Bro me too hahaha. My z6 LCD stopped working lol. (Evf still works though)So I was pushed into a corner. Had to get a z8. Definitely wasn't going for a z62. But I have no regrets! Love the z8

The substantial collateral long-term damage for Nikon is, that this way they had lost considerable market share, because many moved on to Sony or Canon during all those years when the Z6/Z7 iterations were too under-doggy. Isn't Nikon's market share / market relevance declining towards the 10% mark by now? That is what Pentax was during the DSLR heydays.

Already pre-ordered the Z6 III at my favorite photo store. The sales guy was quite astonished that i was about to order something for which he had no price. But I explained him that for my summer vacation, he got until 15th July to get me a cam. Simple deal, he gets me the cam at the MRSP on July 15th latest or deal is cancelled.

2:58 - PORN. I know this is a family channel, but the adult entertainment industry is using VR to drive the new wave of "immersive experience" content. While we can chuckle and joke about it, the matter of fact is the porn industry got it right with the self unpacking and installing apps, and online video the first time around (yeah it was not RU-vid which made video the star of the internet). Regardless of one's beliefs in morality and integrity and all that other high level verbiage, it makes business sense to enter the trend at the beginning. These lenses are off-the-shelf attachments for existing photo/video gear - unlike dedicated VR production dual camera rigs - great idea. Engineering and architecture sectors are already using VR for their sales and demos portfolios. Even though majority of it is computer generated graphics, it makes sense to add videos of real humans to be featured in VR worlds.

Feel like the gh7 thing is a very much photographers take. Most videographers/film makers don’t want ridiculous shallow depth of field, too hard to focus and they often don’t want the background completely blown out.

And you can get a shallow depth of field with the GH7 if you pair it with the right lens. That often involves using a prime lens, and using a higher mm lens and taking a few steps back.

I might move back to the GH series of cameras. I had lots of fun shooting with them previously, and I am starting to hate hiking with a huge lens. But I may see what this Z6III will offer before deciding my next system.

VR 180 is very cool indeed! I have a Quest 3 (getting a Vision Pro next month) and have been watching stereoscopic videos more and more the last weeks. Actually when you get used to it, there is - at least for some kind of videos (action, landscape, travel, etc.) no point in watching 2D videos anymore. VR 180 is so much more immersive. 2D is getting more and more boring. So really looking forward for new hardware to record stereoscopic. Just imagine Froknows presenting the news right here in my office. Would be awesome. Why don't you try it, Jared?

I wanna upgrade to Sony... But Wich one is the best bang for you buck? Rn I have a g85 but am enlisting In the army so I just figured I should up grade because I wanted to be able to capture greater detail.but didn't know Wich Sony camera I should shoose( I was leaning towards the Sony a7 III) great video by the way. Can't wait for the 76 3 video!!

A Sony A7iii would be a huge upgrade from the g85. You can pick up a used in excellent condition A7iii from MPB for cheap. The real question is what lenses you would get

Seconding A7 III used, perhaps with a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and you'll have a very versatile low-light monster. If you want even greater detail, the A7 IV with its 33 MP sensor is obviously going to deliver that, for considerably more bucks though.

Hi @froknowsphoto regarding the AF boxing situation. You can adjust the settings a3 to allow for obstructions. 😂 just pointing this out that thought the settings you can choose which camera performs better in that situation.

There are too many photographers who buy cameras in the $2k range who are ready to order a balanced hybrid Z6III. And there probably has not been enough time to make a camera with some RED DNA in it.

I have an original Z7 and the autofocusing usually does not annoy me just not taking action photos. Well until trying to take macros photos of insects on flowers etc. in the last few days. JFC it's so bad. Keep fighting the good fight..

Good morning, let me briefly share my experience with you. I have always been a user of Nikon cameras. These are reliable and well-built cameras, with an excellent screen and viewfinder. However, with the transition to mirrorless, I switched to Sony. Having also used the Nikon Z6II in a professional setting, I can say that the eye recognition autofocus and other features did not provide reliability for my work, and it must be admitted that it is not up to the competition. I am very satisfied with Sony, specifically with the Sony A7 IV and the R series... I will never go back! For me, it's simply a matter of equipment, meaning what I need is just reliability at work, quality, and a good feel.

