Last night (December 23, 2018) The moon was gorgeous. So I decided to compare the P1000, P900 and the B700 by Nikon. And here's how it went.. I did it hand held...
I have a friend whose want to buy a camera to shot a moon. He's a moon lover actuallly and he loves to take pictures on moon. I suggest her this video to know what camera he need to buy. With b700 you can see strange objects. With p900 you can see that strange objects have windows. With p1000 you can see the green pilot . . . . . . . . With p10000 you can hear his thoughts
I had the b700 and now have the p1000. I think the b700 has better still pictures and can out reach the p900 if you crop the 4k video. The b700 is really good and small but the thing that sold me on the p1000 was the focus ring. It comes in handy shooting video. I would recommend the b700 over the p900 overall and if you really want that reach the p1000 is the one. The only thing I dont like about the p1000 besides still image quality is the size. Its massive compared to the b700.
Great comparison, had the Nikon B700 for a year now, awesome camera, bought the P1000 two weeks ago, and wish I had not now, the 900 would have been just as good and half the price probably. Long live the awesome B700.

I’ve found while filming with my P1000 the on a very cold night that the lens will sometimes fog up causing blurred focus problems, I just wipe it off.
i see a lot of criticism for the camera's operator for the shakiness, i didn't and i wouldn't ,instead i find it helpful for it makes people understand and prepare before going out with this camera and shoot the moon or planets without a tripod.

