The male singer in the end is Troy. He sang some on last record also. And often do backing vocals. But he is mainly the multi intrumentalist that you see in the backrow on the stage, playing guitar/flute or any instrument ever invented :P

Agree, it's stunning. Love the harp, or classic guitar (can't quite figure out which it is), and the use of that low key on the piano during the passing through the shipwreck. Little details like that that I've learned to listen out for in Tuomas' music.

Tuomas studied seabiology before Nightwish was founded and it inspired many of his lyrics. Another epic song from Nightwish. I wish to see this live. That would be something else. Great reaction as always Inna. Greetings from Finland.

Tuomas has announced that this album will not be toured for at least a year or two, to give the band a break as they are, in fact, getting old (agewise, not musically)

The Finnish company called "A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts Ltd. Oy" has Jukka Nevalainen (ex drummer of Nightwish) as the Chairman of the Board so I would guess it's just some company used to make music videos. Many Finnish musicians have created companies with funny names. Examples worth mentioning are "Levy-yhtiö" which has literal translation "record label" in English - founded by a punk band when they decided to create their own company, and another record label titled "Päijät-Hämeen Sorto ja Riisto" (literal translation would be "Oppression and Exploitation of Päijät-Häme" where Päijät-Häme is an area in Finland) also owned by a punk rock band.

@@SokolRock As far as I know, the Nightwish company where Jukka Nevalainen is also the charman of the board is "Oily Empire Ltd Oy". I don't know how this coconuts company is related. One thing that comes to mind is that for some reason they want to switch Nightwish from one company to another and coconuts thing is the new company.

@@MikkoRantalainen Someone in another video commented that they change the name every time the band's line-up changes, so they changed "Oily Empire" to "Coconuts" when Jukka Koskinen officially joined the band as a permanent member. I don't know if this is true or not, but since they released the live video of "The Phantom Of The Opera" from Amsterdam in January 2023, they switched to "Coconuts" and didn't use "Empire" anymore.

Before Oily Empire Ltd Oy, Nightwish had Scene Nation Ltd Oy. Jukka is listed in D&B as the CEO of all the Nightwish companies located at the same address. Yes, I think they form a new company for the band when the band membership changes, likely to make it easier to track revenue and costs and hold the copyrights for the creative output for each grouping of contibuting band members.

Thanks for the reaction! We are all the perfume of the timeless, so its not the time for a dominant voice! The mix is exact how they wanted it!! You have to feel the meaning behind the song. The singer at the end is Troy! I think the "lovely bunch of coconuts" is the team who creates this unbelievable video! Maybe the have eaten coconuts during the production of the video :P

Honestly, her voice is used like in classical productions, as a part of the orchestra, not as the front of it, especially in the chorus, where there is an actual chorus of her voice. I think it sounds much grander than many of their earlier attempts at grandeur at studio. It's very organic.

I agree with this. It also makes the music sound far far bigger too. If her vocals were louder in the chorus i think the instrumentation would lose some of it's power.

Hi Inna, greetings from UK I saw all of the reaction videos posted and there were quite a few. It could be that due to the compression on RU-vid that it's hard to hear her voice, because when I pop out my quality headphones and try a listen on spotify, all the sounds are easier to pull apart.

The official mix is *very demanding* on your audio gear. I've listened the original mix with two pretty high quality headphones and car stereo and car stereo made everything a mess and headphones did good. They probably mixed this in studio using high quality studio monitors and never gave any thought about how it sounds with lesser gear. Great song if you want quickly evaluate if a given audio system is high end or not.

@@MikkoRantalainen Oh THIS explains everything! I thought the song was shite, but nope: apparently it’s my system. I’m just a poor bum who knows nothing of high quality sound. I guess I have to sell all three of my kidneys now so I can afford the proper gear worthy of this masterpiss. Must not forget to spare some dosh for solid gold, directional audio cables and snake oil to lube the connectors with: it’s $cientifically proven to improve the sound quality by 69%. (Looking at my speakers whose frequency response has been tailored dead flat with a calibrated measurement mike.👀) Or maybe I’ve just read some audiphool excuse for why this less-than-impressive song is so poorly mixed and mastered. Thanks for the laughs man, that was entertaining.

