It's a persona. Her voices and expressions are trademarks much like Michael Jackson's signature moves and going 'hoo!' and 'chamon' and that white glove he wore. It's all about carefully curated eccentricity & repetition.
@@Coasterdude02149 im a painter in Scotland,,gallery and pavement. To be honest we play up to the crazy, eccentric part as people kinda like it....but if you watch Nina with her family she is surprisingly normal.
I just love Nina and her interviews. Her sense of humor and great attitude are awesome. I can't understand why she's not super popular in the USA. I have been wanting to see her live for years. She only tours LA, New York, Atlanta but I don't think she's been to Miami. I'd be there in a heartbeat if she'd come to Florida. Anywhere in Florida. The David Bowie bit I’m like 💯 percent facts!! I hate it when the star is too good like she opened for him and she loved/wanted to meet him she wasn’t some random fan she literally opened his show wow I didn’t know that. I loved when she said ALL the fans waiting outside for her she will meet!
She's a bug out for sure, I smoked a joint with her one morning when i worked at the Tunnel, this was around 87, she was hanging out when we were closing, sitting next to me while we were rolling a joint, i didn't realize at first who she was but she was very cool, and she was def not like any american woman i had ever met. Afterwards she invited us to go do laundry that am. and we didn't go..i wished we would have now though...

There's an interview on yt in german where the interviewer asks all the right questions and never ever mocks any of her opinions. She turns completely serious, no fake joking at all, and you're baffled by all the great insights she shares about how to stay sane, keeping up mental health, havng good relationships, about the meaning of life...and above all, she simply preaches the gospel. Theologically profound teaching of the gospel.... I kid you not. Profoundly and very intimate. All the masquerade is nothing but disguise for all the people that are much too superficial to understand spiritual things. She HAS to hide that for rare occasions when it's not trampled over by a foolish crowd. One has to know her story: lost her father by suicide, attempted suicide at 12 yrs old herself, had two forced abortions at 14 and 16, had an awful miscarriage at 17, fell into drug addiction around twenty....and so on.
I was 16 years old, about a year after this video I politely asked her at one of her shows in the parking lot in San Francisco if she would sign the album I just bought. She was maybe drunk and two guys were holding her up and she looked at me with a shitty look and said, "Sign it? IM NOT GOING TO SIGN IT" with an angry look on her face. As a teenage girl from the country, my heart was broken. But her show the night before was so good I did my best to put the bad interaction past. But watching this video I did have to laugh at her discussion about communicating with her fans and being upset that she couldn't meet David Bowie. I would have rather not met her at all then her be rude to me. But it was probably just a bad moment. We were front row at the show the night before and she put on an amazing performance. Unforgettable.
In this case he had it coming. Nina is kooky but she is truly special. It would be an HONOR to have a conversation with her. So intensely beautiful and genius
