are " Nemo", " Come Cover Me", "Story time" "Romanticide"....I will stop there!
Totally agree. A lot of great singers always seem to show that they are great, but Floor isn't like that. She never profiles herself at the expense of other musicians or singers. She is not about showing, she is about giving. Dedicated and completely anticipated on the purpose of the song.
She absolutely is! So are the whole band, no egos just music and love for each other and the fans, it's one of the reason I love them. The are all genuine down to earth people who also happen to be musical geniuses.

The girl @9:42 is a favorite of mine. I too noticed her in the Wacken 2013 videos, and she is either smiling brightly or proudly singing along to the song. You can tell she is have such a great time. I would love to have Nightwish try to track her down in 2021, and do a meet & greet with her. I find myself looking forward to her crazy eyes smile during the breakdown of Romanticide!

100% agree . Floor is my choice also. I was blind and deaf for many years when Tarja left and I stopped listening to Nightwish altogether ... And one day I thought to myself: I will try to really listen to Nightwish again and Floor Jansen....and holy hell , I was in shame to myself ( that was 8 months ago). Now I am more a fan than I ever was , And happier also . For me Tuomas is the King and Floor is the Queen of Nightwish! FOR ME!!! I respect Tarja and Anette , but my love is for Floor! Nuff Said !!! I think main thing in Floor singing skills that she’s not only the singer, she’s very good musician in general. She’s not singing, she’s playing her instrument. She’s songwriter herself so she can feel the music much better then most of the professional singers could. Her dedication and enthusiasm just on the another level I feel.
Tuomas is an avid reader and a big fan of Stephen King. One of my favourite Nightwish performances - big plug for 'Seven Days to The Wolves (Live at Wembley Arena)' - was based on 'Wolves of the Calla' from 'The Dark Tower' series. Tuomas's other band, Auri - Tuomas, his wife Johanna Kurkela and Troy Donockley of Nightwish - was named after a character in the Patrick Rothfuss series, 'The Kingkiller Chronicle'. Auri is definitely worth checking out - album of the same name - because both Troy and Johanna have awesome voices, and, hey, Tuomas is a genius. One of my favourite tracks is 'Desert Flower', but they're all good. They have a new album coming out later this year and I'm looking forward to that. You could also check out Tuomas's 'Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge'. It's inspired by his favourite comic book 'The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck' and is the soundtrack to an imagined Disney movie. (Tuomas is a Disney fan.) Johanna sings on it. Try 'A Lifetime of Adventure'.

Floors voice in this songs always gets me goosebumps. That woman and her voice abilities are out of this world. And whole band in general got in turbo mode since she joined the crew. Apsolutely fantastic. Cant compare her to Anette or Tarja becuase she dose much much much more than these two ever did. Gotta love this

If you ever sit through the whole concert, there are several folks in the front you will see a lot of. That one girl you pointed out seems to sing the songs with the most gusto, and the two fellas with the inflatable guitar pop up for comic relief, and there is one girl who reminds me of an old girlfriend back when we were dating, and the Venezuelan girl, the French girls (one looks like the other's mother possibly) and all now seem like old acquaintances
Ya know besides the obvious talent here I really think the greatest part of discovering Nightwish for me was to see just how Amazingly kind the Entire Nightwish Army is, I mean how rare is it to see such an amazing group of passionate people that are just so happy to see the newbies fall in love with this band!!! Never gets old to see!!

From Nightiwsh you may like to check out "Dark Chest Of Wonder" the opener in the Wacken concert, "My Walden" from tampere 2015, which has a rather strong folk vibe for a change, "Sleeping Sun" from both the "End Of An Era" 2005 concert with Tarja Turunen, the first singer, and from the Masters of Rock 2016, with Floor. For some major crown interaction you'd love "Amaranth" from Wacken and "I Want My Tears Back" from Buenos Aires 2018 while on a heaveier side, you may like "Slaying The Dreamer" and "Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean" also from Buenos Aires 2018. For some progressive metal enjoyment you may like to check out Ayreon "The Eye Of Ra", "Merlin's Will", "Everybody Dies" and "Age of Shadows" for a start. Ayreon usually features multiple singers in a single song.
Many would say: the best singer in Nightwish........Marko. You really want to hear his pipes: The Phantom of The Opera (Nightwish-style). You can checkout Tarja's best work at the same time. It's her final show, she was fired within hours after the show.

