It’s about time Nike finally weeding out the resellers. They should have done this long ago. I already own all the shoes I really care about so I refuse to pay over retail for anything.
I think what Nike is doing is helping in getting shoes directly to consumers who want them to wear, not to sell, but there's still a ways to go. More people need to come to the realization that the buyers control the resale market, not the resellers and they need to stop paying resale prices. That's the only way reselling will die off completely. Nike can't make people realize this though, people will have to realize it on their own. In 5 years or so hopefully resellers will be a thing of the past.
Resellers will pop up in every community where theres rarity and exclusivity. Like the og scalpers who would, and still do resell concert tickets. I agree that the buyers are to blame, because they determine the prices. Popular shoes will always be hard to come by, and when they arent as hard like the military blues the community calls them bricks. Bricks are what we should be going for if we care about prices.
"resellers die off completely" Man do you live under a rock, Reselling will always be a thing no matter what it is. If there is a way to make profit, people will resale. So if not sneakers it will just be the next thing. Don't be so small minded and just move on if you can't afford something.
@@Timmy-mi2ef but how do reps affect actual production numbers? You’re legally not even supposed to sell them, sure theres a few in circulation that pass off as real. But thats a literal federal offense, I agree reps are a great option for everyday wear. But its not messing up the market that much.
I’m so glad to see resale culture slowing down. It’s time to get back to it being about the love of sneakers, not basing everything on hype/resale value. Hopefully the prices will continue to go down to where it’s at across the pond. The black cement Reimagined’s are still going for close to $300 after fees out this way. Glad I hit on release day
Honestly that makes him the GOAT GOAT lol, so true. The shoes are awful. Maybe all the NBA had poor shoes though at the time. Still... Im not sure Ant Edwards would look like Ant in early Jordans
If you grew up in that era they're comfortable because that's what we've always known. You have to remember it's tech that's 25-35 years old. They aren't made to play in anymore, just for style and that's it. They aren't anywhere near the quality the OGs used to be either, which makes it worse.
Slept through the early access on the Chicago dunks but hit on them this morning, Nike are killing the hype and the resellers which is probably a bad idea for business but good for us guys who actually have love for the shoes
Could be bad for business but prob not considering a large number of resold item get sold. So long as they maintain a system of multiple drops in small quantities, demand to be the first to have it will still be there and the first couple of drops could yield some normal healthier resell practices and not the bloated cancer it is now.
If this is killing the hype for anyone, it just means you were always in it for the money and never for the shoes. If you like the shoe then you like the shoe, shouldnt matter how many nike is making.
It’s a win for people like me that can’t pay resell price for many of these. I’m thinking I love Nike now more than ever, I’m gonna continue trying to get my favorites at retail. It’s very different from back in the day because now bots and monitors are taking the majority of the stock. I think many regular costumers like me are not happy with reseller tools, but this levels the field. I’m loving it brother!!!
I wish they’d kill the size 14 market. I’m gonna name a few. SB4s, Zion Voodoos, 85 High Black and White, Jumpman Jack. No size 14 available on SNKRS but resellers got em
Agreed man, as a dude with size 13 its a little better but the stock for sizes 12+ is terrible. Also while they're at it they should also stop the woman's exclusive thing, some of the colorways they release are great but it sucks that its just size 10.5 and lower.
Dude they don’t make close to 30-40 percent most of the time. Not resellers get their shoes resell so they’re making like $20-$30 if they’re lucky. I see those videos all the time where they’re desperate to just get what they paid. It’s hilarious because they could make more money at McDonald’s.
Don’t mind seeing most resellers are gone. But anyone notice how Nike quietly jacked up the retail prices of all their shoes. So in a sense, people are still paying over retail but the margins is going straight to Nikes pocket instead of the resellers 😂😂😂😂
I agree with you, here in Japan everything is basically sitting and getting discounted on the Nike app. I'm waiting for the military blues to get discounted as it's just sitting on the app.
People could have solved this problem long ago with a boycott from official retailers and resellers. But people are weak willed and addicted to consumption and appearance. It's just sad and pathetic.
I got into Nike recently specifically because their sneakers aren't going for ridiculous amounts anymore. I personally think this is very sustainable long term, they already have the brand desirability from all the athletes they have contracted, and I'm pretty sure they have enough data and analysts to estimate just how much they need to produce to stop people from profiting off of resell and meet the demands of the general public that want to buy and wear the sneakers.
If Nike is smart they would restock collabs travis scott, off white etc..) as that will benefit both the consumers (with access) and Nike (dont hsve to cut workforce and prodit) but their higher up executives are still living in the stone age 🤦🏾
@user-ez9bd1qc1l I don't disagree with you there but you have to know if you flood the market with exclusives although resellers can get them that would bring the overall resell value down significantly. Resellers will not be able to maximize profits because of that.
once all the new pairs are worn and used, the ones who held the pairs long term will have a say what the future market will be, they will be back just older
I wish Canada had EA and a SNKRS app, it's kinda crazy we still don't have it. If you want a reason for lackluster sales in our region, this might be one.
I've only recently been able to really build a collection bc sneakers are affordable. I'm in that 40s age bracket so if Jordan brand ever becomes "uncool", that's just one more thing I don't understand about the world. Love your content.