i have he b700 and the p900 ,not going to get the 1000,i got too much zoom as it is not counting that the sensors are all the same. the p900 seems maybe a bit better than the other two and lastly this was not a full moon but an almost full moon.thank you .
The p1000 obviously is the best at shooting the moon. But the p900 and p1000 are both quite large and not as handy. I have the B700 and am very pleased. It's half the size of the other two and does a great job at shooting the moon as well as everything else. I take it hiking with me, i would not enjoy lugging around the other two. B700 = jack of all trades.
Have you ever watched the waves go over the Moons surface? Catch it on video and post it. Have you ever watched all the objects flying over the Moons surface? Some have thrusters and all!!! Amazing to have tech for the average joe that just blows the mind!!
Shooting the full moon probably wasn't the best test since the features are flat and without shadows. Give it a try again when it isn't fully illuminated while using a sturdy tripod. You actually did pretty good handheld at that much magnification. I just ordered a refurbished B700 so I will give it a try myself when I can.
try this for yourself; spheres cannot reflect light, "full face" like this supposed spherical moon does. after your initial disgust with someone questioning your reality, you will soon see the truth
@@beachcomberfilms8615 That is not correct, I have the p1000 and you can choose Fine, Normal, Raw, Raw+F, Raw+Normal were you not able to find these under options I was able to locate and change to one of the 4.
P950 looks a good compromise between P900 and P1000? Shoots RAW all the goodies of the P1000 without the extra weight and weird centre of gravity of the P1000. ? Could you do a similar comparison using Saturn, Jupiter as targets please.
Hmm I think I like the P 900 the best. I only wish the P 900 had a hotshoe as I would like to get a DF-M1, it’s a red dot sight to help with tracking moving objects ( it was designed for the P1000) The P900 has no place to mount it.
Unfortunately you didn’t zoom all the way in with the p1000.You should be able to zoom in and see the individual craters on the moon.Next time due your research on the camera before you post a video
ive got the p900 and its just has good as the p1000, so i dont know why they brought out the p1000, its more expensive , heavy-er , power zoom only a bit better, just a waist of time
I am trying to decide on which to purchase. In all seriousness, what are the pros and cons between P900 and P1000, aside from cost alone (obviously). Help?
Give it a thought to try the new P950. I always had problems with the P1000 ocarrying around. Too bulky for my need.. The P950 is said to be a better option with very similar capabilities..
Without loading the comparative RAW files it is hard to determine which is the better performing machine. Remembering that the P1000 has a cellphone sized sensor ?
That's what is my opinion about the camera. It's priced at around $1000 or Rs 70K in India. In that budget, I have bought an advanced beginner DSLR, a 50mm prime lens, 18-55mm kit lens and 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens and still left with around $200 to spend on other accessories such as tripod, memory cards etc. $1000 was way beyond my budget as first time DSLR user. Finally we won't be using that big of a zoom all the time. A 450mm reach is more than enough for most of the time. What I lay most emphasis is the overall image quality which is sensor dependent and not on super zooming ability.
@@untoldasif6687 go for D3500 if you prefer Nikon or 1500D if you like canon. The prices will be around 25K and good enough for beginners. It's not advisable to buy an expensive camera at the beginning. You need to buy some lenses too. Buy in combo to save money. 18-55mm and 55-250 or 70-300mm combo is the best suitable for starting. Buying lenses separately will cost you nearly $100 extra later on.
LOLOLL..Great intro....Great setup for a test, and nice to see the B700 or other ultrazooms....And then he says I did the tests HANDHELD....LOLOLOLOL....GTFOH!!! Are you serious??? How are we supposed to lock in on a area and do some comparisons of the areas to see the differences??? WOW, What a FAIL!! And I got happy over NOTHING. Come on man!! And its supposed to be a 3000mm equal, not 300mm. And luckily we can pause the video, as the still shots DISAPPEAR as soon as you get to max zoom!. Either way, nice to see the video regardless. It did not help me, AT ALL, but its good to see people try.
@@photographyjapan it did , just a little. Great to see that you grow from this, as we all should. I hope you discover that tehre is no curve, and that boats do NOT go over the horizon. I was able to confirm this withthe P900.
I have the p1000 and the digital zoom is auto off when video in moon mode and pictures in moon mode it will only zoom to the max of the telescopic lens.
I went to Akihabara Japan to buy nikon p1000 today. The price of P1000 was about 1000USD. P900 was about 500USD. I'm still wondering which one is better.
@@robertwall1006 I have different view. Choice of camera always depends upon what kind of photography you are into. In 2015, I was considering P900 best among other bridge cameras. But I realized that I won't be using that much zoom all the time. I wanted better sensor to shoot noise free even in low light. Already I was having good quality point and shoot and knew about it's limitations. P900 has great lens, but in terms of sensor quality, it's far below the entry level dslr. Finally bought D5500 with few lenses and I'm happy with it. I rarely need that zoom since 460mm equivalent zoom is just enough for me. I can only think of P900 or P1000 for photographing the moon or distant island etc. Due to atmospheric haze, I can't use that terrific zoom all the year round.
It is starting getting on my nerves seeing video after video with people refusing to use tripod when shooting megazoom videos, with their object all over the place. Can anyone explain the rationale behind this decision, please? Because I'm out of every option I can think of. 🤷🏼♂️
@@photographyjapan You can pick a secondhand budget tripod for next to nothing on ebay. It's all about truly caring about your audience and offering them well prepared content instead of uploading shaky half-baked videos, thinking that this will do.
Ibo XP Have to admit P1000 is also better than my Nikon D7200 + Sigma TC-2001 (new 2x teleconverter) + Sigma 150-600mm Sport. A bit depressing really, given the prices.

B700 is well built, easy to use, zoom lever on the barrel is very nice to have (like lumix FZ300 and canon sx70), a bit too slow software, only one (slow) zoom speed, no possibility to disable auto rotating image on the screen when flipping it, poor picture and video quality if compared with Lumix FZ80. It's 4K video is just upscaled Fullhd, no native resolution.
@@photographyjapan FZ80 is better than B700 in pictures and video but lacking the flip or rotating screen in unacceptable and the major con. 4K video is good but only up to 600 mm (half zoom), beyond that the image becomes blurry and very very shaky, vawing and deformed which is utterly unusable.

With My SX70 i use C1 With Manual Focus set to INFINITY. So all is sharp. ISO 100, C-RAW FORMAT CR2 and selftimer. Of course with tripod. One snappy shot to see the preset for Exposure . Good LUCK