Ryan, I discovered Nightwish after Floor joined the band. After listening to the Wacken 2013 concert about 20 times, I decided to branch out to the earlier stuff. I soon realized that if Tarja was still in the band, I would not be a Nightwish fan. There is no doubt that Tarja is a very talented singer, but her style just got boring to me song after song. And in the videos I watched, her stage presence was exactly as you said "Look at me". I never felt she connected with the music or the crowd. The albums with Annette contain some amazing songs, but they are so hard to listen to once you have heard Floor sing them. It is clear that Nightwish made a mistake and did themselves and Annette a disfavor by hiring her in the first place. Granted they wanted to go in a different direction after their breakup with Tarja, but Annette just wasn't a metal singer. Annette reminds of the local high school girl who had a good voice in the church choir, and so a local band asked her to sing in their band. She has talent, but it just doesn't fit the rocking sound of NW. Her voice comes across as weak most of the time. It also seems to me that Tuomas knew this too, as I swear that Annette's voice is always mixed to blend in. While songs with Floor & Tarja seem mixed to let the vocals stand out. When I listen and watch Nightwish with Floor, it just sounds "right" to me. Her vocal abilities and flexability allow her to tailor her singing to best benefit the song. And when I watch NightWish perform in the videos, she always seems to me to give out this "Isn't this fun, are we all having a great time" vibe. I don't get a Diva vibe. Her connection to the music and her ability to put her emotion into them, is what allows me to be grabbed emotionally by the songs. Case in point, I LOVE the song The Poet & The Pendulum; so when I listen to it with Annette, I like it. When I listen to it with Floor, I FEEL it. I'm not starstruck enough to spout that Floor is perfect, and the greatest singer of all time. But I do feel she is one of the best singers of the current time, and to me she is easily the best vocal styles for Nightwish. I really hope that NW is able to somehow able to recapture the vocals that Marco brought to their sound. A great bassist can be easily found, but replacing someone who harmonized so well with Floor and also had the power to sing lead on some tracks is not nearly as easy. I hope they can find that.
Hi Peter Bell, these are exactly my thoughts and words. Apart from my experiences, when Nightwish became known in my school days, one had to be cautious about these statements in conversations with girls ;-) , they loved Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi etc. But now they saw and heard this poor girl, later in these wonderful colored coats, alone with these "tough" metal boys. For years when trying to explain to the women in particular, what the band creates and does musically, the answer often came: "You mean the guys behind Tarja?" And if someone asked: "Do you know Nightwish, actually this wonderful singer?" "Let me guess, in song X she still sings in opera style and even if I have learned English I can barely understand a word, yes I know Tarja." Tarja has an important part in the band's history, undisputedly she can sing, but for me it was always just like you wrote it ... and starstruck in the sense, that in these times I spend a little more on CDs and merchedies to support artists, of course Floor a little more ;-). To spout that Floor is perfect, and the greatest singer of all time, something like that is indefinable and an unnecessary dispute. I don't think that would suit her either, because she just loves to sing for herself and others. When she does this, I just enjoy listening.
Hi Ryan, Thank you for this and your earlier reactions. One remark to your sound settings, the neighbours do not like me when I watch you, as I have to turn up the volume when you speak and then, when you start the clip again, it comes in really loud. Anyway this journey of you will be interesting to watch as have gone through this after I discovered Floor and Nightwish. I am a 65 year Dutchman who discovered this band and singer only in 2019. I did not know we had such top class singer who turns out to be the best selling singer outside the Netherlands. Beside that she turns out to be a very nice and down to earth person. Good luck with your discovery trip in the Nightwish story. If you would like to discover another side of floor, look at a TV show "Beste Zangers' 2019 in which I leaned to know Floor, and through her, Nightwish. It is a show with a several well known Dutch singers who are together ate Ibiza singing songs to each other. It is part of every cameraman's training to spot beautiful women in the audience and aim the camera in that direction. You see it at gigs, but also sporting events, wherever people gather. Standard procedure.
Actually often goes a little farther than that. I worked security at an arena. If the concert was being recorded (and many more shows than a band actually ends up releasing are) I saw several bands have a rep actively walking the lines waiting to get in and offering front row standing to women in general and pretty girls and women in particular. Was funny to watch sometimes because women would get suspicious and call bullshit - but the reps were pretty good at convincing them it wasn't a scam and were good about grabbing their entire group of friends and/or date too. Funniest was when a Bon Jovi rep actually grabbed one of the security staff for that reason (to his credit - she was stunning). Supervisor was amused as well and said 'yeah, go for it. We've got coverage.'

