I was at a pro wrestling show recently, and an instrumental of this song was the entrance theme for one of the wrestlers. A bunch of us in the crowd happened to be Nine Inch Nails fans and began singing the lyrics. After the show, he was interacting with folks and mentioned that he heard people singing the lyrics, which meant a lot to him considering it was his debut in the company.
Ah dude, thats so cool! I had similar recently - an Irish wrestler named Katey Harvey used this track for their entrance when they debuted in a local wrestling promotion to me in London, and I popped so hard when I heard this kick in.
Trent is an amazing an example of someone who did something unique and it created magic. Remember, his first album came out in the 80's when rock hair bands were on top. None of that mattered to him. He did him and look what he has created! It's 2021 and he is still here as strong as ever.
@@Emp6ft10in Still making music and performing to huge crowds as always - as much as I love Trent and NIN, they certainly didn't invent industrial, and there is a lot more to the industrial scene than just them
They have a very interesting sound, the Electronica of Gary Numan, the Glam of David Bowie, the early metal of Queen, the Progressive time changes of Yes, is that what Industrial is, a mixture of all that, I say its all that and some Alternative, a mish; mosh of something that will never be matched!!!
Whatever you're going through, this song challenges you to throw off the chains and take the power back. Getting me through some dark times and I appreciate it forever for that.
Yes yes backed hey boys aka union we work in cold. Right well dig her ass. Drink some coffee you like it black right meow a little sugar black it is it's so tart want to laugh call it what you will. Hey boys they need help please
I like the fact that Trent Reznor is not heavily tattooed, doesn’t need frontman stage presence or appearance to be awesome. His musical talent, brilliance, and genius creates all the magical power and powerful magic!
This song has a special meaning for me. It is on the soundtrack of a racing video game, Midnight Club 3. I remember playing late at night and this beat came in clutch as my Aprilia Mille Factory caught a big air on a highway of the game's version of Detroit. It was such a good feeling I had to pause the game as the bike landed just so I could get the song's title. To this day I never had such a beat-to-heartbeat experience like that. Thanks.
I had a similar experience with need for speed underground 2. I remember one of the songs was a remix of riders on the storm with snoop dog. IDK but i just raced better whne that song was on.
I remember being eight years old when this video came out. I would dance around and hold up a fake mic stand and try to move like Trent lmao. I felt like such a little badass.
I played so much Midnight Club 3 on PS2 back then. To this day when this song comes on, I REALLY have to pay attention while driving IRL or I'll speed like a MF.
@@badledgend1172 same here man, my older brother was ways into NiN I was surprised when I heard this song on the video game! I was a solid fan from then on 🤘
"The Hand That Feeds" You're keeping in step In the line Got your chin held high and you feel just fine Cause you do What you're told But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold Just how deep do you believe? Will you bite the hand that feeds? Will you chew until it bleeds? Can you get up off your knees? Are you brave enough to see? Do you want to change it? What if this whole crusade's A charade And behind it all there's a price to be paid For the blood On which we dine Justified in the name of the holy and the divine Just how deep do you believe? Will you bite the hand that feeds? Will you chew until it bleeds? Can you get up off your knees? Are you brave enough to see? Do you want to change it? So naive I keep holding on to what I want to believe I can see But I keep holding on and on and on and on [8X] Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees?
this song has aged really well. I remember when it came out and I didn't like the album as much as earlier NIN but listening now it definitely has the NIN feel. Trent Reznor is a genius.
Same. I was young, seriously into extreme metal, and kept hearing it everywhere. Fast forward a few years later and this record is actually one of my favs. Always loved Trent.
I think anti-capitalism, uprise, and anarchy are vectors a part of Trent has always wanted to explore (going back to _Head Like a Hole_ ) but not as prominently as his own emotional landscape. I wish he would do more. I think an album of angry, anti-system NIN songs could do the world some good!
@@matteodelapaz1698 Indeed, especially since as angry and noisy as they ever were, I never found RATM's message to be coherent enough to inspire an actual movement. I am in fact intensely disappointed by RATM, and Zach de la Rocha in particular.
I'm a minority male living in NYC. I come from the hood. Was born and raised there. I was never into rap or hip hop. I always loved metal, rock and death metal. N.I.N and Mushroom head have been my favorite bands since a child. This type of music blasting in my headphones makes me feel powerful and motivated. I love it I love it. I just need to fight the urge to rip someone's head open when the best drops. ^_^
Time to play this, have a concert on top of the House in Washington. Time to literally clean the House and blow the roof off. I am no minority but was raised in a ghetto, and I learned its just people trying to live their lives in a situation that hardens the heart, being preyed on by gangs cops drug dealers.
Been listening to this song off and on over the last almost 20 years, and a lot has happened. This song hits harder with every passing year. How does one maintain their integrity without selling out for... reasons? Anyway, an immortally good song.
Don't normally comment on these and I've been watching reactions for about 3 yrs now. Just turned 57 mid Jan. and love all genres of ROCK. This song takes me back about 15 yrs or so. My daughter , son, and nephew hadn't really got into good music yet (my music) so I convinced my wife to buy them ROCK BAND for Christmas. Oh, wait what's that chair right there? Speakers it has speakers in it and it plugs into ROCK BAND! HE'LL YEAH!! Long story short this song ended up being our first encore or whatever. Man I was the shit for awhile. Now I'm PAP. Can't wait to ROCK WITH MY GRANDKIDS!
