Nike Zoom Fly SP Running shoe test and review. I've been looking at the Nike Next% for a while now but figured I would try the cheaper version out first to see if I actually enjoyed running in these shoes before handing over my money to Nike for the real thing.
I'm testing the shoes out on my run to see if they are comfortable and if I enjoy this new type of running shoe, new to me anyways.

I’m a 2:19 marathoner and i use the Zoom fly Sp most most of my runs. It’s super firm at first but loosens around 30 miles in feels great. The laces sucks though. They get loose easily. Great video.

itzmedwb thanks. I know what you mean. Last Sunday during my race I had to stop twice to tie my laces, I think I’m going to replace them. 2:19 is wicked fast. Very impressive.

I completely agree with your thoughts about this running shoes. I'm used to run in Nike Free 4.0 and it was weird the first time. I did experienced calf strain after long run on these shoes. IDK if it was caused because of the drastic change but as of today I still experience calf issues whenever I use them. I stopped using them for a while and my calves are good. But I would agree they make you go faster.
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
I normally hear that they warn you when you start wearing Nike Free that you might feel it in your calves, because it takes some getting used too. I guess that works the other way around too, if you are used to Nike Free it might be hard on your calves at first to try other shoes. Do you use the Nike Zoom Fly again now or are you afraid they will hurt your calves?
@alfredoriverarodriguez2964
@alfredoriverarodriguez2964 4 года назад
@@RunArnoRun I stopped using them, the pain in my calves is gone now. I guess I'll stick to the Free for now. I bought a pair of the Adidas Pure Boost Go and they feel amazing. I'm battling pain to the external side of my knee now but I don't think is linked to the running shoes, overuse and high volume and intensity might be the cause. Don't want to stop running though.
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
@@alfredoriverarodriguez2964 that sounds like it might be something to pay attention to though. Adjusting your training, some exercises that would help strengthen the area that is painful. Perhaps a physio visit can clear up what the problem is and what you should do to take care of it. I've had knee problems before too and with some exercises and adjusting my training schedule I got through it. If you keep going and it stays painful you might be making it worse. Just something to think about.

Hi! I’m looking for the most comfortable shoe under $75 (like sales). Currently I’m between the zoom fly sp and the exp x14. Any suggestions on other shoes or on which or better? Thanks!
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
Arctifox Drew I’m really enjoying the Zoom Fly SP, so I think they are a great option. I also love the Adidas Solar Boost and you can sometimes find them on sale for about the same price now. Both are great shoes, Nike is a little bit lighter though and the Solar Boost has a little more cushioning to it. I’ve not run in the exp x14, so couldn’t say what difference is.

Hey Arno prima video. Ik heb net op de Next% de marathon van Valencia gelopen in 2h55. En ik ben nu aan het nadenken of ik de Zoomfly 3 wil kopen als trainer. Carbon plaatje lijkt me toch wel een must have voor een snelle trainer. Toch?

Hmmm... I thought UB's were the best ...good to know ...about Nike next%.
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
Kana Lord I still love the UB too, but I think the Next% might help with speed. It’s not a shoe for training though, the Next% has a short lifespan on it’s foam, so just for races when it matters. 😀

Hey I was wondering what the size to fit what? Is it true to size, should I go one size lower or higher?
@RunArnoRun

Hey, they are a little bit small. They say to go 1/2 a size bigger, I went a full size bigger than my normal size and they fit great.

how many kilometers will these shoes last? I mean cushioning and responsiveness. I have run my 400 km and it feels like it's over.
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 3 года назад
Hi, It's hard to put a number on it, since it depends on some variables, most of all where you run and how you run. 400 km seems a bit fast for them to lose responsiveness. I've heard that on average it's about 600km, but again, it's really hard to put just one specific number on it. If you feel the shoes are no longer the way they used to be it is probably time to retire the shoes.

Great review! How has this shoe held up over miles/ would it be okay for a daily trainer?
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
I don't run in it every day and I have a lot of running shoes that I alternate, but I've done a good amount of runs in this pair and they are still holding up perfectly.

In my experience, it is important to run with a mid foot or forefoot foot strike with the zoom fly and Vaporflys.
@RunArnoRun
@RunArnoRun 4 года назад
Mark Paren yeah and I think the roundness in the front of the shoe will help with the placement and speed maybe.
@Crismans843
@Crismans843 4 года назад
RunArnoRun Zoom flys are my daily work out shoe and I reserve the Vaporflys for half and full marathons. I gained 10 to 20 seconds a mile by adjusting my easy run foot strike from heal to mid foot. The shoes want you to lean forward.
@RunArnoRun

Mark Paren for long races that could really make a difference, can’t wait to see what they’ll do for me during a race.
