I've heard this song at least 30 times today and I absolute love it - so many "so called" fan's comments, on these new songs, have been totally repulsive so far - what people fail to realize is that no one in this band is in their early 20's anymore and what Tuomas created back then is different than what he is writes today - listen to it a few more times and let it grow on you and, if it can't do that, go out and buy a brand new copy of "Once" and pretend that it is brand new and hopefully you will get that good feeling back again
I see that in a lot of fanbases, including of artists that i have been a fan of my whole life. Sometimes i wonder if its just the feeling people got back then while listening to music when they were younger and if it has much to do with the artist themselves (if anything). Add some nostalgia to that mix and here we are 😃 I like the song a lot!
It’s my first time I heard this new song. Instantly I love it. ❤ 🎉 For me it’s a journey back in time… musical. on the other hand, it’s a little bit like the next step to the last one (Perfume of the timeless)… The lyrics I have to take a look into the written… it’s way too fast for me now…
Saeed, you are becomming one of my favorite reactors on YT. Especially with Nightwish songs that require a lot of intellect and knowledge to really understand. I've seen many reactors miss so much of the lyrics and basic meanings of songs, and then we have you, pointing out the referred books in your bookshelf! :D And instantly getting to the point of the songs, all the while appreciating the music, also, and bringing your own thoughts and views to the table. Love your insights! I think this album is going to be tough for fans of older Nightwish. As a newer fan I actually like how Nightwish has changed and matured as musicians and storytellers. I discovered Nightwish just before Human Nature came out and it is my favorite album. EFMB , Human Nature and the two singles already released aren't songs about simple idea's but instead Tuomas is writing about deep and interesting topics in a way that forces you to think. Both Perfume of the Times and Day Of didn't hit me hard at first but as I keep listening they keep reveling more and more interesting things musically. Also the lyrics require you to sit with them for awhile and unpack everything Tuomas is saying. This is not music to have playing in the background while making dinner but music to be savored like a fine wine or really good whiskey. It takes time to discover the nuances and extract all the pleasure of the creation.

I also like the older Nightwish songs but my favourite albums start with EFMB. I like challenging music and especially lyrics; when I listen to music I do nothing else but only listen. I hope Nightwish will continue this way of composing and writing lyrics.
Indeed, good news is no news. On the radio in the Netherlands we had an hourly news bulletin, called the news of progress. It only contained good news. It was delicious to listen to. And this song is good news too. Another banger from Nightwish...I want more!!!!
This song was inspired by George Orwell's book 1984, there are a lot of references to it in the lyrics. The letters on the artwork are the songs lyrics, you need to read from top right, like japaneese texts ;)
The song is amazing! The composing, the lyrics and the instruments are from another world! And Floor's voice is simply mesmerizing. Her voice is dancing like a ballett dancer over the melody. Absolutly mindblowing.
Heard it 10 times today and am blown away again by our composers and poets top notch work. Also musically and Floor.... the evolution of the band might not be for each usual nightwish fan, but for me it is another masterful artwork. Die "Fans" wollen mit jeder neuen Scheibe wieder das alte Gefühl ihrer Jugend wieder aufleben lassen. Aber weder Sie noch die Band sind noch dieselben wie vor nun fast 30 Jahren. Die einzelnen Personen haben sich weiterentwickelt, die unerfreulichen Abschiede der ersten zwei Sängerinnen haben bei Thuomas und Emppu sicher auch Spuren hinterlassen und dazu kommt das es nicht mehr dieselbe Band ist wie zu Tarjas Zeiten, Marko weg, Jukka weg, Tarja weg, Anette weg. Dafür mit Kai, Floor und Troy drei neue Mitglieder die sich aktiv in die Entstehung der Songs einbringen und das war früher eben nicht der Fall. Weder Tarja noch Anette haben sich wesentlich eingebracht und Troy war noch nicht dabei.Nun hat Thuomas mit Floor nicht nur neue Möglichkeiten was den Gesang angeht, es gibt praktisch keine Grenzen mehr, Troy kann mit seinem Folkhintergrund Akzente setzen die man vorher nicht hatte usw. Diese Änderungen in der Bandstruktur waren wohl auch mit ein Grund warum Marko ausgestiegen ist, neben seinen Depressionen, so zumindest Andeutungen vom Ihm. Wie auch immer, selbst AC/DC hört sich nicht mehr an wie in den 70ern. Man muss das Album ja nicht kaufen wenn es Einem nicht gefällt. Aber das Kommende von Nightwish ist sicher Vieles, aber nicht eingängiges 08/15 Material, da muss man mehrere Durchläufe machen um die Feinheiten zu erkennen. Aber der Anspruch der Band und vor Allem Thuoma ist eben kein eingängiges Material sondern eher die Liga der alten klassischen Meister. Deren Werke bekamen aber auch oft erst postum die Anerkennung für die sie heute bekannt sind

