Nikon B700 vs Nikon P900 - Does 4K OUTWEIGH the 2000mm Lens? 

My condolences to Matt's family. His style was quite different to mine, but he was always very willing to answer questions, and helped quite a few people. His first video was uploaded on 2 Aug 2010 and he made a total of 2209 videos, with to date over 33 million views. Quite an achievement and I know first hand how much time that can take up. Persistence wasn't lacking with Matt . Very sad to hear this terrible news rest easy and in peace.

As much as I didn’t want to believe it, I did some research and Matt did indeed pass away on November 17, 2018. The obituary said he passed peacefully at his home in Woodstock. I watched his videos religiously and always looked forward to his new content. RIP Matt. You will be dearly missed.

I knew Matt was struggling with some recent family issues but had no idea it was that tough for him. I'm sure no one could have expected this outcome. This community of photographers here on RU-vid is a great community and I have personally seen what they can do in hard times. We miss you Matt and that friendly silky voice. We have communicated and you even did a video based on a comment/question I had once, something I will always remember and honor. It took me little over a year to address this but you were one of the good guys in the photo community, trust worthy, unbiased and fair... something that is quite rare now days. I really wished there was something we could have done but understandably this was a seriously personal and private thing. R.I.P. Cannot believe this news. I have followed this channel for a long time and thought that it was taking a break, gutted and extremely sad, some of my photography choices have been as a direct result of Matt's recommendations. RIP 😥📷

I miss hearing your intro and I always appreciated that you read so many emails and gave the best balanced opinion when answering them. Oh my goodness. I had no idea Matt passed away. I was just thinking his channel was quiet so I came here to make sure I hadn’t missed his uploads only to see he passed. What a terrible, terrible thing. Matt was a great source of info, I didn’t know him on a personal level but he seems to be a really nice guy. I’m so sad for his family.

You set in front of that mic and answered questions from your audience. 2 of those questions you answered was mine and I was so excited for you to tackle my questions or comments on your videos. I would come home from work a lot of times and see what new videos you currently had on your feed. You will be missed by me and many others. I don't have a clue of what you was going through to end your life, but I will say that you and your channel was a blessing to me and many others. Rest in peace Matt. Hi, I have a nikon d5100 which I Purchased 6 years back. Only used for personal use. Shutter count is 12000. Primarily used for photography and my youtube video shoot at home. Do I need to upgrade the body or invest in lense. Already have kit lens 18-55 and 35 mm prime.

Just heard of Matts passing, I am floored and saddened. I spent many an hour watching his vids looking for information and ideas about camera gear. How many of us sat in front of our monitors with coffee in hand on a weekend afternoon watching his videos? He was one of my regular channels I always went to when a new camera or lens dropped. I am truly saddened right now. My thoughts go out to his family and I hope they can ultimately find peace in his passing. For the RU-vid community we have all last a friend.

2 weeks ago I went into the Fuji system. And I did it partially based on his now 3-4 year-old recommendations. Still miss his daily videos, youtube is not the same for me since his death.

I only found out yesterday of this really sad news. I have watched some of Matt's videos over the last two years when I was trying to decide on my first DSLR and you my friend helped me decide on the Canon 80D when I couldn't even decide on whether to go for Canon or Nikon. Matt was the friend of mine that I never had the chance to meet as I saw it. I invited him into my house every week, year after year as I watched his videos. I credit him to helping me shape my hobby and career as a photographer. I loved playing with the family 110 Kodak catridge camera as a child and borrowed old broken 35 mm film cameras from my dad that he had gotten free from coworkers who were tossing them away. I was facinated by the inner workings of the optics and how they captured moments of life and relayed them to film. I had several Canon and Nikon point and shoots as time went on. I made my first few dollars from shooting a friend's wedding with a little p&s! I then was given my first 2MP digital camera to play with by a fellow friend of mine who was also interested in the art. My first DSLR I bought was the Nikon D5000 and I decided I would make a little side business with it. I even had the opportunity to shoot a number of celebrities in Hollywood on the Chinese Theater red carpet with this little camera. I upgraded to the D7200 and Matt influenced me on the ideal lens picks to upgrade to beyond the kit lenses for this camera and I eventually and amazingly made a full time living shooting with this wonderful crop camera! I have since graduated to a Nikon D810 shooting in studios for Cowgirl Kim, and lifestyle shoots for national magazines such as Cowboys and Indians Magazine and local photojornalism papers and Magazines such as the Kerrville Daily Times and Southern Living. I also purchased Matt's much-loved 24-120 mm f4 fx lens in part because he convinced me that is a great walk around lens to use when there is moderate ambient light and great quality for the price. His down-to-earth sensibility was very attractive to me and I will miss his visits very much. His wife and kids are in my heart and thoughts. God speed my friend. -G

I know how to use a camera since I have used my friends for a while so I thought that buying a full frame might be better for me. What do you think is best and what cameras do you recommend. so sorry to hear about matt and his struggle, another good man lost. he helped me make loads of filming decisions over the years, via art of the image..RIP i feel for you.

I have the b700 about for a year now and i am really love this 1440 mm equivalent zoomrange. For me I can't be without raw. I have a sony a7 mark 2 with 24-70mm g series lens and this nikon b700. I use both of them but in different styles. I use the nikon to shoot birds and animals and i also use this for macro because with some macro filter lens on it the results is amazing. And I use the sony to shoot some night photos, portraits, enterior and street photos. The only problem with the nikon which the sony is solve the small sensor size. Unfortunately the 1/2,3 size sensor in low light is not enought if you want to use a highter ISO number.