@@torianholt2752 See Moby's video for "Extreme Ways," there's something similar there. He's another musician who plays everything, a la Prince, Dave Grohl (the first FF album), Tony Martin (although his solo music is not so great), etc.
Your comment rocks at any age! Many thanks isn't good enough for what you used to do... I used to extricate them and bring them to you. This is a kick ass song!
@@andreitarkovsky3214Stop being such a generational and age ass. It's great that all ages and generations listen to this, not just those who grew up in the time this first came out.
The mic drop is what properly punctuates the whole song. It's like the singer ultimately had enough, bit the hand that fed him and then drops the mic like a boss.
A song like this just moves into your brain, elevates your heart rate, dilates your pupils... Or not and then you push thumbs down and run screaming down the hall and back in the basement.
Man that guitarist got out of there in a hurry right when the song was over. I like to think that right when they started this song, that breakfast burrito he had that morning started hitting him
About 17 years ago i was terribly addicted to oxys. I would listen to this whole album sometimes while driving to get more. Now i like to listen and think back on those dark days.
@@someguy3522 No dumbass, i like to listen to this song now that I’ve been sober for years and it reminds me of how far I’ve come in getting and staying clean. No addict enjoys remembering their days of being an addict.
Random boring story here, I just really want to say this, lol. So I changed schools when I came to live with my dad almost a year ago. I'd been in band since 5th grade. When I moved, I stayed in band, but this year I'm not because of how one of my credits transferred, so I had to drop it this year (which I'm mostly okay with anyway since my new school's band sucks and I don't like the teaching.😅). So when I was getting ready to move, I had this feeling that this year now that I'm gone, they were going to play songs I've always loved, and THEY SURE FREAKING DID, LOL Right before I moved we started learning a marching arrangement of this song (which at the time I hardly knew, but I'm starting to really like nin) for basketball games. This year, they played freaking Fall Out Boy and Coldplay songs for the marching season, two bands that were part of my childhood and development of my taste in music, lol. Gosh. So I was just looking through my old music, and found my sheet for this song, and now I miss it more than normal, lol. Tl;dr: my old school played this song for marching band, I'm not in band anymore, and I miss it all, lol.
The one of few things that I love about technology..the ability to find beautiful tunes in quarantine and the discovery of songs you haven't heard in a decade or more 😃❤it!
If you guys like nine inch nails, please listen to The Modular Monster , this not spam, I would only like for more people to listen to these songs open.spotify.com/track/5JyPtRoPuT55C9wjMd6IbQ?si=jbYCRDTyQVebPFK6ggQtBg
Do you know how long Snape has had that haircut? Since he was a kid. That's wayyyyyyy before 89, although I'll concede Snape being fictional and Trent being real.
He has such eerie vibes but then he's such a handsome, clean cut looking, older dude, on the outside. Also, I keep wanting to watch the fan but I'm too busy blowing up the comment section
Pink Nosebleed no he’s not he had dreads back then , he took a headshot of snape to his barber and said “ that’s how I wanna look” 5 dollars and 10 mins later voila!!!
This was the first song I ever listened and the first video I ever watched of NIN ten years ago. NIN got through me several stages in my life that I can't imagine them without it. Thank's, Reznor.
Incredible how such an amazing song doesn't have more views. I remember hearing this first in midnight club on my PS2. Its stuck with me all these years and anytime I come back to it, it still gives me the chills!
One of my favorite bands! Pianist keyboardist guitarist vocalist. Rez = One of the best musicians in the world. Original subliminal. Been listening to NIN since the 90's. One of my synth heroes!!
One of the many reasons why my music idols are Trent Reznor and Eddie Vedder is that both use their vocals to the ultimate, paired with amazing sounds. No tattoos, no drama. Pure talent.
Some songs are well before their time, and this is one of them , genius writing and a real life lasting song that will have us going back to our younger year's.we should of appreciated what we should have when we was younger....... That's music for you..... Thats also , life's lesson.
My go to karaoke song right here. Met a young man the other day who had never heard of NIN. I Played several songs including this one and “Closer” No dice. He loved them though, I couldn’t believe it. Felt old af😊
It's 1 am, I'm in bed, watching RU-vid before going to sleep. Have an urge to listen to this song again, headphones on. At 2:08 I start kicking the air with my fist in the agony of utter pleasure. I am alone in the house. I do not recall ever doing anything like this before. Is this joy? I guess so. I don't know what the fact that it comes from listening to NIN tells about me, but I am sure happy that we have NIN in our universe 😁
They're amazing. I'm not sure how old you are - but this is about the closet I get to techno. 😂 Trent Reznor did the soundtrack for "The Social Network" and it's such an amazing thing to hear his touch throughout the movie.
I cannot wait until the vinyl remaster of this album comes out. This, The Slip, Year Zero, and the Quake soundtrack are getting remastered and re-released and i can't fucking wait!
+HWB This was about a decade before Snape came into the picture, or the book should I say!? It is definitely a different look, kind of mysterious and rebellious looking with a good creepy vibe to set it off!
+Vada Campbell A decade? This song is from 2005. The first Harry Potter book came out in 1997, and the movie in 2001. Unless you mean Trent's look in general.
This slid under my radar when it was released. Heard it on our local rock station in Dallas and it's quickly become a favorite of mine. Trent's voice and the synth are infectious.