Was at a Sneaker swap meet over the weekend and the number of resellers was about half of what it was last year. The prices and stock were significantly lower than previous years and yet it was actually busier. It's a good time to be a buyer. 😁
For me, I wish they’d try to innovate the comfort of all Jordan models like they did with the sb 4s. Like for example, imagine Jordan 8s with Nike React technology. Take vans for example, you can buy classic models with “ultracush” technology. Give us some options.
RU-vid resellers don’t speak for me. “You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street.” Any hypebeast collector that’s acting salty can kick rocks
They could end reselling by just restocking more often. You can still have limited colors and colabs but would be cool if we could buy a few standard colors of each jordans all the time.
The Bred 4 reimagined are honestly super solid and a great pair, couldn't be happier myself that I got them in the release! It is indeed a great time to be a sneakerhead, many cool models are sitting or not selling out instantly.
I don't think brand desirability will disappear, it actually is beneficial for them if it goes down a bit, chasing the hype is what has made them go back innovation wise in my opinion.
The Black Cement/Bred 4 reimagined are the reason why I skipped on the Military blue 4s. I'm really digging those Chicago SBs. Great time to be a sneakerhead.
Recently picked up the Chicago dunks after missing out on them initially. I overpaid by about 30 quid as I ordered them before the sneakers drop, but regardless they’re a great shoe that you can grab for close to retail. Resellers killed a lot of releases for me so I’m glad things are coming back down to earth!
I love it there’s never been a better time. I was born in 1975 and I’ve never been happier as a collector. I can reach back and get stuff OG from the 80s for that part of my collection I can get retros from years that are still wearable and I could get Brand new stuff all in the same week I love it.
Resale market does nothing for Nikes profit just their sustainability as a top tier brand. If they simply stopped limited releases prices wouldn’t be so extreme on the resell market, as supply is a big driving factor. Limited the release window but drop high numbers. Let the kicks dictate value.
In my opinion the durabuck is dope and there's just no competition with it even tho it's fake it's just a material that looks nice and gives your foot a breather
I'm no expert but all I know is I can buy sneakers i like now for retail or less, goodbye resellers that charge x3-x5 on regular shoes. what a good time
I sure wish I could find the Big Money for retail! I’m the meantime, keep up the great work Nike. How bout celebrating with a restock of the Big Money. 🙏🏼
I traded a pair of NB 1906 valued for at like $170 for military 4s my score for this month. I’m done buying retail no point, if it’s not a super hyped shoe you already know you will be able to cop for under retail
Great take….never paid resell. I hit on Cements..Military and J pack…. Great time for nostalgic collector. Think Nike needs to be careful but those shareholders need feeding!
Yeah that’s true and I’ve mentioned it a bunch of times but it doesn’t explain the surge in sales and increase market cap other brands like asics and new balance and crocs have been enjoying over the last 20months or so which shows people out there are still buying up sneakers it’s just not all Nike product
I feel this is leftover covid mess being all 2020/21 Pairs restocking. But the hell if I know. Doubled up on the Chi SBs for like 380. Im happy with the times regardless.
I don’t mind them bricking the market but who really has money for all these shoes anymore anyway, recession is hitting hard and Nike just increasing the price of shoes every 6 months . They don’t really care about us or the market they just care about their pockets. Come on people
just buy what you really like. that’s why Nike doesn’t clutter their release calendar with classics, its a mix of mostly new colors-ways and few OG color ways.
I see pairs like the CPFM, FL SB dunks, Kd galaxies, all super limited, very few pairs to go around. Nah bro, I’m sure Nike knows what they are doing. They are just tunning their numbers to get max profits 💰. I mean $215 for a pair that cost them less than $20, come on.
2019 wasn’t durabuck, not even the 1999 was durabuck. The actual durabuck material hasn’t been used since around 1997 I think? They just use cheap fake nubuck now which is why I think the 2024 is better. Will age nicer
Nah man this is great. Let’s get back to wearing our damn shoes. If they came out with the OG 3-4-11 every year I’d buy just to have some crispies all year round!
For the cicago everyone got access also to the military blues too... I neved ever had EA in past 5 years but i got EA for both of these. Nike just want to think its scares and rare to flog millions of pairs to resselers.
I wear my red October's all the time won them in a raffle, so free to me, so no guilt wearing them When i picked them up, they had them in the glass case. i broke it immediately and put them on. The dude looked at me like i just killed someone😂
Nike are definitely over-saturating the market, but I like it it means I can cop for a good price. For me the only pair I’m looking to get this year now is the fear 4s. After that I’m going back to see if I can cop a pair or the 2019 breads and jordan 3 a ma maniere
Still 390 CAD (no tax/fees incl) for a size 12 black cement, $311 (no taxfees incl) CAD for the chicago dunks. Not tbe best pricing but not the worst. A lot of it has to do with the economy crashing. Now Nike finally gets the memo to make more pairs/the pairs we actually want right as the sneaker fever from the pandemic is subsiding. Great time to be a sneaker head as I was actually able to cop military blues on drop day in person which was a great experience. Missed the j pack Chicago's today though so I'm bummed. Hopefully resale stays stable for another month or two until I get them
Dude the bred 4 reimagined are NOT going for close to retail. He still paid OVER retail for a USED pair, wtf is he talking about? Why do all sneaker RU-vidrs do this? If a shoe is going for around $300 they’ll say this when not only is it going for a good amount above retail but that’s also BEFORE the fees. Just be honest, it’s not that hard.
