Thanks Didier for taking the time and making such informative videos. I am an amateur photo shooter and while I have a collection of SLR and DSLR gear of ALL brands, I also did dip into a crop Fuji mirrorless, the most modern being the X-T30. Nikon wise D3X is the highest body I own and love using it. If you could share some experience in your video about this model I'd surely want to see it. Thanks.
Hi Didier, thank you for making this video. When shooting when there's plenty of light, do you notice a difference b/w D6 and D3S? I think where the D6 shines is shooting in very low light and not missing a shot in sports or wildlife photography. Also, the eye autofocus is a good improvement for moving subjects. But even a 10 year old Fuji mirorless that costs a lot less than the D6 does eye autofocus and costs much less than the used D6. If the D6 costs below 1,000 USD, I'd go for it. D3S and used Fuji mirrorless won't break the bank. I do appreciate your inputs though. I love your content.
@@RvSun thanks for your comment and your appreciation The D6 has much more than the low light capacity compared to the D3S. It’s so fast and improved in all perspectives but the D3S remains a very good camera. So good that I bought another after selling mine 🤣 Regarding the eye tracking, you have to take in consideration that it is a DSLR and not a mirror less camera. That’s why it’s so unique ! You have the brightness of an OVF with eye tracking.. Enjoy photography and stay tuned 😉

Thank you for this video. I was struggling to find out about the effectiveness of eye-af on this camera, and this seemed to answer it. It's a bummer that it isn't quite reliable enough for portraits, but still looks like impressive technology. I was hoping it would lock on with something like my 105 1.4e... A worthy upgrade from my D4s! Would love to hear your thoughts on that 28mm 1.4e (even though I have one. hah) or something retro like the Fujifilm S5 Pro Cheers
@@ericfore hello and thank you for your comment Don’t get me wrong, the eye tracking of the D6 is far superior to the Z6ii for instance. It identifies the eye and keep tracking it with surrounding AF points. Like a group of AF points centered on the eye. While photographing sport action it’s really reliable. Impressive technology.

Great choice!!! 😁 D3S and X were really designed for different applications and the communication at this moment was clear. Even if at the end the D3X didn’t find its market… too expensive But what an impressive sensor!!! I will be really pleased to work on this video…

Hello Nick! Nice to see you in the first place to write a message ! I’m not really an ultra wide angle guy. I had a 14-24 2.8 back in few years ago. I found it a little soft on the edges. I’ve also had a 16-35 f/4 VR which might have been a wrong copy as it was really soft. I recently put my hands on the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 VC that seems to be more consistent. But I don’t know the 17-45f/2.8. The best I have found is the Leica 16-35 SL … wide open it’s sharp every where without any flaws but it’s a f3.5-4.5
Yep! Apparently 2 cameras for opposite usages! The D5600 is so small it’s genius ! I don’t have DX lenses and I won’t invest in so I will test it with the best of the best FX lenses !!! It seems that it doesn’t work with ais manual lenses. Am I wrong ?

@@LtColDavenport Hi. Not at all. The D780 is the only Nikon DSLR that behaves as a mirror less once you activate live view. It has a double AF engine. One typical phase detect AF when using the mirror and the Optical View Finder. But it’s not as powerful as the D6 AF. It’s the same as the D750. And a phase detect AF on sensor as the Z6 and Z7 that allows far better behavior in Live View mode compared to any other Nikon DSLR, including the D6 which has only contrast AF in this case I don’t own a D780 but I’m really curious to get one as it’s a bit like the best of two worlds ! OVF which I prefer over EVF and good AF in Live view, all with F mount native glasses…
I don’t understand why you’d do this instead of a Z9. The D6 will be a great body forever, but it was obsolete on the assembly line. Nikon isn’t making F mount lenses any longer.
Because I’m that F mount guy 😉 It’s not because they are no longer built that they are crappy lenses !!! 28 1.4 105 1.4 200 f/2 Are unique and still don’t exist in the Z mount…

It works even better The fact is that I have another mirror less system and that for now I stay Nikon F DSLR and L mount Mirror less Maybe on day I will change for Nikon Mirror Less but I still don’t have this feeling and connection with the camera they sell in this field
Keep in mind that I’ve had a significant discount Moreover the D6 has a far superior ISO range than the Z9… and there is no discount on the Z range in contrary to the F mount… 😊
I try not to jump in the Z9 as I already have a mirror less system with the L mount … Otherwise I would need to sale my L mount system and I’m not ready to get rid of these Leica gems 💎

I've a ton of F mount glass that cost a fortune years ago and now paperweight money lol uggg The D6 does look good. Did you ever do video on your old D3s? It's a shame video on those Cameras not so good but I guess it's ten year old tech. It's the focus let's it down I don't care about the other stuff tbh

Buy well first and you will sell well later 😊 Never buy new. NEVER! never fall for end-of-life promotional offers. For instance, Leica is offering a discount on the SL2 and non APO lenses kit The SL2 is dead because the SL3 is coming soon and it was already technologically obsolete when it came out so now imagine. if you buy it new with the discount you can be sure you will loose money. I buy only the top of the range on the second hand market so I know I will always find someone who will be interested later
