Greeting from China, thanks for your great review! It's very rare for a boot reviewer to take a whole month and actually finishing the whole break in process to do a holistic review, that's very nice and can really help us, because unlike pros, we don't change boots too often. I do love the upper of Magista, so I'm very excited about the new AG version! (cuz most Chinese pitches are very short artificial grass) Can't wait to see more reviews you made!
I instantly loved these! I feel this is the first boot that does what it says it’s supposed 😂 the grip is insane and you can actually feel it. Throw in my 40% Nike discount and these are really a must have for me. Great review by the way!
Thanks for all the insights! Hope 2023 will be a good year for you and your channel. You definitely deserve way more subscribers-think sr4u levels!! I sometimes feel Josh ‘tests’ boots by just looking at them these days, hehe. These one-month reviews are special. Really adding something meaningful to the (especially in recent years) never-ending cycle of new releases!
After watching your vid and waiting for the DF vid, I just couldn’t wait any longer. I bought these in an 8.5 which is half a size smaller due to them running a touch long. It’s perfect, about a quarter thumb gap. I’ve had issues with 8.5s being too tight and 9s being too big due to my wide foot. I’m thinking I have a similar foot shape to you. These instantly felt amazing out of the box. Can’t wait to use them!
so irritated that bots bought up these boots up instanly, so frustrating from your average boot buyer....... I love the review but when i see it i get a little tilted
Brilliant review, I do appreciate your time and efforts that you have put into the review and editing the video, very informal. I love it….. If I could ask a favor for a future video, general fitness videos…what to do/ drills you would do to get back into shape.
@@controllex_ they basically did them when they sponsored Manchester United as a nod to a rule Sir Alex Ferguson had. Once adidas took over Utd, the Academy packs basically stopped
@@NoahCavanaugh haha that's great. Love the content keep posting videos of Match Analysis bc I learn a good bit. So got into soccer late in life during college playing intramurals and fell in love. Now I play in a Sunday league and a 7v7 league during the week. Need to learn as much technique as I can to help with lack of skill hahaha.
The Gripknit is the star of the show. But the whole package is a very natural, distraction-less, and comfortable boot. I managed to get mine at launch, when they arrived I was very pleased with them. I have medium to narrow feet, I was home in them the instant I slipped them on. So far I have only wore them indoors. From the light juggling and slight touches, I could immediately notice the extra grip. It was just right, and without the need of any rubber elements. That would’ve added bulk and stiffness to this thin, pliable upper. I haven’t smiled so hard for a boot since the Vapor 8 and Superfly 4. A lot people are going to really like these.
Hey Noah! First time watcher of your channel and I've had a great experience. Your information and detail is unmatched! Quick question, I wear orthotic insoles in my Tiempos which have always fitted fine, - do you think these boots would suit orthotics? Cheers, appreciate this vid!
Thank you mate! I appreciate that 🤝 I'd say be careful with these - the toe box sits quite a bit lower than the Tiempo, and I worry that if your orthotic insoles are significantly thicker than the stock Nike ones, you might crush your toes. If you can get to a store to try a pair on before buying I definitely would!
Great review update - thanks! But I have to know, how in the hell did you make them look so new again? What kind of cleaning products and methods did you use? Please share!
Noah, thank you for the thorough review! How would you say the durability of it will last overtime? The material seems like it would really stretch out and not have the same durability against a leather equivalent.
@@NoahCavanaugh Damn. They just dropped in Aus. I was going to pick up a pair but realised I’ve got an old pair of Hypervenom Phantom 3s laying around. Watched your vid and probably going to get back into them. Might double sock as they are a touch long. I’d say I have a similar foot size to you in terms of wide front but skinny mid/heel.
Hi Noah, tI ried these on today and the length was fine apart from my second toe was getting squeezed quite a bit & they generally felt quite tight. Do these boots have any stretch in the toe box area after use/feel looser after some use? Thanks!
Hi Noah thanks for the review. I am definitely interested in getting a pair of these. I have had issues with boots in the past due to me putting most amounts of pressure on the outsoles of my feet. This forces me to avoid boots with bladed studs on the outsides (boots like vapors, phantom gts, etc). I, like you, am a huge fan of the hyper venom 3 elite low cut (my favorite boot ever). Would you say that these boots are similar to the hypervenom 3’s? And do you think I would have any issues with pressure points on the outsoles of these? Thanks and keep up the great work!
Copped these in the high top version and I got no regrets, replaced my f50s w this cuz those were too big n slipped out of my feet with play and I got no regrets these r amazing
@@edwin5091 I wore the super fly 8 that’s my current boot after I sold my f50s, these r much better at wrapping my foot they are super nice on feet because I have a wide foot and they’re rly comfortable. They r wider n a bit longer than the vapors but I would still go tts tbh.
