Here is my full review of the Ninja Foodi Grill. I later learned that there IS a dehydrating basket sold separately that I have not tested yet. Maybe for Part 2!

Courtney Kachur yeah I found myself saying the exact same thing watching it, that’s why like with grilling outside just keep an eye on it, especially something like steak because no one seems to ever like their steak done the same way haha

Which is so funny when you hear salmonella recalls on product that made it to homes. How did they get salmonella if they cooked the product correctly? I can see the companies pulling product if it tested positive, but people get sick and then the recalls happen. They had to under cook their food or cross contaminate maybe? Something on the users end is wrong. Oven probe is the best tool, the ones that you can check temps outside the oven, not just stick the food.

Just bought my Ninja Foodi grill. I agree the cook times are incorrect in the guide. once you get past the timing learning curve, I love it. I've been using it 2-3 times a day. To deal with the fat drippings during grilling, when it's time to add the meat, I lift the grill out, and put in a parchment paper 9x9 "bowl". put the grill back on, add the meat and get to grilling. When done, i then take the grill out, lift the grease filled parchment bowl out. quick wipe with a paper towel, then put in the air fry crisper basket, and off I go. quick easy clean and no smoke :-)

My step mom when the original foodie got released was so excited about this thing. She has just about ninja everything in the kitchen and honestly they do make some high quality cooking gear. Their coffee maker me and my dad love which she got him for Christmas last year and he has stopped buying coffee at stores and got a thermos to take coffee with him to work. I do love the coffee maker and the foodi itself. When I heard about everything it claimed to do I thought she was crazy for buying it as no way it could do that but here I am now eating my own words as it is used almost every night for dinner and the air fryer is amazing on it. After watching this I am going to get the grill for her for Christmas. Might be expensive but I know she will love this thing so much and having two foodies will help for the big holiday family dinners she likes to do

Just a little bit of advice. If the cook time is 20 min and flip halfway, why not set it for 10 min for each side? That way the unit will automatically turn off if a person is not there or forgets to flip it halfway. Plus, it will give a person time to multi-task!

I used canola oil and a dry rub for my chicken and there was no char at all. In my experience whether I’m grilling on the Ninja Foodie or a traditional grill (and I use a marinade on my chicken) I get that same charred look. It’s caused when the sugars in the marinade caramelize at such a high heat. If you prefer a less charred chicken you can always back down on the temp and increase the time - but definitely check the chicken to keep it from over/under cooking. Cleanup was a cinch!!! I’m very pleased with this product!!!

I just purchased this on OfferUp new in the box for $50. It has been the best OfferUP purchase I've ever made. pretty accurate review! I've cooked a few pork loins (premarinated vacuum packed from Hormel and found the cooking time and temp to be off. Cooking at a lower tempurature and longer time for something like that works better. I've also cooked a couple chicken boobs and like yours, the time had to be reduced to get it perfect. I've yet to cook veggies in it and tonight I'm trying frozen tater tots so we'll see. I like your reviews. I bought this like 2 weeks ago and have used it about 5 times. It’s great, clean up is really easy, let things cool a bit and then with soap and the little tool it comes with if you need to remove little stuck on stuff. Times are a bit off but in my experience it wasn’t much. I’ve done steaks, burgers, carne asada (really really good) chicken breast, and salmon. The salmon smoked a bit but that was because of the marinate, If the con is the cooking times or space that’s not really cons at all especially how well it works. They have separate racks that you can buy from their website and things are reasonably priced. Check out places like Kohl’s, I spent so much less for mine that it feels like a great buy. Cool thing is the timer once you open pauses and the once you close it starts up again. Sounds small but it’s convenient. Asparagus came out great, bought a big package of it from Costco and finished it with the meals we made. Worth it if you live in apartments or even if you wanna grill in December when it’s -2.

This was the first video I’ve seen of this guy and many other reviewers “test their cooked food” and you can hear the smacking of their teeth, lips, tongue, etc and that;’s disgusting! He said, “I’m going cover the sound of my chewing” and I subbed or subscribed. At the time, I hadn’t gone through his other content, so I instantly subbed. I hope that’s a good enough explanation :)

Got this thing for Christmas and first thing I made was near perfect boneless chicken breast fillets (teriyaki marinade). The book recommends 14-18 minutes at 450, but that would basically turn them into burnt dust. At 11 minutes, the chicken was already 170-172. I'd recommend 10 mins, flipping halfway through, to get to that 165 mark. Even slightly overcooked, the chicken came out very tasty. Tomorrow I'm going to grill some prime ribeyes from Costco and then some Steelhead Trout the following day. Can't wait to see how those turn out.

The main question that needs to be answered is how close to an actual bbq flavor do you get with this? And is this considered the best electric smokeless grill or are there better out there?
@voman0741
@voman0741 4 года назад
While I"m sure there are plenty of so-called indoor electric smokeless grills, I have owned the Power Smokeless Indoor grill; the Philips Indoor Smokeless Grill and now the Foodi Grill...which is superior to the others. One main reason is that you can't get a temperature above 450 degrees with the first two, but the Foodi goes up to 510 degrees, with very little smoke.

With the Foodi, you set the time and come back when it beeps to turn the chicken. If you are cooking a whole chicken , with the Air Fryer function, there's no comparison ....the Foodi is supreme. But again you can't smoke with the Foodi, so your BBQ grill wins every time.

For my fried chicken/ I spice my chicken, then I do a egg wash that has spices and alittle heavy creamer, roll it it in flour panko spice mix. I spray them well with coconut pam, as well as the cooking surface. I cook 9 minutes on both sides and spray well when I flip. Don't be shy with the spray. It comes out so yummy!

The trick is to airfry meat from frozen. That way it doesn't get dried out, yet crispy on the outside. I started doing it years ago because I wanted them to stay frozen to not get increased histamine load, and found out they just turned out way better. I usually cook it at 180c for 15 minutes. Then crank the last 5 to 200c. That way it doesn't get burnt on the outside, and once it's cooked all the way through, the high heat makes it crispy on the outside layer. Perfect blend, especially goes for steaks. So good! Ps. color of chicken != cooking level. They can be pink and still be cooked properly. It needs to be checked with a thermometer or bounce. Color can just be from seeping from bones etc.

thanks so much for this one. I've toyed with budgeting for this device and really wanted unbiased and practical testing. Two primary issues for me were smoke levels and the final quality of the foods. I live in an apartment and outside grills are not allowed. Foods like chicken, beef, some veggies taste so much better when cooked on a grill. But I didn't want a kitchen filled with smoke. Now, I watched a different reviewer use this Ninja-however she stated up front that she "didn't want to worry about smoke" either. Her technique? She used it outdoors on her deck! That wasn't the point, obviously!! When I saw you were reviewing this I had to watch. (Actually, I think I posted a comment/request earlier 2019, asking you to weigh in on this, so I was very excited to see you'd given it a try). I am impressed. You gave this useful tool a comprehensive and fair run-through. Easy, fast, very little smoke-and that only after several uses, so there's another plus. Now if I can only find it on sale, I will be happy to invest my cash and save time, energy and frustration of missing out on great tasting grilled favorites. Thanks again.

For any kind of cooking processes (grill, fry, ....), one needs to flip the food item at constant intervals. So the cook must be stand beside the device and be alert regarding the flip time and count. Don't you think this is unfair and it unnecessarily engages the cook. If you use the Philips Airfryer you DON'T need to flip. Just set the timer and do any kind cooking complete unbothered about flipping time and count. It's like fire and forget.
