The power of this song is just overwhelming, gives me goosebumps every time! It is epic, a masterpiece, an experience, and Floor's voice is just outstanding, we've known this from other songs, but here, it really does demonstrate her vocal range. This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). You guys know good music. You don't pause too much. You don't put your mic too high over the music. You actually react, instead of commenting. You get goosebumps at the right places. Nice reaction. You are right you are watching a spectacle. I have seen them live more than once, last time 2 weeks ago in Amsterdam and it is always awesome. In a world of pitch correction and auto tune this is a band with real musicians and a real singer. They have all put in the work and effort to be the best they can and they can do everything live. They love to perform, you can see the joy they have on stage. This was the 13th song of the set list and still perfect, like the rest of this concert. Whatever you want to check out take a live version 🤘 BTW your own comments are out of sync in the beginning of the video at about halfway you are in sync.

How can anyone not fail to be in awe of Floor's vocals- singing with such range over a metal band and yet be so in control is hugely impressive. The visual of watching you speak was behind by at least a second after hearing you speak. Just thought you might want to know so you can find why it's happening. Now that you've heard Floor Jansen, I have another female singer for you to check out: Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers! Unleash the Archers is a power metal and speed metal band from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Only last year, in 2021, they won a Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Unleash the Archers' 2020 album Abyss, which earned 2020 Metal Album of the Year. Usually, most reactors start out with the song Awakening, but I'm going to suggest either the song Fate of Man from Arjen Lucassen's album Star-One, or Unleash the Archers songs Northwest Passage, Abyss, or Time Stands Still. The other band you might like is Sabaton, which is a power metal band from Sweden that sings about military history. Given the time of year, I highly recommend Christmas Truce by Sabaton, as it is about the "Christmas Truce" of World War I in 1914. If you react to Christmas Truce, you'll get to hear Floor sing an operatic aria during the end credits, since Floor is married to Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl.

It's probably their most unique song, and it pretty much sums up their vision for symphonic metal. Little did Tuomas know that he was writing this song for Floor 8 years before she actually sung it for him/us. Joined the band in the _middle_ of this tour in 2013 and she already commanded the crowd. They all knew they hit the jackpot, including the band.

Great way of reacting! You guys contrast the girly types that say 'wow' every ten seconds and have a tendency to become so annoying. There is appreciation written all over your faces, just in the smallest changes of a beginning smile, softening of the gaze, heads moving along with the beat.
