To be fair, Tarja has done a pretty good job of that in thee past as well, and so did Annette when she performed the studio version of the song I think this is my favourite Nightwish song of them all, which says a lot because I love a LOT of their songs. In fact this may well be my favourite song, period. One of only maybe 3-5 songs I can think of that I cannot listen too without getting emotional, which is a testament to the writing and production.
Look, I'm an old metal head. OLD! I just have heard of Nightwish in the last year or so. It is appalling that America never gave them a chance commercially. A fucking shame! Also, I have been dreading this song for you. I know there are deep wounds that you have, I have a son around your age and I can see your pain. I hope and pray you , hell, we all come to terms with our wounds and pains. Nightwish is such a powerful outlet for pain and joy. Hugs and love to you, you deserve them both!
Reading this just brought me tears.... and I am not even the reactor! So thankful that there are still people like you around. Greetings from Greece and a 43 year old metal head who also started listening to NW last year!
I’ve been a fan of Nightwish for over 20 years! Discovered Nightwish by a huge Rock/ Metal head fan from Finland who immigranted to the USA we worked together became friends and he loved America rock/ Metal culture. I introduced him & his wife to many bands from America & he would show me bands that he loved from Europe. Nightwish blew me away! I’ve never understood why they are not popular in the USA , I can only surmise that it’s the music machine in the USA that wants to keep them out! Because I’ve promoted the band just by word of mouth for over 20 years and now with Reactions channels over the last few years maybe just maybe Nightwish will finally receive the musical credit they so richly deserved! Rock On Stay Safe!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I hope so because it just makes me sick to se how they have been overlooked. I don't hold out much hope though. US promoters don't like bands that don't fall into the cookie cutter mold. We all know Nightwish could be called anything but that.
You are so right. More people need to see this and then make their opinions. Even in Europe. To many people are missing out because they never heard of Nightwish. I blame the media!!!!!
@@Songfugel And by "here" you mean Finland? Wauw, I did not think it was possible for Nightwish to be too mainstream. In the Netherlands, people are getting to know them.
@@henkraadmaar4072 Yes, you can see it from the profile if it wasn't blatantly obvious from my insane last name Nightwish has been Finland's biggest band since way before Tarja was let go (that is why it was such a shock to everyone), and since metal is mainstream here, it isn't that strange
thank god i stumbled onto floor singing at beste zingers last year.saw her singing shallow and heard she was in a metal band not my favorite but something told me to watch gls and reluctantly i did. one of the best decisions i ever made. best group ever hands down
This is the kind of show that after you experienced it, it changes you forever. It changes your world and how you see it and yourself. I was in a pretty dark place last year, suffered a burn out and fell into a depression because if how broken my brain was. This song helped me put words to what I was feeling, it helped me through the dark times, and I will always be forever grateful to Tuomas for baring his own heart like this.
I found this band 2 months ago and one of my first thoughts was how have I not known about this? Truly a crime they are not more popular in the US. The best band on earth, hands down. Floor has more talent in one hair follicle than any of these so-called superstar pop divas that pass for talent in this fucked up country.
Thankfully Tuomas did not succumb to his deep depression, and what balls to make a song about his feelings. Imagine a world with no Nightwish, it all starts in that brilliant poet mind of his, and that is not a world I would enjoy as much. He is Maestro to the greatest band I have ever heard. Wonderful reaction man, I feel it, every time I watch it. NW Army USA checking in, and we starting a tidal wave in America with this band, and nobody should go through life without knowing about them.
Thank you for the reaction to this very emotional song :) Also glad to hear you listened/watched/reacted to the Tampere version of the Greatest Show on Earth as well, I personally like that show a lot more due to better (more balanced) vocal mix, the banging intro and the whole end bit which feel much more warm and "Nightwishy" for me personally
@@WDC_wolf yes, i agree. But in this Song, it is both. You know, why Floor is so emotional in this. She has a Depression 2011/2012 too. She knows what she sings. And Marko and Emppu, they remember the time after "the open letter", after they fired Tarja.
@@ralfmeyer9086 Floor had a Burn Out, which is different from a Depression, even though there are similarities in symptoms. Her ability to sing and express passion and emotions are according to herself, that she is a highly sensitive person, which many of the greatest artist all over the world also are. I think this is also the reason that she "recharges" alone in the nature. Her performance in this one is a masterpiece - just like several others and especially "Procession" from Human Nature - Floor is unique - and so is Tuomas in his writing and composing.
