I had one in the 90’s i didn’t like the clear nose so i took nose apart and painted the inside then i put window screen mesh around dive prop case to keep weeds from getting caught in dive prop back then i was limited in what i could find to make the mods I wanted technology wise like a waterproof receiver , speed control to make it faster and a bright blinking light to see where it was going in murky pond water and other things if i could come across one today I would make those mods and more
@@jeffropage672 Not original. If you look at the last still image in my movie you can see my seal. Its a disc of 2mm white PVC glued to a 6mm length of 70mm OD PVC pipe to make like a 'top hat' shape. Around the outer edge is a silicone ring. It fits inside the battery area, not around it like the original. I'd like to have a second Nikko sub.
Nice underwater shots! I had one when they first came out. Only above ground pool action though. Good to see them still up and running in a few peoples videos, cheers!
@@paulnoonan4715 If you still have your submarine. Can you tell me the output voltage of the charger unit? I can get a sub but it doesn't have the charger.
Glad to see someone keeping these old boats running! 👍😄 Curious, where did you get the components for the new seal? And the replacement screw? (Propeller) Working on restoring one myself! 🙂 ⚓ Run Silent, Run Deep! ⚓ 😉
Hey Rowdy. I made the seal out of pieces of PVC stormwater fittings I bought at the hardware store. They were turned down to size on a small lathe, glued with plumbers glue then I put silicon in the right spot to make my own O-ring on the PVC base. With the prop/screw I 3d printed a lump of PETG plastic that was roughly the right shape for the missing part, glued it onto the remains of the old screw and then hand filed it to shape. Cheers
you mention making a new type of battery compartment seal- do you have any pic, or description of process. I just acquired a sub and the only issue appears to be the seal. Does any one have a manual they could post for this sub?
Great video. I have a black hull version that is practically in mint condition. The motors run, but the diving prop starts running when I turn on the transmitter. I can’t figure out why. Any ideas?
I have been looking at these for decades on ebay. These seem like the only toy grade sub that isnt complete garbage. I have always wondered how the dive function on these work. It it balast based? It seems like yours performs really well.
It is a very well made toy grade sub. Diving is possible because the sub has a second propeller (which faces downward) underneath it which can accept big washers to adjust trim (neutral bouyancy). So you drive it down then give short bursts of down thrust to keep it down. Nikko did very well !
