if they had dated later I think it would have lasted they still love you a little bit and the vampire diaries will keep them together forever but what happened is they will never find each other again such a shame Ian and Nikki are happy but I think he was happier with Nina Nina was his epic love Niki gives him children and a quiet life but he certainly won't forget Nina and with Nina she looks somehow older now maybe because she really is older or she is not happy generally it seems to me that neither of them is happier without each other and are just living their lives now but I think they would be happier together and it may be that Ian regrets it a little but you never know you just get to watch Ian advertise his products and Nina posts things on Instagram.