Hi Noah, have you ever broken your right ankle? It looked like your right ankle is a little different shaped vs your left ankle. Great video about the boot, I was just curious about it, so thank you for the in depth information.
First off, Great review! I’m surprised to hear that these are less wide than the HyperVenom 3s I thought in photos and videos that they looked almost identical in width if not a bit roomier. A bit disappointing to hear they may even be thinner than the GT2s as I had quite a hard time with those having to go up half a size compared to the HyperVenom 3s and hoped these would be more similar to the HyperVenom 3s in terms of fit in the forefoot. If you have any experience with the PhantomVisions how would you say these compare to those particularly to fit in the forefoot?
They’re about equal width to the GT2 but much more flexible around your feet. They molded really well to my feet. They fit similar to phantom visions but are a bit slimmer in the forefoot. Not by much, but a bit less volume
Hi Noah, love the review and this made me want to buy and try this shoe for myself. I recently got my Phantom GX Elite By You and after only one single training the swoosh on the right heel started to come off from the top.. Have you heard about this issue on these shoes before and how would you recoommend fixing it, you think? Super glue? Textile glue? Tips appriciated!
@@NoahCavanaugh simply glued it back on. Shoe too good to return to be honest. Btw, have you had any problem with the sock squeezing the foot because of the inner material kind of sticks to the sock?
I usually go for 8.5us for football boots (superfly5, hypervenom3), according to your video the phantom gx does leave a room in your toe box and this problem happened to me with my latest boots too (puma ultra 1.3 8.5us). So in your opinion, should i go for phantom gx 8.5us or 8us instead?
I went with my usual size and got a chance to try them on matches yesterday. These boots are really a game changer and i am really satisfied with them. Thank you again for the review!
Really wanna buy a pair but I’m worried abt how they will clean as some grass pitches I have to play on are awful. I’m guessing the gripknit cleans fine but does the fly knit upper clean well?
Like you Noah, I like my toes right at the tip of the boot - should I go half a size down to achieve this coz these run slightly long? I have wide feet also so this would impact my choice - or should I just stay away altogether and accept maybe these boots just aren't for me?
Hi Noah, great review, the detail was very helpful. I have a question tho, as a left back do these boots protect your foot and have the support needed to be a fullback?
buzzing I bought these & got them much cheaper than retail, got to say I now think this colour way is better than the red & black, will probably get a darker pair soon🙌
Would you say the protection on these are not good enough, playing as a cdm I find I get stud on and my feet will bruise what do you think? Everything is perfect except I’m not sure about that.
I wouldn't worry about protection mate. Football is a contact sport, and you're going to get stepped on sometimes! Pick the boot that FITs the best. It sounds like these are exactly what you're looking for! 🤝
I wish manufacturers would use a last like TYR. People’s feet are not like narrow sausages. The speed/agility one seemingly gets from narrow shoes is negligible in almost every sport.
Thanks for the review! Which boots would you prefer phantom GX hypervenom 3 or hypervenom phantoms in terms of lockdown? I am having problems with lockdown and heel lockdown cuz of my foot shape.
hello, what do you think is better tiempo 9 or phantom GX. because right now no boots fit me only 9 Tiempo, and I think to try gx give me advice what is better Tiempo 9 or gx? Thanks, i like you!
Hey Noah, really appreciate the review. What’s you opinion on the AG academy model? Would you recommend it over the normal MG model if I’m planing to play on AG field? Thanks
@@NoahCavanaugh Ah I see, thanks for the response. I feel like the AG academy model soleplates looks pretty cheap compared to MG so I want know your opinion on it by just looking at it visually.
Hey man, I have the opportunity to get these boots with an AG plate, would you say these boots are an all rounder? In terms of comfort and durability as well as good feel when it comes to passing and shooting?
@@NoahCavanaugh completely get that but when it comes to boots I go for comfort over everything and durability too. I do like the Vapor’s but seeing your review with this and talking about the upper im feeling I really want to get these boots.
Hey Noah, My phantom venom are size 11.5 and they are the perfect size but I tried on an 11.5 in the phantom gx and they are good width wise but length wise they are like a finger long , do you think I should get a size 11 or try a different boot or just stick with the 11.5? (I’m flat footed btw , so my foot is wider mid foot)
Same here bro my usual size is 8.5 in mercurials and they fit perfect but I tried the DF versions regular size and there was a big gap length wise. I tried half size down and they felt good. Will the low cut versions half size down feel the same?
