Agreed. the 70-200 is one of those lenses when you use it, it can produce an amazing image. Thank you Steve and glad you enjoyed the video. More to come. :)
Hey great segment! Of course she rocked on the violin but I thought the black and white shot was amazing and I really like the couple dancing in the background that came out good too. Thanks for taking us along, and you know I enjoyed your 30-year history that you put out last week that was excellent! Dude you've been doing this since you were 11 another gig under your belt. If you find out who she was I know she'd love those shots.
Thank you Mike. This was a fun gig. Allot of food music and dancing. Glad you enjoy these videos. I have a blast making them for you guys. Rock n Roll!!!!
Nice video of the 70-200mm 2.8G VRII lens. It sure take great pictures, nice depth of field, bokeh and sharpness of the image. The Violenist is really good, seeing from the way she move and still carry the notes is what only the professionals can do. Great photos and video Vahagn.
THank you A L. Yah she was great and a true professional. Really enjoyed taking these shots. Great lens great subject,. good light. makes for a fun time.
She is Amazing! The photographs are beautiful too! Thanks for sharing, it was the first 70-200 I was truly happy with, thanks for sharing your experiences 😀
Thank you Oliver. Glad you liked them. Yes she was great. fun to photograph. When it comes to music, good music, It motivates me to try my best. hehe. Rock n Roll!!!
The B&W image starting at 5:04 is outstanding -- especially the composition. Images like this make me want to come back and look again. Insects and flowers, not so much. Great video of a very talented musician. Thank you for sharing. 👍
Thank you Glenn. Glad you enjoyed this video. On my spare time at gigs this is what I end up doing, taking shots of others, sharing the love of photography with them, they might appreciate it and think of me on the next job.
WoW! Nicely done. I am old school with old lenses. Still using the 80-200 D f/2.8 a heavy beast no VR but man it puts out great images. I think the 70-200 G f/2.8 would be lighter and with the VR be an upgrade but not now.
Great music, beautiful photos, and looks like a great event. There are so many of the 70/80-200 2.8 lenses out there, and I appreciate seeing the VR II. I have the VR (or VR I if you prefer) which I love, but am now moving to the Tamron G2 version. This lens is such a workhorse: portraits, events, weddings, wildlife, sports, and even landscapes in certain places (sunsets etc.). Older 80-200 2.8 versions are so affordable that it's hard to imagine any photographer not having some flavor of this lens.
@@konradkoeppe2840 I'd love to try that pair. I have a D7100, and while I realize it's not the same thing, I'd imagine it's fantastic paired with the D7500!
Hi Charles, You nailed it, A workhorse indeed that never fails. Thanks again for the kind positive words. The event was a joy to witness and photograph. As a photograph that's all you can ask for, great people, fun times and things to shoot.
You are very welcome. I saw one online for a dirt cheap price the other day. It was hard to believe. Yes great lens. I would reccomend this beauty to anyone.
Being a former user of this lens as well as the FL version, and now the Z one for the mirrorless Z6II, I can truly say that the VRII has the most pleasant rendering. The northrups bashed this lens for its focus breathing issues, putting that aside it is a great lens
Great comment here. THank you Pedro. Interesting that you mention the other 2 lenses, wich are amazing aswell. well they have to be, they are the newer versions of this lens. but your comment about this lens just solidifies my decision to keep this lens and not upgrade for now. Thank you, ohh and btw sure many people trash this lens, thats fine. I will just keep getting results like this while others bash it. thats fine. :)
@@Vahagraphy I never miss your videos, your channel is amazing for us Nikon enthusiasts as well as for the great tips and photography content. greetings from the Dominican Republic
If you're talking about the E vs G and Canon comparison video Tony did - I didn't really take that as "bashing" the other lenses - I saw it more of promoting the changes (improvements?) of the FL lens (if I'm looking at the wrong video, please let me know). If you had said the "angry guy" or "big hair" then I'd have not really thought about it, but AFAIK, Tony and Chelsea have always seemed pretty fair to all sides. Others have mentioned the "focus breathing" issues, and some may care about that (I don't). I've always felt that if that 2%-5% extra zoom at 200mm is critical to a person, then they should be looking at something that tops out at 300mm to 400mm rather than depending on the 200 (just IMO) I do value your point about the "most pleasant rendering", and I'll certainly consider a VR II purchase perhaps for next spring.
