As a former Nike Employee of the Chicago outlet store on 85th and Cottage Grove, before I left in 2018, around 2015 Nike down with majority of the employees that were shareholders that invested in their stock and spoke to people about the tackle of resale culture to invest in inflation of their products for a additional discount added to the 30 percent at all nike stores. Because of this, if you remember at that time, Jordan brand just increased their price by $5 from $160 in 2016 into late of 2017, it increased from 170 to 185.00 supposedly saying that it's inflation from the shoes original release. Jordan brand has been ripping us off alongside with Nike since the late 1990s, early 2000s
Crazy my homie has a sneaker cleaning shop right across the street from the outlet on 86th and cottage, they always have a bunch of retros just sitting at that outlet lol
Not just Jordan it’s in general the whole Nike brand. They do a brilliant job spending there money marketing and signing athletes but the shoes and clothing are neglected. Other brands like adidas, new balance or ASICS focuses on the quality of material of the shoe and less on marketing the shoe and signing athletes.
@@Joosebro exactly! People act like everything is the same price it’s always been! Inflation is what it is. Houses and everything else is higher than it was.
@@Maximo5457you seriously miss camping out? Lmao that shit sucked bro come on. At the end of the day these are Nikes, Nike isn't exclusive. You want exclusive go buy designer
As a og at 54 these are the first pair of Jordan military blue 4's that I ever had and I love wearing them. Yeah mine had a few flaws but at the end of the day they're just shoes and are meant to be worn. I agree that Nike and Jordan brand should do better QC checks since they keep jacking up the prices.
i'm 56 and got my first flawed pair of SNKRS drops with these 4's, which are my 1st pair of Military Blues too. unlike many others, my powder Blue 9's were perfect. luck of the draw with Nike's QC 🤷🏾♂️
Shoes are meant to be worn and meant to be worn out over time exactly how a car is. Once you bought it, the depreciation value goes down. You can preserve as long as you can and resell it but you won’t cough up the same that you paid unless it’s a very rare release.
Yeah. The flaws are really minor. All stuff that you would have or wouldn't notice after a few wears. The leather quality is above average for a Jordan 4. People put too much emphasis on leather softness, which is different than quality.
Here in Taiwan when you cop in store on release date they ask your size(can only purchase one per person) and the staff shows and lets you check the shoe before you pay because they won”t accept returns (this is previous to a wide release like this one seems to be).
That's actually not a bad idea. Heck, they basically do the same when I purchase my plastic water pistols. I have to make sure it's operable because once I take it out of the shop, I'm stuck with it. lol Unfortunately, many of us (myself included) shop online. We're quite literally gambling when we click "submit order".
Funny how everyone complains, but they still sell out. As long as shoes are selling out, jordan brand won't change. If you want them to change, stop buying. They will be forced to fix the things people complain about. Mainly QC issues.
Me & my girl hit on the SD so I got my double up. After seeing these videos on the quality n all that when I finally got around to opening them (yesterday) I was nervous af but both my pairs is good normal 4’s nothing tragic & I love how close they are to the true OG’s (1989)
My EA pair was fine. None of the mentioned flaws. I do notice the more Off-white bluish tint to the leather, and darker shade of blue for accents, but not a deal breaker for me. I had these in 90'. I get a 2nd pair Sat. I aint waiting 30 more years for this OG.
I hit on the EU shock drop and got my pair in yesterday. Sliiiiiiiight imperfections on the suede and I think a glue stain on the air bubble. I mean it is what it is, no one's gonna drop down to the ground to check em. Good enough for me, going on feet today!
Decided to buy the pine green sb 4s instead of these due to reviews on quality control but hearing they’ll realise them sb joints in military colourway soo I’ll wait on them
Them being called ‘white navy’ as opposed to military blue, can expect a different shade of blue to be used. But end of day will look very similar anyways
I agree man, shoes are meant to be worn. The colorway is the most important feature to me. I hit on the shock drop, and had a pink stain on the heal stitching straight out the box just like the example you showed. It washed off, life goes on.
The worst for me personally is my size is a 17 so I don’t have much choice in the return game. I would never be able to go to a store to buy my shoes anyway. Every sneaker I have is internet purchased
I've just ordered via EA, but if the leather on mine is as bad as I'm hearing then they'll be going straight back to Nike with a handwritten note to stop mugging us all off. The recent Craft and Bred pairs were acceptable quality, so these should be no different IMO.
I hit on the shock drop and luckily my pair came in with basically no flaws. I think I lucked out big time and should definitely keep them cuz not everybody's pairs will look A1 quality control wise like you said
Mine from shock drop have bad QC issues. So bad I'm trying to cop one more pair to try to get a little better pair or can make one good pair out of 2 😂
For the price base, for youth/adult gymshoes. Nike definitely should step up their thorough inspection process of every pair before boxing the shoes because nobody wants to feel like they're settling for a pair of gymshoes they spent over $100 especially the pair that's over $150 or more. The gymshoes that's $200+ should come flawless!
When adjusted for inflation these are still cheaper than the OG's. These shoes are pretty good quality, but the insoles are really thin. I do a lot of walking at my job and these things are killing my feet.
They been scamming us bro nice of yall to finally catch up! Love how they say they aren’t trying to perpetuate resale but the barely stock any kobes when they are selling them. Been a life long fan of kobe & it’s impossible to get of stuff rn without paying resale & nike is literally perpetuating it.
