Elize Ryd and Alissa White Gluz were also Nightwish vocalists, at least for one crazy night in Denver. Right before Floor's 48 hr rush to join Nightwish. Floor was brought in October 2012 and Wacken was in August 2013. "Please, learn the set list in 48 hours" is the title of the DVD documenting the 2012-2013 tour, during which Floor replaced Anette Olzon. At the time of the gig, Floor was officially a session singer but both Floor and Troy were asked to join NIghtwish some weeks before. However, quite a lot of people were pretty sure of Floor's permanent position, as there are not many bands shooting a live DVD with a session lead vocalist.

@@Anthony_Corso The version from Wembley with Richard Dawkins is much better. The one from Tampere has fireworks but musically and visually the former is superior (my two cents).
@@alfonsorivasvalles2204 I like the Tampere version a lot more. The pipes give it a special vibe which fit the song better than the e-bow IMO. I also like the visuals more because you can actually see the band members. Wembley is really dark lighting.
@@DeepeningTheListening Both versions are really amazing, but I think I prefer Wembely for first-time reactors. And that's mainly because the visuals on the screens behind them are much more visible. And they add a lot to the overall atmosphere. So, it's because of the recording, not the performance. If the camera on Tampere was more focused on the stage, that one would probably be my favorite, mainly because of Troy.

That was interesting. I always want to hear commentary on the unusual rhythmic changes in this (and other) Nightwish songs, but here aren't many reactors who comment on it. Emppu only shreds when it suits the song so you won't hear it that often. He is one of the guitar GOATs but underappreciated. And all on a guitar with no tone controls, decades old, battered and split... Better than Wacken 2013 is Buenos Aires 2018. Here's a little Emppu comment: "The solo in "Shudder" [before the Beautiful] was a nice surprise and something I had great fun doing in the studio. It's also fun live. I'm always ecxcited about parts where there's room for improvisation - "Stargazers" for example, is a great live song that enables you to really shred." And from Floor, asked who is her guitar hero: "I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful."

Really well made video. Cool to hear how much this youtube endeavour, and especially Nightwish reaction, eventually led you to find so many great things. Since you got so excited about the proggy parts in this song I thought I'd shout out band called Symphony X if you haven't listened to them yet. Their catalogue is a mix of progressive, symphonic, neo-classical and power metal. All the members are fantastic musicians and write great songs, quite a few are longer prog epics, the longest being "The Odyssey" and "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" but they have a lot of shorter bangers as well.
Yep, it was your first Nightwish reaction that brought me to the SC channel. I'm glad you're revisiting these songs with fresh eyes and discussing them from a more technical perspective.

Thanks for sharing your solo reaction to a song that explores themes of disillusionment, heartbreak, and the destructive nature of love - "romanticide" = suicide by/of romance. The lyrics depict a sense of emotional detachment and a feeling of being misunderstood by others.
Fun to revisit the song that made me find your SC reactions. It's a bit surprising to hear that you didn't have much aspirations on singing given that I picked up Duality when it came out, thanks to the channel, and your high notes on Voices Unheard (which I did catch in this video) surprised me back then. I was really positively surprised by the whole band for that matter. As for Romanticide, it does stick out among Nightwish songs but it's not the only really hard song. For example, you did Yours is an Empty Hope before (I recommend the Wembley show if you revisit that at some point) which is a bit heavier and groovier than Romanticide, and there's Master Passion Greed which is a really hard song, but they never played it live due to the topic of the song.
Can't wait for a little more in depth look into Ghost Love Score. And, I still think you guys missed out... on one of your channels you need to react to Dead Boy's Poem from NW. Live in Buenos Aires is the recommended version. Easily my fav NW song. Tuomas has stated it is his most personal song, and Floor and the gang knock it out of the park live. Lots to talk about on that one musically, lyrically... spiritually...
You’re right about Emppu though! Every time I see him play, I wonder what would happen if he just let loose, because he plays what is required and no more and it’s a little frustrating!

Floor was performing with Nightwish first time in Seattle. Isn’t that your city? She was called to replace Anette, during their Imaginerum world tour in October 2012. Wacken was 9 months later.
This was on the same tour as "please learn the set list in 48 hours" but months later. I believe this was the first gig after Floor and Troy were given permanent position in the band. I think it might have given Floor (and maybe the whole band) extra boost to really make this gig legendary. It's totally insane that even a decade later, every song that was performed in Wacken 2013 show is still the best performance of that song ever, including the album version.

There are some pretty heavy songs like Planet Hell, Slaying the Dreamer and Kinslayer. I think you need to do this whole show piece by piece. Just look for correct speed version. And after that, maybe try their first DVD, "From Wishes to Eternity".
Good idea to revisit Nightwish. It could be good for your channel and maybe for yourself as a signer and player. You remember that this specific concert was special, and it is. So here are some points about it. - You are right, this show is related to Floor learning the setlist in 48 hours, but not this show, but this tour. Many months separate this show from her first one. - At the time of this concert, the band knew for a while that Floor has everything they were searching for their new vocalist. I short, it was not official, but she was already the new voice of Nightwish. So, it was knowing that they planned this concert. They decided to put the maximum of quality expecting to have, for every song, a new "official live video", and it is exactly what happened. So this is why, if you search for a live performance from Nightwish, you ends on the songs extracted from this concert. - Fun fact : the time traveler. There is a guy that look somewhere else. Everyone except him are enjoying the show, but he is there standing with his hat, just in a fix position. So came the idea that it may be a visitor from the future that visit the most outstanding performances ever. If you have difficulties to find him, revisit Storytime, after the second verse, there is a breakdown.. then be aware to look for the time traveler guy! - And if you want another perspective about this show, you may choose to experience Ghost Love Score differently. Of course you can choose the original song from this concert, but you can look at the.. reaction by Floor herself to it. This could be interesting for a signer like you. She focus on her signing, bypassing part of the song without her singing, and give good info about this concert, her challenges, about this song and many more interesting stuff. As expected any Nightwish video summons the army haha. Since you really seemed to like Romanticide if you haven't checked out their Century Child album it has more songs in a similar vein to this one. Not even for reaction content neccessarily, just figured you might like it. But I like this idea of revisiting songs! You gave us a lot more analyzing this time around and for some songs it's hard to catch everything on a first listen.
In terms of prog recommendations I would like see you react to more Avantasia and Ayreon. OBviously it doesn't matter which one you pick. Maybe some other comments will give you more specific advice.
Emppu Vuorinen is pretty easy to pronounce if you can do rolling R. The last name has only 3 syllables: vuo-ri-nen and only the first syllable has a diphthong.

She is the absolute double of my youngest (left handed bassist) daughter when she was that age.