Nice reaction. Glad to be in the rabbit hole with you. It is a sin that Nightwish is such an unknown commodity in the US. They are gods in the reaction community though. Keep on Nightwishing on. 🤘😜🤘
hey man, i really like your reactions too Nightwish. i have seen this performance maybe hundreds of times but still it tears me up and im pretty sure the goosebumbs stay in my face too. i have to admit that i love too see someone new discover my favorite band.
Usually when I walk to work and this song comes, I skip it.. Because always it brings tears to my eyes when it gets to the last part. For me it's a very powerful, beautiful and personal song. Glad that you did it and that you found the power to finish it without breaking down. Great reaction, I can't wait for "the greatest show on earth". Stay safe 🤘😁🤘
Bro you are not alone in the tears all we feel and cry every time THAT'S WHY WE LOVE THIS BAND THAT'S WHY ALWAYS BE NIGHTWISH ARMY 🤘great one bro cheers from COSTA RICA hope to see you SOON in this your country BLESS
It hits us all - hard - but, as you say - everybody should hear, feel and experience Nightwish's masterpieces. No wonder that Tuomas and Floor said they were proud of how this song came out live. And as we all agree on - nobody else could perform a song like this. Great reaction from you 👍 🤘 🤘
If anyone ever had any doubt about Floor's ability to convey emotion that tugs at our heartstrings, this song should remove those doubts. Wonderful honest reaction. This song kicks me in the feels no matter how many times I have heard it. I think about my own breakups with two women that I loved in my life. I was almost where Tuomas was when he wrote this song.
Takes a lot to reveal your innermost feelings, agony. But that is what some artists do. Tuomas puts so much of himself into his art, music and lyrics. He just has the need to turn stories and feelings into music. We are lucky to hear and see the results - and enjoy. And we can learn something about our selves, maybe go through something we did not before, but should have, hidden feelings, and hopefully become better people, at least a tiny bit. Tuomas many times doesn't want to hear parts of the lyrics and wants his in-ear monitor turned off. Such a great piece of art performed to perfection. Lately when listening to reactions to this performance I have particularly noticed and paid attention to Tuomas' last piano part with it's subtle changes - beautiful. So many other highlights in this performance, but I'm not going to mention but one. Tuomas singing along!!! Of course you can not hear it but amazing singing anyway! Best vocals ever by him. He used to sing in the early days of Nightwish, but later said never again. When he was young he also played clarinet and saxophone. I think he played clarinet in an army band during his obligatory service. There is a 2 minute clip of Tuomas playing a big pipe organ in Helsinki Music House, or Hall, I do not know the English name for it. He was so happy to get the chance. "Tuomas Holopainen kirkkourut". Kirkkourut = church organ = pipe organ. His mothers father was a priest. Many more priests before him in the family tree. Tuomas grandpa had 7 daughters, but no son. The end of a long unbroken line of priests in the family. I agree, everyone all over the world should know Nightwish!
Dude I’m on the same Nightwish trip like you did.... What a band.... religion.... army.... with a queen who rules it all...... Ooohjaa..... I like the way you say things honest..... Rock on dude
If I said it before, I am going to say it again and maybe expand. Thank YOU for just being you, I could also see this hit you hard (I am sorry). Thank you for sharing that with us, raw emotion, pain, memories etc. (I don’t know your life story, I don’t have to). Just Thank you for being genuine. 💙🤟🏻
Excellent reaction, I could tell it got to you. This song and Dead Boys Poem never fail to hit me in the feels. Actually took a while before I was able to listen to them each all the way through
Greetings from Germany...i'm watching your reaction right now..and, dude...i nearly felt from my chair...that heavy was my laugh 🤣🤣 as you just realy said " that Show is better than 'f..king Cirque Du Soleil'....funny...and true 🤣🤣💚🐾💚
To hear this beautiful song sung by the great and beautiful Floor, you have to be really ready for it as it is very emotional. The part where Floor being the mother sings to her son that she loves him, really gets to me as my beloved mother past away in 2017 and I still miss her so much. British Sabaton fan 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇸🇪🇸🇪🇳🇱🇳🇱🇫🇮🇫🇮
I wonder, how many people worldwide now know about nightwish, it is growing and growing. Thank you for your reaction and you to are spreading their music by reacting to nightwish, i think everybody is not only a fan, nightwish is a passion and they deserve it with their amazing music and performances. Emotions, emotions ......😊
The music definitely moved you and, yes, more people need to experience this. If you immerse yourself a little deeper into the backstory, the emotions are even stronger and the impact of the storytelling stupefying.
