The Ninja Air Fryer Max XL AF161 is a powerful air fryer with a small capacity that's perfect for small households. It has a max crisp technology that delivers 450 degrees of superheated air to cook foods up to 30 percent faster versus ninja af100. It also has a 60-minute timer with a sound alert and a dishwasher-safe air fryer basket.
We've been very impressed with the performance of the Ninja Air Fryer Max XL AF161. We've cooked everything from chicken wings to french fries to vegetables in the Ninja Air Fryer Max XL AF161, and everything has turned out perfectly. The food is cooked evenly and it's always crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
We highly recommend the Ninja Air Fryer Max XL AF161 to anyone who is looking for a great air fryer for a small households.

I have the max, and I love it. I've had it for a few years, never had any trouble with it and use it 2-3 times a week, at least. Perfect for 2 people. I made a great pavlova in it, but my coffee cake was a complete flop.. my fault though, not the fryers

Is this air fryer too big for a couple? I am trying to decide whether I should buy the Ninja Air Fryer 3.8 L or Ninja Air Fryer MAX, 5.2L. It would be just for me and my partner.
@FamilyPopTV
@FamilyPopTV 11 месяцев назад
Hi, this single basket ninja is fine for a couple, in either version. But let's say, if you'd like to cook some larger meals for the two of you, or if you'd like to cook more often, the 5.2l would be a better option than 3.8l. Btw. We had double basket version 9.5l for our fam of 3 and we found it too big, hence we bought 5.2l.

I bought this product yesterday, I don't know if choose the right one or not!! :(...... There is a lot smoke coming out fron the back of the Airfryer... Is it normal??? It was a lot smoke!!
@FamilyPopTV
@FamilyPopTV 9 месяцев назад
Hi. No, this isn't normal, considering it's a brand new unit (even if you've maxed out the temperature), so you should either contact the seller straight away and highlight the issue - or Ninja customer support for assistance. They will be able to help you troubleshoot the problem and determine if your air fryer needs to be repaired or replaced.

How long to cook a whole chicken? Looks delicious, but in the quick start guide there is just breasts/wings, no whole chicken

Healthier than microwave? Please expand
@FamilyPopTV
@FamilyPopTV 8 месяцев назад
Sure. The air fryers cook food using hot air, which circulates around the food and cooks it evenly. This helps to preserve the nutrients in the food better than microwaves, which can cook food unevenly and destroy nutrients and often destroys the structure of foods. Air fryers can be used to cook a variety of healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. Microwaves are typically used to cook or reheat processed foods, which can be high in unhealthy fats, sugar, and salts... Also, heating or cooking potatoes, beetroots or even french fries in the microwave forms acrylamide - which is a chemical compound that forms when certain foods are cooked at high temperatures (acrylamide is considered to be a carcinogen, which means it may cause cancer). We've done some research a while ago, before we switched from microwave to air fryer, hence my little statement, that air fryers are 'healthier'

I don't understand how it is healthier than cooking in a microwave. I also wouldn't trust the hype on the ceramic coated basket and plate - they said the same about non-stick frying pans.
@FamilyPopTV
@FamilyPopTV 3 месяца назад
Hi. Thx for the feedback. You're right, I went slightly off the fence with this, but here's the thing - air fryers use less oil, which can lead to healthier meals. They're obviously better for cooking fresh ingredients like veggies, meats and fish,etc - which are often better choices than pre-made, processed foods. And here we got the microwaves, which are fine for reheating or quick meals. These pre-made foods can be higher in sodium and preservatives, etc, so if aiming for healthier cooking, air fryers give an edge because of the points I mentioned. Anyway, I'll definitely be more clear in my future reviews :) Right, the ceramic coatings are considered safer than Teflon, especially if the coating gets scratched (regardless of hype, it's always good to be cautious)..

@PopTV I eat zero to low carb - meat, fish, poultry, eggs and lots of animal fats. One of the downsides is the amount of fat splatters on the hob - no seed oils but from lard, butter, dripping. Calories in fat aren't of a concern eating this way. You can easily re-heat home cooked food in a microwave, not just for shop-bought meals. Sodium or salt is also not the enemy if you eat a good quality rock or mined salt. Thank you for your reply - I guess we all have to choose what works for us and if we believe (or not) the manufacturers' claims about the ceramic coatings. I think 'ceramic' is bit of a weasel word as it makes us think of safe, robust, inert ceramic we have in our homes, plates, china etc. I think the ceramic coatings plugged by the air fryer makers is a long way off that material. Apparently, some cars have a ceramic coating and we certainly don't think we are running around driving in a porcelain-coated car - imagine the chips if you knock it or have an accident.
@justinerogers1353
@justinerogers1353 3 месяца назад
Ah - here we go - more detail on what is in a ceramic coating (this is from the automotive industry) - not so healthy-sounding now (key words "silica based": Unlike traditional coatings, which are typically concocted from polymer resins, a ceramic coating is silicon dioxide or silica (SiO2) based. Commonly derived from quartz crystals and sand, silica creates an invisible, extremely resilient “nanotechnology coating” when combined with elements like titanium dioxide, polysilazane, triethanolamine, water, and various other ingredients. Once cured atop a hard surface, this viscous liquid forms a crystal-clear shell, a product that is referred to as a nano ceramic coating, or ceramic coating for short

@@justinerogers1353 All due respect, and in no way am I defending corporations, but based on the two replies you wrote, I think you need to live life a little. A tiny convection oven CANNOT be compared to a microwave. If you have never tasted the difference then you need to expand your palate
@justinerogers1353
@justinerogers1353 2 месяца назад
@@calvinj5639 You completely missed the point about how safe they are or are not based on manufacturers' claims and how, when you look closer at the ceramic coating - it's not the inert safer option (safer than the plastic baskets) some people think they are.

These units are made to fail after roughly 100 uses. The fuse is replaceable but few would be lucky to know it’s a fuse, let alone find and replace it. Last ninja junk I’ll ever buy. Wife and I both.
@FamilyPopTV
@FamilyPopTV 10 месяцев назад
thanks for bringing that up, I'm curious if someone else had similar issues with ninjas. It my be a flaw in design, I'll keep an eye on this. If its only a fuse thats relatively simple repair. Thanks for sharing this info.

I was told this when I bought a Power Airfryer XL. It'll stop working after 18 months they said lol 5 years later mine it still working! I use it at least 4 times per week and mostly on full power for 10 - 15 minutes. That's 1040 days, 175 - 250 hours! She's looking worse for wear now and I suspect the fan motor is wearing out, but I think it can survive another 6 months easily 😅🥳

Thanks. Btw you're right. I possibly went a bit overboard with the microwave thing.. But then theoretically ,if I would rely in the kitchen solely on ready meals nuked in the microwave ..this wouldnt be the best in the long run, from a health or dietary perspective..