Floor is a naturally super talented singer. What I like her is her presentation on the stage. Interaction with the audience. And that is not only on the stage with the Nightwish but everywhere she is present. Beste Zangers or interviews around the world, she has a great charisma. Of course she is a person like we all are, but with a little something more we like. If you want to explore other bands, react to Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down, fitst track of the album The Source, a scifi rock opera. Composed, produced and played on guitar and keys by Arjen Lycassen. He is a genius, just like Tuomas Holopainen. His music is prog rock, and it is sooo well done, so versatile, I’m sure you will enjoy it. Arjen is the master of collaboration. And this video gives you an immediate insight in his work method. Please, you won’t be disappointed!! Another Nightwish highlight is Song Of Myself, live at Wackem (if you want to continue on this journey). Floor told us in some interview that Ever Dream is the most difficult song for her to sing as it was written with another singer in mind.
Totall agree with you about the vocalists Ryan. Tarja is and was an awesome vocalist for Nightwish, but imho, Floor has put the heart and soul into the band
Thank you for this one. Good morning from Finland. Pls listen to Phantom of the Opera with Tarja, Sleeping Sun, Nemo and If I had an Angel. They are Tarja songs. But Ghost Love Score is really something only Floor has been able to take to unimaginable heights. It was great by Tarja but now it is next level and beyond words.
@@learnerchris It is a great great version by Floor, no denying. As a Finn who spent her youth with Tarja era Nightwish, Sleeping Sun with Tarja just speaks to my soul in a way no one else can (with this particular song - like I said, Floor kicks GLS out of the park, though).
Nemo and Sleeping Sun are two songs that I actually prefer Tarja's vocals on (at least from the album recordings), but Floor has never done a bad rendition of any of the songs. She fits the band perfectly and is my favorite of the 3. I love the Wacken 2013 version of I Wish I had an Angel. I like that one better with Floor!
After Nightwish it’s hard to appreciate anything else but I’m quite sure this one will be ok: Check out ‘the day the world breaks down’ by Ayreon. Arjen Lucassen is the mastermind behind Ayreon. He writes prog rock opera’s and then invites musicians he admires from all over the world to join him. 100% sure you will love this.
Band called Wintersun is really worth of listening. Like "Time" or "Sons of Winter and Sun". I think you as a guitarist, could have interest to check them out. i say if anyone else were to try and make music that sounds like Nightwish some Finnish heavy metal with some quite elegant and layers upon layers of color and colors with sounds and accents of a symphony horns, flutes, and the pipes that Troy plays and the wizard that is Kai Hahto is his own orchestra with his effortless transitions between Emppu and Jukka the new bass player from Wintersun they all exceptional and very gifted professional musicians
You have a great voice. Have you ever tried out for voiceover work? One of the hired hands that played for Nine Inch Nails quit his job and is now the voice of Hardees. I guess he makes a killing. This is one of my favorite songs. Nemo from this show is also great, not the fish. It was their biggest commercial hit.
Yes I've always dreamed about it, actually. I have many voices and have practiced accents forever, never really showed any of it to anyone other than friends.... maybe time to figure out how to get into it?
If u havent checked them out Sabaton is definitely a band worth checking out. Most if not all of their music is about history and is really good and also informative. Learnt alot about history by listening to them. Their newer releases with animated storys is epic. If u do decide to check them out make sure its the animated story video where the story is also told and not the music video where it is not(those would be Night Witches and No bullets fly). Bismarck is usually a good place to start when checking out Sabaton aswell. Btw your talking volume might have been abit low on this one, had to crank up alot to hear u. The music was good tho soundwise, just the talking part i had a little hard time hearing.

Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. This creative original clip is 13 min. long and I think you won’t regret it !! All respect to the other singers . Taja has some awsome operatic songs and Anette has a few great more conventional somgs But Floor just kills all the songs, and both she and Nightwish have helped each other reach those straotopheris levels.