react to Tarja's song "Diva" which I believe is her answer to this song. Neither side was blameless but I believe everything happens for a reason. Tarja has a wonderful solo career and Nightwish has Floor :) and we fans have it all to enjoy
I absolutely agree with you that more people should be made aware that this exists and Nightwish makes these masterpieces! They hit you right in the soul.
:) Thank you for the excellent reaction. Nightwish is so incredible, and I love to watch sincere reactions because this is the kind of music that moves a person. I look forward to the continuing Nightwish. They have so much to offer. Once again, thanks man
This video of "the poet" should have a warning sign that says "caution: This may cause extreme amounts of emotion as well as excessive headbanging. Listen at own risk."
Very, very emoțional all time i watch this. 😥 To understand all background you have to look at the history of departing Tarja. Great reaction. ROCK ON! 🤘🇷🇴
I've said it before: The degree of depth, feel, compositional breadth and creativity, execution cohesiveness, musicianship and artistic expression in Nightwish's art form (notice I did not use the word songs as it fails miserably to convey any meaning) is staggering. Every lyric, cord and key shift is meticulously planned and executed and supported by meaningful and worth-exploring lyrics. Nothing is done in vain. Everything has its place in the whole structure. Every single one of them is a world-class musician/vocalist but they all check their egos at the door and solely serve the music and its needs. We, the lucky ones who discovered them early on in the 90s, have been spoiled rotten to the point that it is almost impossible to listen to any other music without making the comparison and realizing that the pastures are always more lush and greener in Nightwish musical land.
Out of so much pain...such exquisite beauty! So many of NW's songs evoke the emotions that I could never give voice to. As a child, and eventually as an 'adult', I never saw or had modeled for me ways to express my emotions. I became completely 'walled off'. I still struggle to tap in to how I 'feel', about anything. But the music, and Floor's gift, unlock that wellspring of pent up expression. It all comes out as tears. 60 years later I'm still learning to 'feel'...and it's going to take a long time to develop that "emotional IQ"... it's a lot harder than algebra. Thanks
Again, so happy to hear what you think and feel. The most present reactor there is! Best thing a reactor can do is to forget about us during the recording. We will be there when you come back to reality again. Better than Circ de Solei...YES!
Anyone without wet eyes after this one needs to get their feels checked. I love how Nightwish can make you feel so much with the music... sometimes I don't even know why I'm misting up. It's so beautiful and perfect I don't know how I didn't know about them before last year. Liking the channel brother... keep it up 🤘😎
Just found this reaction video tonight - awesome to find someone who appreciates these songs and who feels them as much as I'm sure a lot of us do. Tuomas is really a genius in terms of composing and writing, and singers like Anette and Floor are fantastic at delivering those lyrics in a manner that makes us all cry (I'm a Russian man - although that should not warrant a mention cos we all have to express our emotions - and I cried when listening to this) Thank you for making this, subscribed for the future
Seen/heard this song maybe 50 times now I always feel emotional and tear up every time This composition is every bit a masterpiece as any written by the classical composers. Although he says he has moved on from his heartache and depression, Tuomas said they probably will never perform this song live again, it takes so much out of him.
With all that goes on in life, we tend to put up barriers for protection. Then, we experience a performance such as this and it reminds us that we still have a heart.
Yeah this song, in particular this very performance strucks me every time i watch it. It's awesome to 'share' this with you, thanks for reacting this jewel💞
I love this song because it reminds me of how far I've come in my battles with depression. The different parts of the song mirror the various things you can go through. The racing thoughts and the paranoia are there in the music itself as much as in the lyrics. The last words are "In the beginning" and gives hope for a better future. As a poster at one of the concerts said "Thank you Tuomas for the emotions".
