Did she say freedom to "do and be anything - without government getting in the way"? Her party tells people who they can love, what women can do with their body, and change what history is being taught in schools, just to name a few. What she was trying to say: The Civil War was not about slavery. It was about the right of the South to be free to practice capitalism by allowing white people to own black people. Nikki Haley was defending the white people in the South and their right to own black people as a form of capitalism and frerdom from government intervention. I hope that clears up her racist conservative views.

Capitalism is competition the same way that it’s a competition to play a game against someone who made up the rules of the game, based on items they already have and you don’t being instrumental to being competitive in the game they made up. She went to school in South Carolina; I did, too. What makes anyone think she learned anything about slavery other than the myth of the "happy darkie"? What I learned about the Civil War, growing up in the South, is apparently pretty different than other parts of the country, and I think for older generations like hers especially, and I don't think people around the country understand this.

How is that not considered government involvement?

You fail to cite slavery as a reason for the revolutionary war. Taxation without representation my eye. England outlawed the slave trade in 1803. The US didnt until 1861.

Why don't she repeat what she is on record saying about the civil war and slavery? Her lineage is recently from India. She has little interest in black American history. Claudine Gay's resignation is just another endless example how politics, business, religion and academia are inexplicably connected.