Hey man I was wondering as you’re a pro you probably have your routine down or have for a bit was wondering how often you lift how many times a week and is it training or sometimes just more for your personal enjoyment
@@NoahCavanaugh Ooo nice sounds good yes I am trying to just dive straight into training for soccer now I had bad legs but slowly thru weight training I made the muscles feel good enough to play now and I want to try to get as good as possible and train professionally and see what I’m possible of so I just stopped the weightlifting because it made me feel unathletic and am just rebuilding again
Would these boots be suitable for a narrow foot player? I tried the phantom gt2, but felt it was too wide, and then went to the adidas speedflow.1 which fit perfectly, but now I need new boots and I’m not sure which to get. Thanks
I am planning to get these to play on AG, but a concern I've heard is that it's dangerous to use a FG boot on artificial grass, what is your opinion on that?
hello noah I'm from Indonesia I have a question. maybe i will not buy phantom gx elite, but i will buy phantom gx academy, my foot size is 25.5 cm wide 11 cm is good should i take size 40.5 or 41? Will the material of the academy type shoes also form wide feet like mine?
@@NoahCavanaugh thanks noah I will take size 40.5 for Phantom GX Academy FG, because in size 41 my toe doesn't reach the end of the shoe, there is still a cavity of about 0.7 cm. is the phantom gx academy material soft? because I use the Phantom GT2, my foot blisters in the heel area, it makes me sick..
Hey Noah, I saw you said the fg version are great on ag. If I just have enough to buy one pair. Should I buy the FG or the AG to play on both pitches. (Play mainly on ag)
Hypervenom 3s are my favorite boot OAT, I have 4 pairs and I just ordered the orange colorway of the gx right after watching this video. I’m hoping they will be similar to the hypervenom 3 🙏🙏
would you reccomend these or the vapour 15 for a left back sizing doesn't matter they both fit me great Im just curious about performance for my position as an overlapping left back.
im a right back and last szn i used the mecuria vapor 14 now im using the f50 leather remake. woulld you recomend me purchasing the air vapor 15 or the gx
Hello I have a wide foot. First time trying these phantoms and I been wanting to use cleats after 3 years. Idk if I should get my actual size 10.5 or go half a size up. Since i get size 11 when i buy Nike tiempos TF.
Hey Noah my foot is in a weird size rn. I had to sell my phantom venoms that were a size 9 bc I felt pressure on the ends of my toes but 9.5 shoes have a little bit of dead space, so my foot is naturally an in-between size. My question is which size do u think I should order since there aren’t any stores I can try them on before buying
Hey Noah my left foot is smaller than my right foot so whenever i use right size on nike cleats, my left cleat has a little more space. Should i go down a size and pray my right cleat stretches or stay true to size?😅
That's a tough one mate! I'm not sure... if you need different sized boots, you might want to check out Imotana who do fully custom football boots for a retail price - they're based in Germany and can do custom sizing for you 🔥 I've got a review on my channel about them as well if you want more info
What does true to size mean? Does it mean that if you are size 9US in football boots, you are also size 9US on your casual, running, formal shoes, etc.?
True to size on football boots mate! I wear a 9US across the board unless a boot fits long or short (only about 2 models). I wear a 9.5US in most other shoes
So i have an issue with nike sizing I am 27,5 CM, but Nike does not operate with EU 43,5. Only 43 or 44.... I have Nike mercurial superfly V in 44, and safe to say, i have some space in the toebox. in 43, these boots would crush my toes... My question is will the Phantom GX be the perfect boot for me to try in 43? As you said, the upper texture molds around the feet. Will the added heel cushion affect my issue? can i maybe try to expand them just a little with a shoeblock for example?
Hi Noah I have a follow on question from this thread. I’ve got a Uk 11 and 11.5, the 11.5 has quite a bit dead space/excess material when I bend my foot, given what you’re saying with how it breaks in, it’ll get worse. HOWEVER, the size 11 fits great width wise and length is ok as well. But I find the gx has a shallow toebox that’s pressing on my big toe that’s giving me cause for concern as it’s a pressure point. I’ve worn the size 11 boots around the house for two days and tried that ice bag trick unisport show. And even still the upper didn’t stretch enough to release the pressure from the upper on my big toe due to low toe box. From playing actual games/training etc do you think the upper will stretch and the low toe box issue I have will subside? Thanks in advance for reading
I just got these and I love them very much but I have a very big problem, my right foot fits so good I love it but my left one there is so much space like a good thumb of gap I can really feel it when playing. Is it just my feet or is this nikes fault?
