This is my first Nike model 😮 ever for lite workouts, I'm a Adidas guy all these days now bought additional Metcon 9 as well, throughly enjoying it. Kudos❤🎉

After a year break due to a work accident that required to undergo a rotator cuff surgery followed by 6 months functional rehab, I've literally inflated and I've taken 20 kilos 😕. Back to HIIT training with cardio and plyo I needed a really padded and bouncy shoe to avoid early fatigue and those TR1 are exactly what I was searching for: a big and bouncy midsole + heel and achilles tendon well protected. I was upset by the Nike's tendency to fit a bit narrow, but that's not the case here, even with my flat and large feet it feels comfy, I higly recommend those shoes to overweight people coming back to training or total beginners. Those are now my 90 to 80 kilos shoes, then i'll use the Nanos to get down to 70, and after that more "barefoot" kind of ones with the Metcon turbos when I'll get stronger knees and ankles.

I did a bad thing. I bought these before you reviewed them and I usually wait until after your reviews. I do hope I like them! Great video as always Jake!

I used them today for leg day and when I was doing my squats I had a sturdy platform to drive off from. The zoom air bag wasn't squishy at all. I haven't run in them yet so that's on my agenda for tomorrow's workout.@@thatfitfriend

@@RuggerD123 how heavy were your squats?
@RuggerD123
@RuggerD123 10 месяцев назад
I am ashamed to admit, the most I did today was 305lbs. I usually do about 430lbs, but I haven't been able to do leg day consistently. I didn't feel any compression, and my heels were locked in. @@thatfitfriend

Nice first impression. I was very curious how the full length air zoom strobel would translate to lifting. Kinda feels this model is somewhere between the Metcons and the Free Metcons and is aimed for the casual lifters that needs stability but doesn't want to lose that comfy feel of an all day shoe.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, I feel that. Just wish Nike would language that better on their site. If I was new to training shoes I would be so confused about which model to go with, tbh!

I just got these and the dropset trainers 2. I wore the Nikes today for the 1st time during a workout, they felt ok so far but I think I like the dropset 2 a little better, time will tell. I also have a pair of the free metcon 5's on the way, excited for those!

Nice! If anything you can just rotate them based on what you’re doing. Stoked to hear how they progress for you

Nice review 👍. I wish they made running shoes that you could also lift in. Don't always feel like changing shoes after a lift and i want to get in some cardio. Maybe in the future they'll make shoes where the midsole hardens when you lift - sort of like those non-Newtonian fluids that become solid when there's a certain amount of force. That would be cool to try.
@pedromfl
@pedromfl 10 месяцев назад
Funny idea but I think that's impossible. Fundamentally different necessities for lifting and running, but I hope they try it

That's a fun thought. I feel like the Nano X3 is attempting to do that with the LAR system, but yeah, those activities are so different think it would be tough to truly the nail the specificity of each in one singular shoe.

I was wondering about these, too. The design reminds me of the Nano X, a little bit. Great first impressions... looks like another pass.

Hi jake! I lift weights, but i also play tennis. I boght a couple of months ago a pair of nike tennis shoes called "vapor pro" that know half of pro players use. It looks eactly like this shoe. They probably thought, if the vapor shoe sells so much, lets make an lifting shoe as similar as possible and see how it goes 😂

Nike says those Zoom Air have pop when u lift. did u feel a pop? hopefully, it was not the plantar fascia or achilles.

How do you think the shooe will perform for weighted squat jumps with dumbell or ketlle Bell. 30 to 50 kg ?
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 10 месяцев назад
Should be okay, but I don't love how the air zoom packet creates this weird bubbly feel when trying to ground the feet and stabilize.

Would this be a good shoe to ease back into deadlifts and squats after an ankle tendon issue? I will be building slowly over the next several months until after completely healing. Thanks!
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 9 месяцев назад
Eh, I would go with different models. These are a little plush if your goal is more stability. Consider the TYR CXT-1 Trainer, Nano X3, or Adidas Dropset Trainer 2!

It can work for that to an extent! You may want to find something more specific if only plan to run in them, tho

Is it to replace the zoom superrep model?
@thatfitfriend

Tbh, if that’s the case then this is a muchhhhh stronger shoe and I could see it making sense in that vertical. Keen to see if they make another SuperRep

@@brunomarmosdeandrade9780 if it is the case. It’s just weird they would discontinue that model so deep into their growth and not even say anything about it with this shoe. Nike is odd 😂
