Rowland was one of those guitar players you recognise from the first note. You can’t fake that level of intensity & emotion.

Pretty much anything these two geniuses did passed by without much notice back in the day. Nevertheless, Kiss You Kidnapped Charabanc is one of the finest albums ever recorded. I go back to it often. The Augsburg concert is simply non pareil. It's like Neil Young, but as if the guitars could crumble into dust at any moment. Powerful, but broken and fragile at the same moment.

I was there - great gig! .. Sudden often visited Augsburg/Southern Bavaria in these days ... he once said, "Augsburg is like I always imagined Germany to be" ;-)

The opening song here is so much better than the studio version which is ruined by the cymbals. It's also very reminiscent of 'Lovesong' by The Cure, which of course was recorded a year or two later. I think I know what Robert Smith was listening to during those sessions!
