There are more things about photography than softness of the lenses. You reduce your life to small world. I am more of capturing the moments, memories, environment, etc. Photography is my personal appreciation and happiness. No photo has devoid of softness in the whole area. In this lense

Lens has nanocoating but I still saw several ugly flares in the photos in this video. It seems more difficult to get them with 20mm f1.8G, which I own. I am still considering this 16-35mm lens.

When he states that this was the sharpest ultra wide zoom out there this must be an older video. The Nikon 14-24 blows this lens out of the water, I'm even a Nikon user but I ended up saving $1000 and got the new Tamron 15-30 f2.8.VR Not one complaint with that lens at all.

the 14-24 is sharper than the 16-35 at focal length 16-20, from focal 20-24, this lens blows the 14-24 f2.8g out of the water...plus that VR is great, i handhold shots as well at 1/2sec and get something sharp at the 16mm focal length..

I'm thinking of getting this or the Tamron 15-30 2.8 the thing that is pushing me to this lens is the fact you can put a filter on it. Sure you can with the Tamron but you need third party adapters to do so. Hmmmm....

deltafit True about the filters. I had to choose between the Nikon 14-24 and the new Tamron 15-30 and ended up going with the Tamron, saved $1000 in the process :-) I knew in advance if I was going to use filters for my landscapes it will be a couple of hundred for the Lee filter system or equivalent. The Tamron I think is sharper & faster than the Nikon 16-35

Wayne Carter There's also a Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 (www.adorama.com/NK1735AFSU.html) and a 14-24mm f/2.8 (www.adorama.com/NK1424AFSU.html) if that's more your speed.. :)

Dude this is not images :) This is ISO 12233 Chart to check sharpness of lenses. Lens are soft check for yourself.

Use little arrow in the middle to change from one lens to another you will be shocked how soft nikon are.
