One week after Live Aid and with the release of Don Quixote, Nik talks to Mark Curry on Saturday Live. He talks about his rise to fame, filming the video, and the writing of the new single. As ever, wearing a patterned shirt and sporting the 'big' hair style that was fashionable at the time. I can remember being disappointed about not getting to see the video yet. It was aired possibly a week later when I was on holiday in a cottage in Scotland (with my Mum, Dad and Brother) so I couldn't tape it.

He was so cute & adorable back then i just want to hug & squeeze him like a teddy.🤗🧸😘 He was the heartthrob😍 idol of the 80's pop/new wave movement...like the Harry Styles of that era...but Nik's music was way better bcos he wrote them all himself. And not to mention he is a fantastic musician to boot. Oh Nik you pull my heartstrings❤️🎸. 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 #bestillmyheart 💓💓💓

It was special time... a very special time. I was a kid, but everything still amazing to listen and watch. Thank signor Kershaw for the fantastic sound you gave to all the world.

wanted that hairstyle as a kid.. still kinda want to. in Nik's case, don't do the mullet if it's gonna be 30% of your total body length

Good to see this again. What a hairdo. Back in '85 as a 15 year old, the number of times I tried to style my hair to this and failed miserably....and am I ashamed to admit that? .....I bloody should be but HELL no. Cheers Cathy.

now I know it wasn't easy to do that kind of spiky mullet..lots of mantainence involved..but his mullet rocks!..especially the wide boy cover art

This was exactly one week after Live Aid...how did the interviewer BARELY mention it?!?! Also, its funny that Nik mentions his big break was when he got management. That's ironic, because they were never able to break him into the US...and he should have been huge here! Also, I'm not sure why Prince's Raspberry Beret is playing in the background at 7:01 🤣

Wow how 80s and overblown is the hair. This takes me back to my childhood. Mark Curry on CBBC...Nik was so cute in a squeeze-his-cheeks way as a young man. Could distract from his pop ingenuity.

And that was his last top ten hit. I guess that's what happens when you write your own songs as you can dry up. I recall that happening a lot in the 80's artists that were incredibly successful one year and gone the next. These days you have whole teams of writers to keep the hits coming and ultimately the millions of pounds. But, the talent goes out the window. Cheers people

I do hear time to time I remember when I was around 7 8 I heard a song ( the riddle ) I didn’t know it’s him then I just remember I like that song sooooo much like I knew it before and after long years o find it again since then. I love him
