Nikki is one of the lucky ones, so am I. Although he may have had the money to use as much as he wanted to he still experienced what every junkie does, total despair and hate for the drug that once made you feel on top of the world. I'm 53 and used smack for 17 years except I wasn't in a million dollar mansion while I was using, I was freezing behind a bar or in an empty house. I was lucky enough to have been able to keep a small portion of my mind and it led me to get clean with the help of my good friends. I have not touched a drug or a drink in over 10 years now. If you can start, you can stop. you just have to really want to and realize that lying to yourself is going to kill you.

Proud of you Farley Boy and proud of you too Randy Brady. I know of someone I love dearly shooting heroin. He started with pills then smoking heroin now shooting. He's in and out jail for petty crimes to support his addiction. We are devastated where he's heading. We decided not to keep enabling him,atealing from us,lying to us,we're ready to shun him out. He's been through hell and back but continues to do drugs. Hard to believe four years ago he was a good guy,a smart college grad with a great future,and handsome as hell. wtf does one do? I am so happy to know from you guys there's hope.

I read the book and I can relate to Nikki's paranoid psychotic behavior I went through it myself when doing drug. I had to be hospitalized because of a paranoid drug induced psychosis. When you do massive amounts to drugs it catches up to you. I've been clean for 20 years. Before I was 21 I saw did more crazy shit then most people in 10 lifetimes. Every day I wake up thankful I'm not dead or in prison.

He’s been selling the same fictitious story for 10 years. The guy is a photographer and takes pictures of everything. Why hasn’t he never shown the original diaries? Not one picture? They don’t exist. He never got beat back to life with a baseball bat either. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. When you shoot heroin you pass out... you don’t write in diaries. He didn’t even play his bass live on stage... he used pro tools which pissed me off. That’s not what I paid cash for. Almost every rock star on the planet had o’ded on drugs at one point at another... the difference they don’t try to sell the same book for 10 years.

He is proud because he thinks it makes him look cool. He’s a liar & a narcissist, & his claims of heroin addiction are greatly exaggerated. MC & Sixx were c.0ke fiends. He may have dabbled in heroin, but no way he was a major smack user who “just decided to stop” like he claims. NO WAY.

Man I feel as though his book is full of bullshit. Read it twice although I was on heroin/fentanyl at that time. I can relate much more personally to Scar Tissue. This man never had to grind or live on the streets or hardly even be dope sick. But everyone’s bottom is different I guess, feelings are the same. I still liked Scar tissue much more, plus I’m a huge chilis fan aswell though.

Addiction is the depths of hell. Getting clean is hell. Does not have to be heroin, simply someone's drug of choice. I think of addiction as possession of one's soul. Living in an indescribable void of absolutely nothingness. Not sure u can quite understand it until you've experienced it. Pray u never go there.

I would hate to think that someone would create a fictional account of drug addiction to stay relevant. I never looked for a pen when I was sick. I look for dope to get me well. And spent most of my time working to stay well. I’ve been around addict my whole life. Nikki was my rockstar hero. Now I see a business man. So I have doubts which has hurt my trust. But some money was donated to covenant house. Which I lived in the early to mid-80s behind port Authority in nyc where I’m from. I wish him luck and suggest.

No it didn't work out so good for Hendrix, John Bonham, Bon Scott... but it did wonders for Courtney Love, made all of her wildest dreams come true... It's sad but true that drugs, especially heroin, and the mental, emotional, psychological, physical torment and pain that comes with it is responsible for at least 75% of all the greatest music, bands, movies, paintings and works of art in general

