I absolutely LOVE this series. Not only is it genius on its own, but you keep it informative -- its like an extremely aesthetically pleasing product review lol.
I love your videos Mate! You are doing great job for film photography big come back. I hope many people will drown to the dark side of the photography by you 😋 Keep shooting!
Hey Ed!! Beautiful shoot film, I'm absolutely loving the series! I was just wondering how you can just take people's photos with such confidence, keep up the great work!!
+Think Petrichor The one thing that gets you over the hump is carrying your camera everywhere, the bigger it is the better. Not in a camera bag (at this stage it's a crutch instead of your on body photo assistant) but on you, own the fact that you look a bit like a photographer and get over the whole imposter syndrome you get imposed on you from every direction that no sane human is supposed to attempt things that are aesthetic or cultural. People might give you a sideways glance but they might do that anyway, either because you might look funny that day, have an unusual shirt or just aren't from around where ever their here is. Once you get used to inhabiting your own space again there is no reason why you shouldn't be there, because you chose to be there just as much as anyone else. And if you are a touch shy to begin with that's all the more reason to fight back any stress your feeling about it because you started making images to add something not subtract from your life.
Yet another great video! I have a Nikon FM which is essentially the same camera with a slower maximum shutter speed. I am bidding on an FM2 on eBay. It's nice to have a few film cameras loaded with different films. Keep making these amazing videos! They are an inspiration!
I love & have watched all your vids my man! (this one twice!)..but that Nikon FM2 is YOU!...suits you well...some of my faves you have taken in this one. Cheers! Benjamin
Good stuff, love my FM2. . You should do a video with the Olympus Trip 35, it's a cheap camera, 40mm fixed lens and only 2 shutter speeds selected by the cameras selenium light meter, zone focusing only but I've taken some of my favourite street shots with it.
i have to say I like the way the film looks using Tri-X better that the leica m6 video with APX. You are very stealthy. What lens are you using 35 or 50mm?
Why don't you use a hood? Some pictures have poor contrast. Otherwise I really like your videos and keep them coming. Have you tested the Minolta XD-7?
Hey Eduardo great video again!! Two questions: in situation like that sun looks like quite strong with pretty defined shadow so with a trix 400 I imagine that you shooted at about 1/500 -f8-11 for subjects in light and f4 for subjects in shade (and equivalent exposures). Am I right? Moreover do you suggest an ASA 400 for that kind of situations with defined differences between shadow and light areas? Thanks
+Gianni Di Girolamo I shot at f1.8~5.6 with shutter speed at maximum speed. I was surprised to see how wide the Tri-X dynamic range was. I think it's a great film for situations like this, where very strong lights and dark shadows are combined.
Hello Eduardo, I own the FM2 (and other 35mm film camera's, like the Oly OM-1) too, like it very much. And shooted nice pictures in Spain last year. Anyway, will i use an asa 50 film (Ilford Panf 50)in that situation(sunny/lot of light)? And than aperture on 16 (sunny 16),or smaller. Okay, i know it's better to shoot during the golden hours; first hour sunlight of he day and last hour sunlight. But apart from that.
I think is good to shoot at any hour with any film in any situation! the sunny 16 rule is pretty useful, but you don't need to shoot at f/16, for it will all look pretty flat. I usually shoot with my lenses wide open (f/1.4, f/2 or f/4, depending on the lens). I say just follow the lightmeter and you'll be fine! :)
I like your composition. But, in my humble opinion, I feel you underexpose a bit in most of your shots, tri-x has decent exposure latitude. Shoot a roll with your meter set at 200 or 100, and you'll see what I mean. Great videos.
Me encanta como musicalizas tus vídeos. Me recuerda mucho a Birdman. Ya que estoy, me gustaría mucho que pruebes la Canon ft ql y que opines que te parece esa cámara en comparación con la Nikon fm2. Saludos desde Argentina.
what do you mean by "the camera itself"? the body only or the body + the lens? what renders the pictures are the lens and the film, so that's where the image's "look" is determined. the body of the camera is just a black box.
yeah, this is back when I had a flatbed scanner and the results straight out of it were not great. I now use a Pakon F135+ and the difference is impressive.