A new NW sound, it is NW sounding, but also in a very diffrent way, with the children choir being present a lot to, now i listened to the song quite a few times, maybe 30 times, it did take me a few listens to get it in, with the children, and Floors fast words, but now i actually think its a pretty nice one, diffrent, but good!!

Wow, your analysis of the lyrics is really great! I had to read them several times to find "my" meaning of them. In my circle of friends there also is a woman who from time to time announces "the end of the world" and that "only those will survive who believe in...". Until now nothing of it happened. Really great song, a new masterpiece of Tuomas. I am so much looking forward to the new album.
A new way ro go for Nightwish, with the children choir, having as much singing time as Floor i belive, Floor is doing some fast phrasing here to, the Ill starred kids off your junkyard?? im not sure totaly what to make of that, but surely this song is about them mainly, the world going towards a armagedon, with AI and war, and these kids play a big role right, surely a song where this mesage is the main. I didnt read the book 1984 written by George Orwell, but the song got reference to that book i belive. At first listen i needed another listen, at 3th listen the song got me, and i started like the children choir, i actually think its a pretty good song i think, and something not heard like this from NW before, nowe i listened to the song maybe 30 times!!
The song is very good, but I can't shake the thought that it's very similar as a feeling to Kamelot's "Burns to Embrace " from their 2018th album. I think that we can listen to both songs as before and after. "The Day Of.. " as before.
greetings and love from Cologne, Germany again...great reaction like always, buddy...i used to dream of jumping into a book too...since i saw one of the best german movies for the first time... namely "The Neverending Story" in 1984. In 1986 that dream came true, kinda. In my last school year, we went on a 1-week graduation class trip to Munich. Among other things, we visited the Bavaria Film Studios, where some film props (from movies like "Neverending Story & "Das Boot") could be admired. I was allowed to sit on the movie dragon "Fuchur", which was in front of a blue screen, and fly through the mythical land of Fantasia... That was an experience, I can tell you.......stay safe, mein Freund
Feeling this one even less than The Perfume Of The Timeless tbh. It's just not for me, but with a discography like Nightwish that totally fine. So much music to choose from!
In order to be real news it has to be truth without spin. No live performances until probably 2026. maybe a 30th anniversary tour with a full orchestra? More children's choirs on this record.
This is great song. Already played this on repeat for few hours :). I liked Perfume as well, but the mix was bit offputting in the music video and it did not grip me as well as this one.
@@koorssgamer taking a break , that's all ...they just did a 2 yr tour ....they'll be back out in 2/3 yrs but now Tuomas is saying he doesn't know how long itll be , so who knows now but they'll be back on the Road eventually
They did say they were not going to tour for this album - taking a break from the road for family etc. Everyone said Shoemaker was not going to be possible live either. This song is quite doable live even with all the layers.
I agree the end is near. This is mediocre at best. It’s an extension of the awful Human Nature album which in my opinion is the worst Nightwish album ever. Tuomas is writing subpar songs and it’s bringing his band down. Could it be from losing the irreplaceable Marko Hietala? I don’t know but a song like this is album filler and that was never on a Nightwish album. I want the Endless Forms Most Beautiful Nightwish back and it looks like I’ll never get that again.
I don't feel that way, honestly this song has one of the most epic instrumental bridges I've ever heard. The bohemian rhapsody vibes this song has ain't for everyone, but that doesn't mean its bad
@@SaeedReacts. Lol I will say, I really liked your input when pausing! I think the big annoyance people get out of it is when the needed pauses happen but nothing really gets said. But I liked that you had the lyrics in front of you and were commenting on that aspect (even bringing out the books!). I too have read 1984 recently and got hit by the "never-ending doom porn" line. It's a fine line between being aware of what's causing societal decay, and still living your life.
