I just ordered the Peg 41...listening to other reviewers putting down this shoe is quite something. You are the only who seems to rightfully tell people that this shoe makes you work, like you have to do the work you know how an actual daily trainer is supposed to be. I loved the 39 but found the 40 a little clunky ( i know because they are technically the same shoe lol ). Cant wait to try the 41 the all green was sold out 😢
@SagasuRunning

Yup… a trainer should help you train… not do the work for you. Save that extra help for the race shoes. 💯 I noticed the Volt colorway was sold out. Shame, as its fantastic!

There is a guy who have run quite a long 20 miles run in the peg 41 and saying it is not bouncy like his Crocs slide. I just wonder what happen if he had run 20 miles in his Crocs instead 😂. I feel as most running shoe youtubers have become an hive mind and say the same things about all the shoes. They want shoes to feel different but at the same time they want shoes to be high stack, agressive rocker and so on. If something different comes out it’s casted out as old. They also seem to be unable to review shoes for the average runner, 20-30km a week, isn’t focused on marathon PBs.
@SagasuRunning

Agree...and for the use case you referenced here the Pegasus 41 is an excellent option. As a ShoeTuber...I'll always cover what I'm interested in and what I like to run in, regardless if it's "of the moment" or not. In fact that was one of the reasons I started this channel, to make the content I wanted to see about shoes I found little useful information on.
@derringera

I can understand why it goes that way though. People running more km are chewing through more shoes, are seeking more variety, and most of those km are an increase in slow miles that are nice on a high stack shoe. When I ran 20km a week I had 1 shoe and event if it had weaknesses I wasn't running enough for it to bother me.

One more time i have to disagree with you about the P41 being wider. In my US11 the forefoot/toebox area (upper) is tighter. If I compare the insoles and put them one in top of the other the P40 one is larger by a few mm. Even measuring the toebox in the upper there is more volume in the P40. And this does not surprise me because every other year Nike upgrades the foam and make a tighter forefoot area, next year will be a more accommodating/airy upper but they will find a way to alter/change the foam composition. Think VF vs VF2 or 35 Turbo vs Turbo 2 for example or P39/P40 all these models were tighter and less airy in the first generation. I can clearly see the P41 upper being lower on my socks because the big toe area rubs and not in the 40 (in the same size).
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 3 месяца назад
You are relentless! As I pointed out in this video I’m confident it’s the same last now. I also pulled out my insoles from my 40s and the 41s and they are identical and completely interchangeable in my US9. The extra width comes from the wider midsole platform and the more accommodating upper. That is VERY noticeable for my foot. Also as I said in one of your other comments… the toebox taper and volume between the 40 and 41 feel the same for me…. In fact I’m getting the exact same wear spot from my big toe I. The exact same place. The only thing o can think of as to why your shoes don’t match mine is scaling to the larger sizes. Possibly Nike changed the dimensions for it in the models or something. I still can’t explain the weight discrepancies…

Great video. I'm curious as to why you don't put much mileage on your shoes? In the first impression video, I think you said you put 700km across 3 pairs of Peg 40's. Did you feel the shoes were done at that point? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I just retired my own pair of Peg 39's after 1000kms.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 3 месяца назад
I’m happy with 200-250mi on trainers. As soon as a shoe feels flat or feels off in anyway, I retire it. If they are still in ok shape I’ll wear them casually or donate them (I have zero storage space) and if they are trashed they get binned. With the 40 last year… I had the pair you see in the videos with about 175mi, then a black pair that was in a few others with about 200mi and a 3rd pair I lost in a lost bag while traveling they had the rest. I am trying to push a handful so shoes this year to see how far I can run in them, but will be happy with 400-500k. We shall see.

Prior to buying a Peg 40, I tried a 41 at a Nike store. But for me it really lacks cushioning at the forefoot during toe offs. Like my toes are really touching the ground. Same impression my wife said when she tried a 41, she currently has a 40. Not sure if its because the ReactX foam compressed too much on that part or a difference in the rocker. Something I dont feel in the Peg 40.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 3 месяца назад
It was there in the 40, but React foam is firmer so it was less noticeable. I do think Nike shaved off a little bit more foam off the toe. The minimal toe feel is a hallmark of Nike shoes, always has been. They all have it.

Re: Width ...assume your L&R feet are the same shape? Mine are different girth and size....makes finding a shoe a bit awkward at times. 🫤 I've spent so much time running in the Invincible 3 for all my mileage that I'm used to a very cushioned ride... I think I just need to appreciate that a more responsive shoe is going to feel firmer... I need something for my 5K efforts, intervals and sprints... My favorite Pegasus was probably the 35, although I appreciated that the 36 felt slightly lighter in weight and a bit squidgier if not a bit thinner underfoot.... Lot of reviews of the 35 said it ran warm but I actually found it nicely plush and was probably my favorite Pegasus. But I did really enjoy the 36 and after this I became disillusioned and ended up moving to an invincible eventually after a couple of poor Pegasus models. @ucatani
@ucatani 3 месяца назад
I empathize with your confusion and I've been seeing these inconsistencies guiding the debate all over the tubsphere. I think it's because brand lovers from opposing factions often rely on official specs to ground their arguments, not only for weight, but stack height, offset, and degree of foam softness as well, and the whole thing is just crazy. For instance, we all know 10mm drops have been deemed obsolete in the RU-vid space, but then again, the beloved Puma VN2 was measured at a 10.8 mm drop (35.4/24.6) by RunRepeat, but you're not going to hear a word about it. The Asics Novablast 4 was gauged at 9mm too, although it is widely claimed to be an 8mm, by both Asics and youtubers alike. The NB Rebel forefoot height was measured at a meager 21.5mm on the forefoot (a 2.5mm difference compared to the brand's claims), and the list goes on and on.

Specs are getting more and more frustrating in running shoes as they get more cloak and dagger every year. It’s why rely on RunningWarehouse to at least be consistent across brands. It does sometimes take new models on their site a week or two to get final specs… I guess they happened here.