Thank you for the reaction, for a lot of people Tarja (the first singer) was and is the reason Nightwish became Nightwish. And she is still loved. Some of her versions are difficult to top by anyone, but I tend to agree with you that I prefer Floor's versions of most of the songs. Some songs are a tie and some songs themselves are such that they just fit the more operatic vocals of Tarja better. But I like the actual music the most, so it doesn't really matter if it's Tarja, Anette or Floor. Only exception is that I just don't want to listen to Anette's live vocals when there's Floors versions available, on albums Anette was also very good. Some observations and tips if you like, on technicals of your videos. - maybe use less distracting "subtitles", smaller text without transitions. Simple fade-in-out doesn't distract the viewer (or at least me), currently the spinning text just draws my attention to the spinning thing away what you are saying about the actual video. - you can record the source video and your mic to different channels with OBS, makes fixing audio levels easy in post/editing (I understand it was only this video though, maybe you already do that) - you can use keyboard to navigate the video for less distracting jumps. left/right arrow for 5s, j/l for 10s, k and space for pause
I'm with you. I just don't want to listen to many others either. You should check out Floor on Beste Zangers, anything there and her covers she has done this past winter. One other band I like is the young siblings of Liliac. (Lilly-ak) Totally different. I would suggest to first check out their earlier work such as Crazy Train cover on Santa Monica pier, Rainbow in the dark, Holy Diver, on up to the new stuff like Master of Puppets. They have their own music along the way also, Mars and Sail away. I think they will impress you in a different way. But nothing in my opinion holds a candle in this genre to Floor and Nightwish!

Ok so i listened to your album it this morning and I love it. I liked Betsey bc it gave me like a Flogging Molly vibe, and See you Tomorrow had a touch of Santana and sublime vibe, that one is my favorite. But i really liked See Me As I Am too.
That means so much, thank you! I had the intro to See You Tomorrow for about 15 years. I'd just play around with it occasionally. Then one day last year I thought "What am I thinking of when I play it?" That story/song just spilled out of me.
@@RyanMear I listened to it a couple times to figure out what the vibe of each song and I See gives me a touch of Red Hot Chili Peppers. And Cycle leaves me with a taste of Johnny Cash. It's a very eclectic album. Sorry for the comparisons but it seems like an effective way to convey what i mean.

I don't usually leave comments on youtube, but it seems we share the same faith and I just feel like offering some psychological support. You have fallen into the Floor honey pot a couple of days back, but know that you are not alone: I listened to Nightwish for a while some 15 years back in my twenties. I had been intrigued by the compositions, but I never could shake off the feeling that they're just a bit too cheesy and over the top for my taste (being a long time Metallica fan) - and then I completely lost interest when Anette came along. Haven't listened to them for a minute since. Now, couple of days back for some unbeknown reason I got on this reaction-video trip between work, kid, wife and sleep that at some point led me to Ghost Love Score from Wacken and it blew my damn head off. I had goosebumps wandering all over my body. Floor is a goddess. She can make me feel the universe, she can make me cry. It's insane. I don't entirely understand what's happening to me, but I guess I officially joined the army as well. Reporting in from Munich, Germany, awaiting orders. Btw, I'm gonna see them in Munich in December, can't wait. Shame about Marco, though. Does Floor have a brother that plays bass by any chance?

I'm exactly the same, Nightwish broke music for me. There are lots of great bands out there... but they aren't Nightwish. I also did the same reading Stephen King first :) Although Richard Laymon, James Herbert were great too... still not Stephen King.

Well Ryan, they are all extremely accomplished and professional in their own sphere, however, notwithstanding that each part of the whole band is a very big number value, we seem to have the impossible situation that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, no complaints from me. Reading the captioned lyrics I believe "away" should be "a way"; there is a big difference; and "a white night" should be "a white knight" perhaps, in English folk lore it makes more sense. How fascinating you picked that girl out who is seen in many of the Wacken videos, I have taken several captures of her and sent them to my youngest daughter (ex-bass player and roadie/minder/guitar tech for the late John Wetton) and complained jokingly that she never told me she went to Wacken 2013, such is the almost identical likeness !! Good stuff Ryan, you keep at it and congrats on now over 1K subscribers, it's deserved and I suspect will rise steadily. Thank you for the reaction.
I would like to recommend you Amorphis. Another Finnish band. Their singer Tomi has beautiful voice. Do you have ticket to Nightwish live stream concert? I do, can't wait! Finally some news from new basist. Beginning of new era.
First off congrats on 1k subs . Im suprised you were kind of let down by Floors other bands ......After Forever and Revamp are great Bands .....i hope that doesn't stop you from reacting too them . I know your in the Nightwish groove now but i would love to see you react too .... Dreamflight live at prog power by After Forever ( Floor is unfuckinbelievable ) and Disdain live at Grasspop by Revamp ( angry blonde Floor) .....congrats again
Floor is more of a Nebula, stuff of many stars. She is bigger than our solar system. No Floor NO Nightwish! Difference from before is she is unreplaceable. Marko is gone so our running game is out, Floor is our QB AND receiving core, sorry but that's how I compare stuff in life. Nightwish is everything in music for me, Go NW Army!!!
