Thank you for your respect! Here in America the youth(others as well) sometimes do not show nor appreciate the sacrifices of those before them. Like you I will always be humbled by their service and sacrifices! God bless them evermore☝️☝️☝️

The attack across the river is in so many movies, but it was great to see the actual site that it took place at. I know what you mean about the cemetery leaving you feeling empty, we have the American cemetery 8th AF & USN near where i live in Cambridge UK its always a very solemn & sobering visit.

Yeah. The crossing was also pretty long. Just imagine that 600 germans are firing upon you while you are crossing in a little boat. And everytime i visit a Cemetery its gives me that feeling of emptyness...

A slight correction: The 82nd crossed the river and attacked the north end of the bridge while at the same time the tanks of XXX corps attacked and crossed the bridge from the south. The 82nd and XXX corps actually met on the north end of the bridge. So it was a simultaneous attack from two sides. Of course the 82nd deserves all the credit for their daring crossing of the river, but XXX corps also deserves the credit for taking the bridge. In the crossing 48 men of the 504th PIR died and are commemorated by 48 lights on the bridge which stands at the sight of the crossing.

Aahh thanks man! Now you teached me something about it! I did a little research on this video, but most of the stuff i said was from my mind. Maybe in the future i will do a more detailed video about the crossing. Because it was a very important part of the operation. Thanks for youre feedback! Really appreciate it! 🙏

@@SandervkHistory no problem man. I'm an avid student of ww2 and I lived in Nijmegen for a number of years, so I know a bit about the story of the crossing. What's also cool about that new bridge is that it's actually called "de oversteek" (the crossing) in honour of the 82nd's crossing. Like I said, there are 48 light posts on the bridge commemorating the 48 fallen men of the 82nd. Every evening a veteran walks the entire length of the bridge and the 48 lights turn on in sequence in honour of the sacrifice that was made there. It's called the sunset march. If you need some ideas for future videos I'd suggest you visit Ginkel Heath and Renkum heath. Those were the British DZ's and there are some interesting stories to be told there.

@@A.J.K87 I will put those places on my list! Will definitly visit those Dz in the future! And thats a amazing story about the veteran! Ive heard something about it, but not in this detail! Thank you for sharing! 🙏

Keep it up dude! The Nijmegen battle is one of my favorite battles. Both of the attacks of the 505th on the southern end and the crossing of the 504th!
