I'm impressed by how Nina was honest to her character and always chose the healthier on-screen relationship. Considering that Delena had more supporters and that she was dating Ian and clashing with Paul sometimes at this point, she could have easily rooted for Delena.
I think Nina also felt that Elena was better when she was with Stefan which was so true, she had a storyline but after she got with Damon, she was reduced to Damon's love interest and a symbol of his humanity...the show became shit when delena became official

Julie recently said that had Nina not left the show, Stelena could have been endgame. That's bullshit...I mean how do you imagine them getting back together after all the intimacy btw Delena in s3-s6?! When TVD aired on tv, there was no social media to explain toxic relationships...the fans were mainly teenagers who rooted for the hotter guy. Now with netflix re-airing the show and people realizing Stelena's worth, Julie started singing a different tune. P.S. - Damon actually ended up with Katherine in the books. Surprise! 😅
There is no point of debate. Not only Paul and nina, but ian himself believes stelena was better and healthy. In fact in his recent short interview at the tvd reunion he said that stefan deserved elena and stefan was a better guy. (Ps: no hate for damon, he's amazing but facts are facts. And stefan is ❤✨)

Well Elena was indeed very ruined by the writers for drama and fanservice. I must say that the original Elena (the book I mean) didn't help the show-Elena at all... not that I know much how she is... I've read only the first book and it was long ago but I have to say that I didn't love it and I didn't love her. As far as I've read around, book-Elena is even worse... but whatever, show-Elena had a lot of potential as character if only the writers would have a proper growth like they did with Caroline. Unfortunately, they only cared about numbers and not what was best for the series and the characters, because ruining Elena they ruined also Damon and Stefan. I don't know the real reasons on why she left the show but... I suppose it wasn't easy for Nina to be treated this bad by the writers when she is the fucking protagonist and the supposed role model... because honestly her character start quite good, but they made her too much whiny but the worst they did when they decided she should have been a vamp and sired to Damon... she became more whiny and controlled by a man who can't let her go and find another love. And don't let me start when they made her kiss meanwhile her and Stefan's relationship and have sex with Damon her boyfriend's blood brother ffs right after she broke up with him in the house they all share. Not a good thing in my book. Clearly situations like this happens in real life but... in real life no one is okay with it, no one could accept a situation like this and be happy. But for the showrunners was all okay... and for what... drama... duh. To me, Nina choosing Stefan and Stelena is enough to understand how the writers never give a damn of their own main cast. Nina, Paul and Ian always been Stelena stans and wanted them to be endgame.
So where are those delena fans that would come up to us with stupid invalid reasons of shipping dullena? Even the cast most importantly Nina always liked stefan and Elena's relationship. I mean who in the world would want to ship delena unless they support cheating , hurting and being selfish enough to not give a damn about anyone. 🤦♀️
The STELENA couple is by far the best because Stefan was not toxic to Elena unlike Damon. Damon and Elena kept breaking up and he didn't respect her which proves that Damon and Elena weren't the best couple.

have a feeling nina liked being with paul (stefan) more because the show was better in the first 2/3 seasons she's an actor/actress, you want the best story lines. everything was better overall when she was with stefan then she goes with damon for 3 seasons and decides to leave the show after that not to mention actually breaking up with ian (damon) irl if she liked ian that much, she wouldn't have broken up with him and all the scenes on the show with damon were just an act 🤣 at least with stefan the show was good when she was acting with him

Even now I can't accept how ppl supported this ilethical & toxic relationship delena.They supported the toxic love instead of true love..very worst only good thing is the original version of vampire diaries - I mean book.. Stelena has endgame.. For Tv Shows Stefen deserves better
