It's about time SmallRig made a cage that allows you to keep your neck strap on the camera! I don't want to have to hold the camera in my hands in-between shooting.

True but I think u can attach it to a strap and it’s a cage - so made more for video than run and gun shooting.

Small rig for the Z8 is Awesome! That side handle and the top handle, Rock, SOOOoo much easier to carry and handle the camera, and not just for video, it also works well for Shooting stills!

Great video Ralph! Is it easy to remove the camera when you want to use it for plain photography? Do you have to pull all of the accessories off (handles, mic, etc) before you can remove the camera?

Have you discovered the 10 pin remote cable will not fit on the Z8 with Smallrig cage mounted on the Z8?

It may be a bit snug yes. I wouldn’t use the cable with the cage though. Mainly use it for video. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I honestly can not fault my small rig gear. I am that used to a cage now, if i remove it for some stupid reason it feels so weird.

I have the cage for my z8 as well. However I thought it would work as a L-Bracket as well. I guess I need another plate to do that?

You can solve that by outing a base plate on the side of it. You’re right though it wouldn’t take much to build in a side groove as well 🤷🏼‍♂️

That is the connection under the rubber cover on the front of the Z8. It is for using a remote either wired or wireless.@@RalphMayhewPhotography

@@raysanders332 That's the one thing I hate about this cage, I can't fit my MC30A cable in there. Of course, the Z8 has great self timer options but sometimes the remote cable is nice...