Being a Z9 user, I'm admittedly much more interested in the beefy lens that Jared has attached to the Z6 III. It looks quite a bit like my 85mm f/1.2, but yet, not quite an exact match from that angle, and it's definitely nowhere near what my 50mm f/1.2 looks like, so might that be a new piece of fast glass heading our way, Jared? Jared?... Hmmm... Nobody's home. 😄

The only VR content I saw recently was at a museum where you had to wear the VR headset. The use of these is limited to specialty applications and users that like this tech. Not yet mainstream.

my predictions for the Z6iii price point of $2500-$2700. Nikon N-raw and or possibly a flavor of thr red raw codec optimized for the Z system. No prores raw . I think prores raw will be reserved for the Z8 and Z9 for now. Possibly prores raw output via HDMI or USB C direct to SSD drives. . 24MP sensor, 6k video at 60p 120p at 4k, possibly open gate and maybe support for anamorphic lenses (that something rumored to be coming future firmware updates for the z8 and z9. Will probably (hopefully ) use the EN-EL15c battery . Target demographic with will be people looking to get an entry level pro camera who cant afford a Z8, also Z8 and Z9 owners who want a good backup body

@@tonyferrell3456 I'm a Canon shooter lol I've been eyeing Nikon and Sony though due to the 3rd party options. It would be nice if they put two of the same cards slots in the camera. CFexpress would be nicer due to the faster speeds. I use my mech shutter on my r6 all the time rolling shutter is no fun.

What else does someone want? Yes, nobody can do anything without the camera gear, and the camera gear is so capable that it typically can do more than we want or need. For many, a rebodied Zf is a good enough reason for it to exist.

@@garlandedmonds1822 possibly deliberately cripple-hammered, so that the Z6III will not cannibalize the much more profitable sales of the Z8. Because the Z8/Z9 AF fares below Canon/Sony, let's assume that also the Z6 III will correspondingly also fare below a similarly priced Canon/Sony.

The Z6III should be able to do 6K30, UHD but not DCI. The AF will probably be 80-90% of the Z8, losing a little bit because of the BSI sensor instead of the stacked sensor. But definitely a big step above the Z6II/Z7II. Two features from the Panasonic S5II/S5IIX would be cool: open gate and recording to a USB SSD. Release price of $2200-2500 USD.

@UnconventionalReasoning Nikon has never been video first unlike Panasonic, Z6III what I see would he a hybrid photo first camera which could be a backup to Z8/Z9 while being independently good enough. DCI or 6K isn't viable, they don't want to kill Z8, while BSI has been a long thing in Nikon, Stacked is reserved again for Z8/Z9. They will make a baby Z8 with new upgrades. Z8 is a hot seller now with the new lenses and updates.

M43 catches a lil too much shit IMO. As long as there is apsc m43 will have a place. Also, getting pro grade cameras with all the latest features and lenses for way cheaper on the used market is perfect for budget kits. Depth of field is nice, but I’ve been perfectly happy with the bokeh on my GH5. Bokeh is also not the only factor to a cameras quality. I’d like to see Jared give M43 another crack. Love the channel brother

I get plenty shallow depth of field with my 60mm F0.95 MFT lens. With the 2x crop and 2x dof conversion it is like using a full frame 120mm F2.

It better have an expeed 7 or faster. And 10 bit internal. What will make it accessible to end of with, is the price tag, cause currently nikon video camera's are wayyy too expensive, even compared to the r8 or canon alternatives. good autofocus on nikon mirrorless is too pricey, even though i shoot nikon

I bet the Z6 III will have a 24mp full frame sensor and the same processor as the Z8. It will have a half curtain shutter, which will be 15 fps. If you shoot with only the electric shutter, you will get 30 fps.
