Breathtaking light scenes, wonderful flight images in a series: THANK YOU for this video, which helped me personally to decide on the Nikon Z6 III. I'm currently still taking photos and filming (!) with the Nikon D4s. I'm happy to subscribe your channel.

Dear Gerd - thank you for your nice words and signing up for the channel. More content on the Z6 III will follow this weekend. The D4s is a legendary camera. However, I am sure you will appreciate the Z6 III. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. Cheers Michael

@@DynNat Northern Germany has the superpower that it is beautiful despite the terrible weather. 😂❄️☀️⚡️

@@Granatapfel_G Without that terrible weather we would have less fog, changing clouds, and more boring light conditions ! Good luck that the camera gear is so well weather sealed nowadays !

Very interesting. Do you use subject recognition (i.e. "animal") for best tracking? I would really hesitate between Z8 and Z6 III for birding, because I also use my camera for general purpose (landscape, travel...). Z8 seems more versatile, but much heavier and more expensive.
@DynNat
@DynNat 2 месяца назад
Hi, I was using animal detection which was working very well. For travel it is really great as it is small. For landscape it depends on your composition. I will do a dedicated landscape video soon (currently on travel for this) and compare the Z6 III versus the Z9 (which has the same sensor than the Z8). So stay tuned. My lens recommendation for your application would be the Z 24-120 F/4 and the Z 180-600.

@@DynNat Hi, thanks for your answer. That's exactly the lenses I was spotting, they will ideally complement my F-mount ones. So I will look to your further videos to make my mind between Z6 III and Z8. Cheers.

Thank you for sharing you experience with camera. I have one question. You wrote you "miss bird AF detection for dragonflies" - but dragonfly is and an insect not a bird. Does is work also for insects? What is advantage of bird AF over animal AF in Z9? I am doing wildlife video with Z6 - often in low light (owls are my favourite) and consider switch to Z6III or Z8.
@DynNat
@DynNat Месяц назад
Yes my experience also with my most recent video (Nikon Z6 III in low light) is that the animal focus mode of the Z6 III is working very good. I have no complaints on general animals and birds in low light. My success rate with the Z6 III is slightly less than with the Z9 but it captures also long necked birds very well. The bird mode of the Z9 / Z8 also identifies dragonflies (very often) - see the video "The Dragonfly Challenge". The Z6 III animal mode does not recognize dragonflies. At high ISO's the video and photography mode of the Z6 III gives better results than the Z8/Z9. So if you do not need crop I think the Z6 III would be your camera. (but have a look here - Nikon Z6 III in low light - I was photographing about 40 min after sunset and I had in the end of the day a cloudy sunset) Cheers Michael

Well done. The Z 180-600mm + tc worked well.

For sure it did. I think it was super snappy on the Z6 III. These ducks are fast when they are flying directly towards you and I had always focus. Considering that it was F/9 I was very positively surprised.

Hab mich dann irgendwie dagegen entschieden ... Hoffe es passt trotzdem ! LG

why does Nikon don’t make budget mirrorless cameras with decent eye detection ? The Nikon z5, z6, z7 has bad autofocus while the z8 and z9 has better but they cost A lot, even the Nikon z6 iii have a decent autofocus but it cost 2,5k dollars, I want Nikon to make a aps-c 24.5 megapixel with decent eye autofocus or more. But the Nikon z50 doesn’t even have eye tracking why is it like that?? Even the canon r7 1,2k euro and it has a aps-c with 30 megapixel it has a VERY VERY good eye focus especially birds in flight, it can do that same as the Nikon z8 or z9. while Nikon don’t even have budget camera to do those things.

I do not know. I am not Nikon. I had the Z 50, Z6 and Z6II - I did like these cameras. Since I do not own and Sony or Canon gear I cannot comment on them. My assumption is that the APS-C etc. lower cost models need to wait until Nikon comes up with a modified Z9 / Z8 to discriminate the "high cost" models against the cheaper entry models. Just a guess !!
