Xmas gift just bought for my cat as a step up from level 3 puzzle options which are too easy. She worked out the sides so far, needs to up her game for the centre wheel, and haven't yet used the side blockers, so I am happy with the difficulty level. But while I am pleased she doesn't do this one in a couple of minutes, unfortunately this is aided by the fact the product does not work smoothly, a couple of the squares on one side get stuck and they need my force to slide them along, so there's no way the cat could move them with her paw. I don't know whether it's just my puzzle that has a fault or other people have had this issue? I bought this model because it was recommended by some cat owners but as far as I am concerned the design doesn't entirely work for a cat. I appreciate this is made for dogs therefore they may not have the same issues. I found the whole thing clunky, the middle wheel is also hard to spin with a tendency to stick. My cat doesn't tend to be very forceful which isn't in her favour here. Perhaps bigger cats that tend to be more aggressive with their puzzles might have a different experience? Some squares share a common treat pocket underneath which means the treat will slide from one side to the other at each attempt to get it - perhaps this is meant to add to the "difficulty" - it certainly is frustrating. Cat's claws get caught in the outer plastic edge when trying to get the treat out, half of the time she ends up eating the treat by licking right in the pocket. Some bits of treats get in nooks and crannies where they are difficult to remove from, making this annoying to clean.

My dog started level 3 when he was a 3 month old puppy, he has gotten up to level 4 and can do it quickly in 5 minutes with no help

I just got one of these for mine. The outer part is no problem at all. But the inner is so hard for him. Is there tricks to help him? Or is it just to Let him try until he gets it? Cause there are no videos of dogs actually succeeding this 😅

Hi Jens, the inner parts make this puzzle a level 4 puzzle, it´s really a challenging part, some dogs can learn how it works and some not. You can try to show and help him when playing, some dogs can learn by watching.

I really hope you plan to design more level 4 puzzles. My 12-week Shiba caught on to these on his own very well and just started on this one. He still enjoys the level 3 puzzles, but they can't occupy his time as much anymore. They've been great at replacing some of that Shiba stubborn, one-track mindedness with problem solving, making the rest of every day more enjoyable for everyone.

We work with many new puzzles in different levels of difficulty, but it always takes some time before they are finalized. It's great that your dog likes puzzles, you can freeze the games to make the playing time longer, fill each well with a little natural yogurt or water, add something tasty such as small pieces of boiled chicken, sausages, treats, boiled fish etc. , set the game in the freezer and let it set, much appreciated by the dogs.

Hi Nina!! My pups birthday is this weekend and I got him this puzzle! (He can do a level 3 easily so I figured time to level up!). Just wondering, should I train him to do it or let him figure it out on his own? Thanks!

Hi, and congrats to your pups birthday. Because he already has solved level 3, you can let him try to figure out the puzzle on his own, but be ready to help him, especially with the rotating middle part, which is more complicated than it looks. I hope you will have a lots of fun // Nina.

My dog took about 3 hours to go back and forth to solve this puzzle the 1st time. The 2nd time he solved in 15 mins. The 3rd time, in 7 mins… this toy now is of no use to him 😂😂😂 please raise the level!

Dogs are clever 😍and even if they understand how it works, they still enjoy playing, here are some tips: If you have several puzzle games, you can do a puzzle race with them, put several puzzles in a row and hide some treats in each. You can also hide the puzzles in different rooms or places, so the dog has to find them, to make it even more difficult, you can hide the puzzles under blankets, towels and pillows. Another way is to place a puzzle on a towel and slide it under a couch or armchair, so the dog has to pull out the game with the towel. You can also make a frozen puzzle by adding some natural yogurt in each compartment with some tasty treats and then letting the game set in the freezer, keeps the dog busy a little longer. You can also set up the game on a chair or similar so that the dog can only work with the nose, not the paws, it would usually be a bit more challenging for the dog, especially if it is a paw dog.