@Allyson6C
@Allyson6C 8 лет назад
there really isn't one drug that is "better" or "more controllable" than another, not in the context of addiction. Addicts will generally have a drug of choice but that has nothing to do with control. Drug use is nothing more than a symptom of the disease of addiction. A person isn't under (better or more) control because they for example drink or do cocaine and out of control if it's say, heroin. A drug is a drug and a drug addict is a drug addict regardless of which drug they've chosen to use. The illness either exists in a person or it does not. The existence of addiction isn't dependent upon which drug they use. Addiction is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite the face of serious, negative or harmful consequences. So even if the drug(s) are taken out of the equation, that person is still an addict even after years of sobriety. That is because drug abuse actually changes the structure of the brain and how it works. It's like trying to change a pickle back into a cucumber - it can't be done. Once a person crosses that invisible line from drug use/abuse to drug addiction, you can't change him/her back to just a drug user because of the physiological(or mind-body-spirit) changes that have already taken place and the brain structure is now irreversibly altered. So it's not about which drug but about any and all drugs as they all can be used to the point of a debilitating addiction. It is very common too for an addict to replace one drug for another or have more than one drug of choice - not because one is or isn't more addicting, but because the person is still living within the throws of his own addiction. I hope this clarifies at least some of how addiction works and that even though all addicts have a "drug of choice" the addicted portion of the mind/body and the sick part of the spirit doesn't care what drug you're putting into it, a sort of chemical "frenzy" that occurs within the body no matter what drug it is. The chemistry in the brain doesn't differentiate between drugs (even though the person taking the drug can), the body's chemical reaction (aka frenzy) is the same no matter what drug is being taken. This description is part of the change in the brain structure that I spoke of before. I hope you find this to be useful.
@insight176
@insight176 8 лет назад
+Allyson Sixx Addiction is not a disease. I've been there myself, and I've been working with people who actually have a real disease. An addict always have a choice, unlike someone who's struck by let's say a motor neurone disease. With drugs you can relapse God knows how many times, but it's NOT a disease. I'm sorry, but I can argue about this forever.
@Allyson6C
@Allyson6C 8 лет назад
Mezza176 I respect what you think about the subject, but it's only those who don't truly know what happens physiologically in the body who believes as you do. It is usually those who have never been addicted or have not accepted their own that believe it is not a disease (perhaps uneducated?). Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain; they change its structure and how it works. Having been through an addiction and claiming it as a choice doesn't change the reality of what it is whether you're a believer or not. Once a person crosses that invisible line into addiction, that's it. You cannot change what has been permanently changed. It's like trying to change a pickle back into a cucumber -- it can't be done. Drugs literally change the structure of the brain which permanently changes the person physiologically. Everyone starts out with a choice on whether they're going to use a drug or not, but what happens within the body (not everyone's) is beyond a persons control. I can only suggest that you take your opinions and place them aside temporarily and give yourself the opportunity to learn about addiction. If it were a matter of "just stopping if they chose to" don't you think they wouldve done so prior to destroying their entire life? No one in their right mind is going to knowingly and willingly destroy their life and the life of everyone around them if they were sane, if they weren't sick. I too, could go on, however I will save it for my clients as I am a professional substance abuse counselor.

I was fortunate enough to absolutely hate heroin when I tried it. Some I’ve known weren’t so lucky and it ended bad. I’m glad he’s sober and doing well. I was like 8 yrs old the first time he overdosed and remember watching it on the news. Fucking crazy shit. I’m getting this book because his story and rise is an interesting one. Watch the movie about Motley Crüe, The Dirt. VERY interesting

He's a fool

Nikki's such an inspiration and has saved and changed a lot of lives with the proceeds from his book. That is such an amazing act of selflessness -- hats off to Nikki Sixx! He has made a difference in so many lives --- the lives of people that are our future. That's huge. He opened up doors to kids with nowhere else to turn, he gave hope to the hopeless and helped to provide many with a future that otherwise wouldn't have been available to them. Most of these kids would have ended up in jail, rehab or dead. So, that said, I really want to believe that you aren't this narrow-minded and rigid to actually believe Nikki is "a fool" (as you put it). However it's pretty clear who the fool is here.

Nikki Sixx's lyrics are a key element to the Crue, and he penned almost all of them. What made Motley different from so many of the fake hair bands that followed them is that they didn't just write about booze, cars and chicks. For every song like "Girls, Girls, Girls," there's a song like "Wild Side" (which has lyrics that even Dylan would be proud of). For every song like "Ten Seconds To Love," there's "Primal Scream." For every tune like "Rattlesnake Shake," there's a song like "Danger." They wrote about serious subjects in their songs, along with party lyrics. The lyrics came from the street, and the street isn't just booze, cars and chicks.