@@charlesdavis6371 That's the video I was talking about, now that I think about it the wrod ''bashing'' is not the right term, the video is quite fair fir all lenses as you said. The FL ED version is lighter, sharper and handles the focus breathing issue pretty well, the Z version is a tad better than the FL ED. renderingwise I prever the VRII.
Thanks for the video Vahagn! I would love to get your opinion about this lens paired up with my D6. I just bought the latest 24-70mm along with a D6 after having out of focus shots with a D4 and the previous version of the 24-70mm. For years this combo worked great. Once I tried out my new D6 with my new 24-70mm I was blown away with how fast the lens focused and the clarity of the photos. With Nikon offering fire sales on their the latest 70-200mm DSLR lenses and camera bodies it's obvious they are wanting to get rid of these lenses lenses in favor of their Z series lenses. I'm not quite ready to jump into the Z9 era as video is not a big deal for me. I do see myself venturing into the Z9 series once they catch up with Sony & Canon with their AI focusing. My question...how well will the current 70-200mm DSLR lens work with the Z9 camera? Thanks...
I enjoyed your video, if you were hired for an event, always look for opportunities to do good photography. By the way, if you make a video about shooting against the sun I bet it will be a home run. thanks
Great video and pictures Vahagn. I lucked up/came across a VR II version in excellent condition and a price I couldn't turn down after a long time of debating if I should go for the VR II, or VR III. It's paired with my D780 and I'll say, the images the two create are really crisp. At a max zoom, all the meta data shows 200mm.
Awesome. this lens is awesome. Anyone that talks crap about it just doesn't know what they talk about. Focus breathing sure, but not a deal breaker. still can get nice shots.
@@Vahagraphy that's not a deal breaker to me either. I took a lot of shots zoomed in at 200mm and all the Metadata shows that. Maybe I got lucky and bought a true 70-200mm VR II.
Nice video Vahagn - I really liked the video clips (and photos) of the violinist. I am curious how you captured the audio when she was playing? it sounded really good.
Great review of the lens! it was helpful. another thing I want to know not related to the lens.. what are the music in the end of the video? what language?
@@Vahagraphy Armanians and Arabs looks similar! Weddings are the same too ^^ I am Arab but I listen to Armanian music aslo. Yes please tell me the singer name. Thanks
I also have this lens, the color bokeh and sharpness are amazingly good, but there is a little problem when placing the focus point, sometimes it stops and doesn't move, I've tried changing the focus area to small or large it helps a lot but it's not always right. any other suggestions? greetings rock n roll ... 👍👍👍 for all your videos,
Thank you West wood. Glad you enjoying these videos. I usually use all my DSLR's on single focus point chooing the location my self. but all in all this VRII is a great lens. I want the 70-200mm Z , I will get it. deciding on wether to sell this one.
Very nice shots! The rendering is beautiful and the areas in focus are tack sharp. I have been split between paying more for the E version of this lens and the less expensive G version. Has anyone tried them both? The difference in price (at least in my area) is marginal so I don't mind the extra money if I get even better performance, otherwise, I'd get the G version and save some while at it. Loved the look. On a side note, the violinist was playing Katyusha which is a Soviet song, you can find a beautiful version on RU-vid performed by the Red Army Choir and I'm almost certain this was an Armenian wedding, nice tunes there too!
Thank you Yamen. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes this was an armenian event. As far as the lenses go. If you can get the new one, by all means get that one. I believe its a true 200mm , and a fe other better features . I have never used the 3rd Gen lens however heard good things about it. Im happy with the vrii for now. might get the 2.8 Z in the future for the mirrorless system. We shall see.
@@kaminobatto I just want to add, yes the 70-200 E Fl has many upgrades, flourine elements, faster focus, punchier image, better vr. buttons on the lens , i guess used for focus. but it will cost another probably 800 dollars more. You can find the vrii for about 1100-1200 on the used market, maybe less.
Be honest bro, If you couldn't afford the 70-200 Z lens, would this lens with the FTZII on a Z6II perform well in sports? I know the Z lens would be tops, but would it pperform as well on the Z6 as it would on a D850 or D5?
Well first of all. not long enough for sports. and no, it will not perform as well. The Z version blows it away in almost every aspect. But for DSLR cameras. sure. I'd use this lens. I like the bokeh and like the fact it does not have that swirly bokeh. It's suited me well over the years and I still have it. Great lens.
