My favorite love story in sitcom history. The slow build was sooo effective. I still remember the chills I had in the season 7 finale when they finally got together.
DHP is an incredible actor. The man is gay in real life but as Niles he was madly in love and attracted to a beautiful woman and made it believable. Kudos, DHP.
Someone who is gay and playing the part of a straight person is “acting”. Acting that is incredible is appreciated without a reference to partner preference. The performance as an onion was incredible because the actor is a … fruit
They’re is a genuine love between the two actors on a friendship level. In fact he’s even the godfather of one of her children. Some people just have chemistry even if there is no actual sexual attraction.
The thing about that episode is that I’m sure that was where Daphne first developed feelings for Niles. Remember that she is working class, while he is upper class. She most likely assumed that between his wealth and the fact that he was married, then going through a painful divorce, he’d never go for someone like her in a million years, so she was certain that he was acting when he said ‘I adore you’. And while “playing along,” she actually said how she really felt.
It’s debatable when exactly Daphne started to have feelings for Niles, but I think the fact that she so easily came around to being in love with him after learning his feelings indicates that she was in love with him long before she knew it. Or perhaps she did know she was crushing on him but assumed he would never reciprocate because, in her mind, he’d never go for a working class woman like her. Plus he was married in the earlier seasons, so that was a barrier. But the dance episode, my favorite of the whole show, is really thought-provoking. She committed to the tango so passionately that I think deep down she was indulging herself in what she thought was a mere hopeless fantasy with him, but was so sure that she wasn’t good enough for him that she immediately assumed he was acting when he said “I adore you.” But she said “I adore you too” with such fervor that I’m certain she meant it, whether she knew it or not.
I think it's early on, even in the glockenspiel scene she's obviously attracted to him. He's a sweet, smart, and handsome man, but she probably pushed it down due to him being married then even probably convinced herself it was just her wanting what she couldn't have
This show had the best writers, creators, actors. They took Niles and Daphne, the most unlikely couple ever, and led them into becoming the sweetest, best couple ever. Magical.
Ross and Rachel were a very unhealthy relationship. She was narcissistic, he jealous and controlling. Chandler and Monica were much many more of a team.
Totally unbelievable. At least Ross and Rachel had some semblance of credibility. Niles was a spineless, neurotic man and Daphne was an outspoken, strong-willed woman who wasn't afraid to go after whatever she wanted, which is more than can be said about Niles. Smelling Daphne's hair behind her back. That's creepy!
At 28:28, it's such an intimate moment when Niles puts his coat around Daphane's shoulders. She's full of dread, half desiring to hear Niles telling her he loves her and then she's enveloped by his coat which would be warm from his body heat and scented with his cologne, not to mention his gentlemanly consideration, kindness and sacrifice.
I will never forget the time that Niles brought a necklace for his wife at the time Maris the Heiress. And he let Daphne try it on and it slipped down her down her blouse and Frasier comes through the door. And say's to " Niles what are you doing?" Daphne says " Dr. Crane Niles was just letting me try on the necklace and it slipped down me blouse!" You should have seen the look on Frasier's face! What a great show!
I adore this love story. I got inlove with the ability of Niles to love as he did. The writers did knew how to write one of the best - if not the best - sitcom love story. And the actors? They made it 100% real. Fantastic.
I'm glad the writers didn't do the old cliche were Frasier ending up with Daphne. As much as I enjoyed watching Niles pining over Daphne. Sometimes it got annoying because he couldn't find his backbone. But, my favorite moment was in season 8 episode 4. He stood up to Mel.
I have to say, creepy aspects of watching/pining/outright smelling Daphne aside, I can see why Niles fell so hard. Maris was cold, neglectful, emotionally abusive and dismissive of his feelings. He made excuses and rationalized her behavior, but deep down he really wanted and needed warmth and friendship from a partner. Daphne was the polar opposite of Maris and he was able to be close to her as a friend, if nothing more, for years.
Those “creepy” aspects are admittedly things we all do when we have a crush on someone. Being around someone one secretly likes always makes one into a total idiot.
He wasn’t really creepy about it, in fact he was so discreet that she literally had no idea about his feelings for years until Fraiser told her about it
What an incredible dress on an extremely gorgeous woman!! Jane Leeves is the main reason I watched "Frasier." I've had a t.v. crush on her ever since I first saw her on the "Benny Hill show."
The cool part about Daphne finding out was that we as the Audience always knew how Niles felt about her and she never knew and at the end of that episode the Dynamic changed. Now we were with her.We know she knows and now he doesn’t know she knows
They played it beautifully ... Daphne, being English, where class divide is still so much ingrained in the culture, for a long time she could not perceive, let alone imagine, Niles's feelings towards her - or even her own feelings towards him. ... Even to the end, Daphne to Niles, 'You'd eat a worm if I gave it a French name!' (priceless!).
@@janeybundybird WHOA! .. Nelly! .. Cool your jets! .. I am a huge Anglophile! .. Lived in Britain as an exchange from Virginia Tech and never looked back with my admiration of the Brits; their pluck and civility!
I've just started rewatching this and it brings me so many childhood memories back! This was my favourite show of all time growing up. I would cancel plans so i could stay home to watch.
The ski lodge episode is the best! LoL 😆. Oh poor, Frasier - everyone was chasing everyone else except no one wanted Frasier! But I'm glad Martin got his hearing back! LoL 😆😆😆.
This is by far my very number 1 favorite show thank you so much I Love Frasier and Niles and all of them they always make me laugh I'll never get tired if Frasier thank you and God bless you Peggy Lynn Smith from Corbin Kentucky
This was the best arc for 2 people meant to be together. Beginning with a crush, then slowly becoming more and more, then Daphne realizing she loves him back. The fact that Niles' lasted so long without losing his love for Daphne, despite seeing her with others and he being with someone else, he never stopped.
The thing is, I think she liked him too but assumed that because she was working class, he’d never go for her in a million years, so she buried her feelings deep down and assumed that whatever evidence of his crush on her that she glimpsed was all in her head.
I remember when Niles and Daphne first meet. It was a dream come true for Niles. All the times she was working with Martin ( she was a physical therapist) and Niles came in and she said If he doesn't do his exercise he'll get a spank his bottom. Niles said If you must, you must.
I wasn't a Frasier fan until I saw "Niles", he needs his own show. He is so funny! He makes my day, I'm sorry he's not. ❤😢❤😢❤😂😂😂😂 please come back❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
I love the episodes most when Niles had a secret crush on Daphne. For me, that brought the biggest laughs! But after Daphne found out how Niles felt, it kinda lost its steam. Their significant others were hurt, and the chemistry between Niles and Daphne became too serious.
I always thought the Niles and Daphne relationship seemed a carryover idea from DHP’s previous role of Theodore and his relationship with Elizabeth Berridge’s Charlotte the maid in the short-lived show “The Powers that Be” that featured a similar romantic chemistry.
Honestly I liked Niles so much better than Frasier. Sure they were both a bit snobbish but for the most part Niles was still a gentleman. His banter with Roz being the exception. Frasier, not so much.
I love how Niles and Roz’s friendship developed over the years. He couldn’t stand her at first but by the end they were like family. He even ran his draft of his proposal for Daphne by Roz to get her opinion, and Roz protected him from the Cafe Nervosa employees when he had his nervous breakdown.
Frasier was exquisite and flawless; the only thing it got wrong was the accents. None of the English accents were accurate although maybe that was the point
Well, actually, Daphne’s mother did a fairly good Northern accent, but all the Americans and Australians who tried to be English in this show failed spectacularly simply because they don’t know how British people talk, and Jane Leeves can’t do Northern full stop.
I absolutely loooove Frasier and watch it alot but the one thing I hated was Frasier always butting into Nyles business with Daphne it all ended well but was sooo annoying lol ❤❤❤
I did not know he was gay. I’ve been in love with this man for so so very long because of his role in his actor talent. He is one of my biggest favourite est humans on the planet… Fraser, Dr Phil, Oprah, Robin McGraw, Bob Barker, Drew Carey, Jim Carrey, those are all some of my best talents in the world naturally Julia Roberts, Beyoncé, all the rests Jay-Z I don’t forget about you you cheated but you’re just a man
I who hate getting dressed up, got dressed up for their wedding. 🤣 David Angel was the best writer (the A in KACL) who was killed in 9/11. Frasier, the all time best
I could just close my eyes and imagine Slim the Stick Bug (A Bug's Life) & Mrs. Ladybug (James and the Giant Peach) in place of Niles and Daphne. (since they were both played by David Hyde Pierce & Jane Leeves)
There's a fan theory that Daphne was autistic which rendered her unable to detect Niles' overt infatuation with her. Niles was so infatuated with her that he didn't even notice her symptoms. PLUS her other gaffes in the series which exhibit classic autism symptoms
Love Niles and Daphne ; I always watch the "Classic oldFrasier" beore but I watched this even more and millineala [their children 17 and up Gen Z) counselors and colleaguess are watching (the Classic Fraiser) are watching that too.. Hillarous and nonviolent, upstanding, nutrimental-high-minded, honest/lies, just, loud, respect for each other, snobis and simple, fitting for this non-fictional real, current generation, lots of forgiving w/ moral values.