As long as the left and right boot are the same size mate, it probably means your feet are different sizes. That's fairly common though, and you might just have to put some paper or stuffing at the end of the toe area on your left side, OR if you can manage, get 2 different pairs and one of them can fit your left side and one can fit your right side 🤝
@@NoahCavanaugh do you think there’s any width difference between us 9, 9.5 and 10? Or the differences in size is the length? I think i might need to change my size as i am quite wide feet. I can fit 9.5 and 10 is just that us 10 theres a big chunk of space at the toe box area whereas 9.5 theres like a half space.
Hey Noah. If my ideal comfortable shoe size is 43.5 for normal shoes(not football), and my predator size is a 44 2/3, do u suggest going 43 or 44 on these GX's, since nike doesn't have that size...I have somewhat wide feet. Uve been my go to whenever i wanna buy a new pair or do some training on the side...insane man
@@NoahCavanaugh I have the 18.3 pink. Its been with me for 4 years now and extremely worn out. And for the size i really like it. A tiny bit of space in the toe area and not too tight on the sides...just enough to grip my foot.
@@adamsleiman1224 I’d probably go 43 then? It’s hard to tell over text mate, you might have to try them on 🤔 I can give my best guess but it doesn’t help if they’re totally different boots. Hopefully the 43 works out!
@@NoahCavanaugh In that case should i just stick with an adidas shoe of the same size? Anyways hopefullyy its worth it cuz by the time they come itll be too late to return…thank you for the insight man love ur work
Which boots upper do you think is similar to the upper of the gx if you look at softness and how thick/thin it is? Because i love the knit upper but the boot is a bit to wide for me so i am looking for a boot that has as similar knit upper.
Love the in depth analysis. Your true to size is measured with socks or barefoot? How does the Phantom GX compare with the Tiempo in terms of length and width?
Socks are only a fraction of a cm, so I don't think it matters either way - especially if they are thinner socks. Both Tiempo and GX are true to size - the GX MAYBE fits 1/4 size long at most for some foot shapes. It's all going to depend on how well you fit in either.
Noah, the only boots I have ever really loved are the Puma Evospeeds. I have been searching ever since my stash ran out 2 years ago for the most similar boot on the market and wasted a lot of money. Could these be them with the super flexible soleplate and low toe box? Any recommendations welcome Thank you
These are excellent boots in my opinion mate, but they're not as thin as a speed boot/evospeed. I'd say the closest thing on the market to that right now is probably the F50 Adizero 4 Remake, but those are really hard to find... If you don't mind leather, the Morelia Neo 3 Beta MIJ from Mizuno is super raw and excellent 🔥
I just wanted to know, I’ve just got a pair of these and after about 4 hours play time out of the box I’ve got hot spots on the back of my heels and it’s coming from the top of the padding in the heel, I just nested to know how can I break the heel in because the upset is super soft as is ?
So,my problem is that i bought a pair of superfly 9 pro in my usual 11 size us,and they literally make me feel like i don t have blood flow in my feet, and they are way too tight, don t know if that s how they are supposed to fit until broken in,so i was thinking of buying elites(i heard they are wider) and going half a size up and try to break them in because i heard a lot of good things about that air zoom tech, even tho i m not that quick but i think their responsiveness would help me accelerate faster. On the other hand there are the phantom gx in town, but i never tried a phantom, and i heard only good things about them, but i don t know if i should get my usual size 11 or go with 11.5 to make sure they fit well, and i don t know if their lack of responsiveness would make me slower or something.Hope i didn t make u angry with this comm and sorry about my grammar(english is not my first language)
I'd go with an 11 in the Vapor Elites AND the Phantom GX! I reckon that will give you the best fit 🤝 The GX will stretch/mold more around your foot for sure
Not really, it feels like a normal FG soleplate just a bit more flexible. Nowadays we're used to carbon fiber and all these stiff materials, so it just feels less aggressive than that 🔥
I'm pretty sure my foot is similar to yours. The phantom ultra is the best boot I've ever worn, especially when broken in, and i've bought some Hypervenom 3s in SG, but haven't had the time to use them yet. I'm sick of having periods where there just aren't any great boots out. So I want to stock up. My question is, GX or phantom ultra and why? Does the gx break in and actually stretch to become wider? And once broken in do they ever trouble you at all with any pains or niggles? Because as you say, the last is thinner, so does that cause any troubles past break in period? I can buy more phantom ultras now, but I'd have to pay resell, and I'll happily do that unless the gx basically gives the same level of comfort and performance, in which case I'll go GXs.
I use HV3, Phantom Ultra, and Phantom GX on a regular basis! Those 3 are my go to match boots 🔥 Watch through the video for my thoughts mate, everything is in there!
Do you think the pink/black colorway will be released to the public again? If not I’ll get this colorway cause WOW. Remind me of my phantom 3s that I use once in a blue moon haha