Mine came without blemish, which is almost unheard of. I copped the early drop and they look dope as hell. I have the 2012 pair and they're better than these, but I still dig this pair and been wearin' 'em like crazy.
both my black and red 4s and military blue 4s have a bad flaw on the right shoe heel.. almost like someone stepped on them and made the heel look short. like come on $215 and they can’t make the shoes match?
I have a ton of Jordan 4s including sb 4s and bred 4s reamagined 4s etc etc etc . These 4s while not the highest quality they are still probably my favorite 4s I own. So tuff on foot
I liked the pictures of the shoes, but in hand my pair didn't look that good. It came to me with creased toe boxes like someone wore them just to stand on their toes as hard as possible, then took them off. Flipped them for a little bit of profit just because I'd be a fool to just return them.
I get ya opinion man like yeah if you get a pair you could return it then get your money back, but it should be the case especially in this economy with that price tag you should get something to where you dont feel the need to return it.
100% they are. I wont give them another dime. 3,4, 5 hundred for a pair of Jordans now? Ridiculous. I started buying reps and dont regret it one bit. The quality of them now is honestly right up there with Nike or even better. Ive been wearing real Jordans since 1985 too
I got my AJ 4 blue for retail which is around $235 (tax included). Jordan is not worth anywhere near $200+ unless it is one of those extremely limited release.
I got dem on early access and just got dem earlier this week and was a little bit disappointed they didn’t make the leather and midsole a little softer
I have been rocking this channel for about ten years now...I am 30 years old now & I have stopped caring for the maintenance of my shoes. I used to care for not creasing them & rocking those sneaker shields but I have outgrown that and just enjoy the sneakers when you wear them. I love that my highschool kicks are coming out again & flawed or not, it shouldnt matter because they will show wear & tear overtime ! #WearYourSneakers
I got two pairs and the first I got my hands on are pretty flawless, no stains or scuffs. I already started wearing them, but isn’t that what they are for?
I’m picky when it comes to TIMBS, want them to be as fresh as possible, but with Js I’m with you, if I like the model and color way, it’s an easy cop for me. The Nike Air is a + as well
You go into these shoe stores and you see them selling lightning 4s for $400 plus and see the quality of the shoes are worse than reps. They have shoes on display with glue marks, stitching flaws, discoloration, inconsistency’s etc. they are robbing the consumer but yet the consumers now a days aren’t knowledgeable about the shoes. It’s sad to see people spending $200+ on shitty quality. But like you said. Jordan brand was never really considered luxury but also consider compared to years back. Even back in 2013 the “shitty” quality was better than today’s. Unfortunately though it’s not just the shoes that is cheaped out on quality. That’s just inflation for you. Mass produced products with high prices and low grade quality that wont last longer than 5 years. A buddy of mine is a sneaker restorer and works on shoes that are seperating and falling apart that have came out within the last 2 years. Yes shoes are meant to be worn but knowing you are selling a product that is meant for some sort of longevity do better.
As somebody whos been wanting this shoe since 2012 and understands that the way this pair looks closer to the 89 down to finally copping a pair for retail finally, im happy with my pair. This pair and the breds are some of the more comfortable 4s ive owned
I personally thought it was good for what it is. The Black Military 4s were fairly bad tbh compared to these... and maybe the QC should be better since they priced hiked them at $215 MSRP.
Kids complaining about these wouldn’t have survived during my era 2010s midsole chipping after 1 wear, plastic leather, heel tabs breaking off. These are great quality to me. All my pairs came straight from Nike.
I feel you 100% I want the sneaker cause of look and if it looks hot I want it. I just wanted another 4 with an og colorway and the nike air on the back. The grid being off I can see people complaining about but let's be real the only person examining the sneaker with a magnifying glass is yourself. Also like you said creases are gonna come regardless.
Mine are perfect, I got the last pair so the one I got was a demo one and it has a tiny stain on the inside from what I assume was people trying it on, it has a small crease that’s already started from wearing a day, other then that they’re pretty good
I actually don’t think they spend much in marketing as much anymore. I ain’t seen a Nike commercial in years. And all these platforms and content creators provide release dates and etc for free( from Nike). Nike isn’t paying them to advertise shoes they pay to carry in stock or shoe in their content. That comes out of these separate entities own budget or time. I don’t see a commercial for retros coming out every month 🤷🏾♂️ so they could lower some costs if they want.
I hit on the shock drop and when they came in I inspected them and mines had good quality no major glue stains, no creases I got blessed with a good pair! I think these 2024 are better then the retros IMO, Nike air on the back and the OG shape🔥🔥🔥 and they're not that uncomfortable I been wearing my pair daily since I got em and I love everything about them
I've been collecting for 20 years. Just opened mine. Quality is just fine. Luckily, no flaws. Like u said, its just a regular jordan 4 quality. However, I am shocked that the blue and white are so drastically different on each of these releases. I never seen 89 pair in person but have the 06,12 and now 24. Could almost be 3 different colorways. It's the only Retro I've ever seen that changes this much. Odd. Still gorgeous tho!
Just got mine delivered, and they're flawless! These are just as I remembered in 89. This is what the shoe was when they first dropped! NGL, some of them damged ones you showed look way too bad to be retail. They might be reps.