Love stories usually ruin situation comedies. Ross and Rachel and Joey and Rachel were truly tedious story lines on Friends. Seinfeld never had a love story or a wedding or any births. The only love story on Roseanne was between Roseanne and Dan. Larry David was too busy hating himself on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to depict any love stories.
This is my husband Dr. Niles Crane. Your husband. We are still on our honeymoon . We have been married for 6 months. And then she said Niles dear can you help me in the kitchen. I am sorry Dr. Crane. I didn't mean to get you involved with this. I do anything for you my dear!

I actually think it got abit boring between these two when they got together it was funny wondering if they would or wouldn't watching Niles drool over her.
Niles did Love Daphne from first sight. But, he remained a gentleman ..also never tried to seduce her. Gave her full respect. Donnie ( the guy she left standing at the alter) knew Niles was in love with Daphne and still stole her from Niles just for spite. He deserved getting left,at the alter.
That happens with most television shows. They all run their course eventually. For the last seasons of Frasier , Niles and Daphne became a normal couple (not really good for TV but they had cute moments) the rest of the time I just felt bad for Frasier. His life never changed through the last seasons. The whole series was just Frasier helping others with their lives. Nothing changed for him

Jane Levees was my favourite character. Just so funny and how she'd deliver her lines. Her accent, and I know she's English, was so exaggerated. I stopped watching in season 8. The Two Mrs. Cranes is one of my favourite episodes.