@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I wasn't trying to defend the mix. I think mixing is always a compromise where you have to decide what to sacrifice to make it sound better for some other measurement. I think that the audio was mixed in a way that the band didn't care at all how it sounds in less-than-perfect audio systems. That only means that to hear the original intent, you should have high quality gear and if you don't like the sound even then, it's just not for you. And I definitely don't recommend anybody to pay for "high end" cables. If some cables cannot show *measurable* difference, the only effect is psychological. And for psychological effects, paid therapy is much more effective than paying extra for copper cables. And if you're about to purchase new speakers, monitors or headphones, look at group delay measurements. In my experiece, frequency response is easy to get straight with on-site DSP so it makes sense to focus on group delay issues which are much harder to workaround after the fact.

Floors voice was mixed like that on purpose in contrast to the choir background track.. also most music videos have a slightly different track (mixed differently and including sound effects) - if you listen to the Spotify track you'll hear her voice much clearer!

It is about time Tuomas demotes Floor from what is generally perceived as "Floor Jansen and her band" to just another instrument among other instruments, making the whole. This is a brave move that will cost Nightwish a lot of old fans: No more basic heavy metal but a beautifully orchestrated composition. I cannot wait for the orchestral version (presumably 100% instrumental - as was the 2nd CD of the Human. :||: Nature album) and the Surround mix.

In April 2023, the band announced that it will stop touring after June for an unspecified period of time. The band retired to make the next album. The album will be released this year, but the band does not plan to go on gigs again after the release. The band says that the break is important. Financially, there is nothing to worry about. A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts Ltd Oy, jointly owned by the members.

I imagine that once Tuomas and the sound production guys hear that part where you really can't hear Floor singing, will redo that part of the video. I will say this, it's one of best music videos I've seen! I love how Troy finished the ending of the song!

I disagree. Tuomas is a perfectionist and I expect he listened to the mix a thousand times to get just the sound he was looking for. I was also puzzled, disappointed even, on the first few listens. But after a while I think I understood the artistry at play. And now I hear Floor perfectly in the chorus.

With Marco gone Troy has been singing in addition to Floor. Jukka also used to sing with Wintersun (background vocals only) so I would have expected to hear some singing by him, too, but I couldn't hear anything.

I agree, the mix left the Floor's voice channel too low in the choir and instruments. It's really difficult to understand the words she's singing during the chorus, but Tuomas, as a music master, compensate that repeating the chorus in the end with the peaceful Troy's voice and just the sound of an harp.

This song has very demanding mix for the audio system you're using to listen it. If you listen this with low quality gear, you cannot hear Floor at all in heavier parts because the speakers blur the sound because it gets so complex with stuff on nearly all frequencies. Nightwish Arena already did a less demanding re-mix which might be a good option if the original version doesn't sound good with the audio gear you have.

Agreed. Floor’s voice is lost amid everything else. IMO, poor mixing. I’m meh on this. I hope the other songs on the album are better.

Every reaction video I see it's clear that the good video is masking the weak song. A lot has been said about it, but the vocal mix is really terrible. "That's the way it should be," say a number of people, well if that's the way it should be you are no good as a producer. This way you seriously disappoint a strong vocalist like Floor Jansen. Then the song itself, Nightwish ripples on on the old, existing same thing as if there is no more inspiration. This song is a kind of compilation with all kinds of things that have already been done.

To be honest I didn't like the last album. I felt it was the weakest Nightwish album by far. I also feel Marko is sorely missed. But if this is any indication of how the new album is going to be, I must admit i'm very happy Nightwish seemed to find their sound again.
